Just finished reading Philip Glass auto biography. I had not known that Glass and Peter Schickele were classmates at Julliard. Glass shared a few funny anecdotes about Schickele, who was developing his comic approach while in Julliard, from their student days. Later, after the renown that Einstein on the Beach brought to Glass, Schickele contacted Glass, and asked, would you mind if I do a piece called Einstein on the Fritz? Glass gave him the go ahead. Schickele invited Glass to attend when it would be performed. Glass accepted and was surprised that when the ...on the Fritz was performed that he was singled out by a spotlight and the piece, of course, got stuck and kept repeating the first measure.

Hey! Howdy Wenzo!

I went to see Pom Poko last night… part of Ghibli fest. It’s about raccoon dogs but they refer to them as raccoons. I was researching raccoon dogs this morning & it seems they are present in Western Europe as well now… not sure if that’s the Japanese variety or the common raccoon dog… all very confusing…
  2:29pm
wenzo:

The “common” raccoon dog it seems. Looks like they are present in the southern half of the Netherlands? I wonder what American Racoons make of them.
  2:34pm
wenzo:

When the raccoons and raccoon dogs team up you better watch out
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Jan Turkenburg:

In the 1930s raccoon dogs escaped from fur farms in Eastern Europe and in the 1950s they were deliberately released in Western Russia and allowed to run wild, to serve as a new hunting animal. Since then, the raccoon dog is now found in most of Northern and Eastern Europe and in Western Russia (except the south) and is also rapidly advancing in Germany.
