Same here! In the town of Morristown, NJ we had one small record shop-- Greymat Music. If they didn't stock it I didn't hear about it. I didn't have a lot of resources like magazines at hand (And the internet was just a gleam in someone's eye). The store buyer had good taste-- I found out about Pearls Before Swine, and a lot of Brit-Folk from them.
  3:56pm
Shannon:

Oh I love this - what's playing now. I hope this is Artisokka...
  4:01pm
paulthepostman:

ANNIE, YES, ha, morris men, sorry ...no but I cut a fine swath cavorting from the beer tent betwixt tent pegs and sober folks with a fine head of froth swaying precariously in a pint of fine ale being careful to draw the attention of the fine morris men ladys as I do so. Even if I say so myself.

"Charlie Brown, you're the only person I know who could take a wonderful station like WFMU and turn it into a problem." I love how the dialog in that show is obviously spliced together from separate takes of a few words each.

Annie, are you still reading? Just listen to the thing. The edits - physical cuts in analog tape - are obvious.
