"The 1968 performance also features different lyrics, with the line "I am puzzled as the oyster" in the final verse being changed to "I'm as puzzled as the newborn child" in the album version. This was reportedly because when Buckley played the song to Judy Henske, wife of producer Jerry Yester, she responded to the line with laughter."

I happened to have the radio on when Jazz Night in America came on last night, and they had a pretty interesting show on the ground-breaking indie label Strata East, founded by Stanley Cowell and Charles Tolliver. Of course. When I lived in Pasadena, I would walk down to this bar on Holly Street to hear Don Preston, who had a regular gig there. He would always do a medley of songs by the MOI. The bar was kind of a pick-up joint for yuppies, so not a lot of real music fans. When Don did Oh No leading into The Orange County Lumber Truck, we just looked at each other and smiled.

Don and I were the only two freaks in the bar.

Jeff, a couple of weeks ago, you had a tribute to the late Herb Robertson, so I got out a CD of his, credited to the Downtown All-Stars, that I hadn't heard for a while. I just put it into my car CD player, which usually identifies CDs. This time, it said I was listening to the Shanghai Chinese Traditional Orchestra on the album Music for Efficient Sleep. Track title? "Sleep" I'm still trying to figure out if this was a joke that the All-Stars played with the CD information database. Efficient Sleep???

City of Asylum is almost reason enough to move to Pittsburgh. An amazing supporter/nurturer of the arts, writers, community, etc. And everything they present is free.
