This might be my favorite Disney Story, or one of them, anyway. It taught me to love this kind of country music, and as a kid, this story sort of opened my mind to life outside of my own experiences.

I'm a little obsessed with this particular Disney movie. I saw it at a drive-in as a kid, and the music is haunting and eerie. I've tried to collect everything I can related to this movie, and I still think the robot designs in this film are excellent.

I think the SFX are just fantastic in this. I think that late 70's era of sound design is fantastic.

This comment really warms my heart. I love to imagine the people who listen to these shows. Thanks for making my morning!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:42am
Austin Rich:

My parents went to a fair number of Drive-In movies when I was very young, as they were everywhere, and that way they didn't have to pay movie theater prices for snacks. While I can't remember everything that I saw, two movies in particular stood out that I have become very obsessed with over the years:

Raiders of The Lost Ark
The Black Hole.

I think about moments from both of these movies at least once a week.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:50am
Austin Rich:

"What does your intuition tell you, Kate?" While it's not well established in either the film or in this version of the story, Kate has a form of ESP, where she can sense things, and in particular, speak with robots, telepathically. When it happens, it's sort of surreal, in that late 70's sort of way.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:53am
Austin Rich:

I have to imagine that the sessions for recording Slim Pickens, as the voice of the B.O.B. robot, must have been wild. I'm sure he must have thought most of what he was saying was nonsense.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:56am
Austin Rich:

This "Triumphant" music is the only sound cue in this movie I don't like. I think it doesn't fit the tone, and is wrong for this movie.

The narrator sounds familiar, but I can't put my finger on it.

↳ Song: "The Story of Tron" by "Walt Disney Productions"
I got very excited about the Tron sequel, and other spin-off media, back when that was going on. But something was missing, and I didn't really bond with the new stuff. There's something chaotic, and weird about the first movie, that seems incomplete, and leaves a lot of backstory for you to guess at. The sequels seem to want to fill in all the gaps that just feels... off.

David Warner is such a perfect villain. Between this and Time Bandits, he takes up a lot of space in my imagination.

Is there like... whiskey flavored whiskey? That's all I really need.

Mr Fab:

I saw “the black hole“ as a kid, and don’t remember it being very interesting, except for the music. I did later pick up the soundtrack by John “James Bond theme“ Barry real cheap at a used record sale. Definitely an underrated theme. Maybe the film would better for me now?

I'm biased, so your milage may vary, but I quite like the Black Hole now. But it is corny and not all of it works. But it has a nice 70's sci-fi vibe that I love.

Austin Rich:

↳ Song: "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" by "The Wellingtons"
I saw one of the Scarecrow episodes as a kid, and it terrified and amazed me. I loved the theme song. But very quickly it became hard to find, in the 80's and early 90s. These days it's easy to find, but for years I sort of wondered what this "Scarecrow" thing was that I saw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
