Sorry Framinator, no news on frames, but we have another exciting development to unveil as soon as the show ends - a new pop-up flash player for playing the MP3 archive of the show, complete with the playlist built in. Look for it after the show ends today, when the archives appear (by 1240pm).

  9:39am The Framinator:

can you gussy up these frames by adding some edging to make them look more like actual picture frames? i think that would look classy.

i'll look for the pop-up flash player. sounds interesting.
  9:44am randoman:

Betty Carter has a nice version on I'm Yours, Your Mine
  9:48am Vivian:

Do I sense a mash up of 'September Song' may be around the corner? By the way, anyone else see Andy Breckman on Sunday's SNL special?

  9:49am Civil Defense Guy:

when will i get my 3 hour show of just the testing of the emergency broadcast system? i mean, you can spend a whole show reading the tax code, why not play to my interests for a change?
  9:51am Miriam Eusebio:

You've got the wrong dj. The tax code was Kenny G. I bet he'd play the test for three hours. Ask him!
  9:52am Civil Defense Girl:

I think I'm in love..........
  9:54am Ken:

Sorry, the guys at the local FEMA office, although drunk most of the time, awaken from their stupor hwnever they hear the electronic belching of the EAS system. There can be no messing with the belching...
  9:56am CIVIL DEFENSE CHILD:

Boy, that was quick
  9:58am Jim:

Seksu Roba Pulsar Cruiser .. yeah
  10:02am Wes:

This guy is playing a SAW? That may be the most annoying instrument ever conceived. Stick with cutting wood with that one. Really cuts through the bliss of the previous track like a hot scalpel through brain tissue. No thanks.
  10:04am Civil Defense Dog:

apparently the cheapest saws are the best because they have the thinnest metal.
  10:09am Ken:

Hey Wes, if you don't have anything nice to say, then sit next to me.
  10:10am Listener Miriam:

Ken, what about playing the September Songs at the end of the set? Then getting out is you talking.
(I'm digging those songs, by the way!)
  10:12am JJZ:

The saw made me retreat to headphones because neighbors at work started complaining.
  10:18am Wes:

Ken: So I'm a grump sometimes. Most of the time. You play good stuff.
JJZ: I listen at work, too. Guy next to me asked if it was spaced out sci-fi music from the 50s. Actually, he said "what's that weird music coming from over there" but I knew what he meant...
  10:20am jtm:

Nice Dorothy Parker reference Ken.
  10:23am peter:

Tony Bennett's version is solid! But for maudlin triumph, check out Bing and Frank duet.
  10:25am Ken:

James Brown's version has been located and is coming up, thanks to listener Scott. Now hunting down September Song by Rod McKuen, Lee Hazelwood and Django Rheinhart
  10:26am JJZ:

I need one of those directional speakers like they have in listening stations at stores.
  10:31am ~L:

Nothing says September better than a yard sale. Will there be another WFMU Yard Sale in the parking lot soon? I could use an Autumn Sweater...
  10:35am Marvelitsky:

oh yea!! this is mighty fine
  10:37am Marvelitsky:

I meant the JB version, YES ! of September
  10:37am Sarah:

Thank you Scott, indeed. This is astonishing!
  10:39am Wes:

Leave it to James Brown to turn an ordinary song into toe-tapping funky meltdown excursion into deep fried soul. Heartburn. Best version yet.
  10:48am Dickdong:

Your talking over ?Alsbrecher's? concerto for Jew's Harp. Can we not hear more?
  10:56am Brandon:

I really really love this Githead CD. Its the best thing Colin Newman has been involved in in some time....
  11:17am Listener Sharon:

How 'bout Walter Huston's version from "Knickerbocker Holiday" please! Pretty sure you have it, Ken.
  11:32am Ken:

Is it in the library Monica?
  11:32am Louisville Dan:

Ahhhh, this IS a September Song day. Keep it goin' Ken.
  11:35am jeremy:

+1
bryan ferry's version is the best
  11:36am Kenzo:

Nice job, Ken...the pop-up Accuplayer's debut today is going to be underchallenged, as most of the songs have the same name!
  11:36am monica:

you got the cd awhile back. it's on a trikont comp: Heartbreakers Blue & Lonely, 1927-1946.
maybe MP3 library?
  11:36am Sadie:

Was it just me, or did Bryan Ferry seem to be putting on a bit of a world-weary cabaret style German accent there?
  11:36am steve:

Sinatra's version from Point of No Return is lush and brutal.
  11:37am listener scott:

Ken - I have the Walter Huston version. I'll hand deliver the physical copy to you in the same place as before in a few minutes.
  11:39am jeremy:

the bruises will heal. btw, the version i handed to you seemed to be an updated studio version, not copied off of an lp. i liked the lp version more, but now you've got two from django
  11:41am Rob W:

Ken, yes, the Barbes show Saturday is free! - Rob
  11:46am Mickey Mephistopheles:

I'm enjoying the natural radio recording of the comets; did this come from a download? Share the URL if you will, please.
  11:51am Ken:

  3:56pm Brian:

The flash player is the best way to listen yet! So good to have Ken back, can't wait for tonight's 7SD.
  10:19pm Stunt Man:

Sammy Davis Jr. checked in via Ouija board to remind me of his version of September Song and not to forget him when it's "wichita lineman month"
  2:58pm Dora Emden:

Really enjoying this show while doing payroll *yawn*in San Francisco. (Brown, Lemper and Reinhart especially) Many thanks. I think you should be able to find a good version by Lotte Lenya and there's another one by Lou Reed on a compelation of Weil stuff that has more bass. (the one that goes with a film of videos of all Weil covers) p.s. I listened to your Valentine's Special almost daily while painting for a month.
