  9:20am john from oslo:

Left my headphones are at work. Cow-orkers do not like my music.
  9:50am Laurie:

By the way!! It's finally cold again in Miami. We had to suffer through some awful humidity and eighty+ degree days that felt a lot hotter than any day in winter ought to. It shouldn't be hot during wintertime. :(
  9:51am Mark:

May I suggest not living in Miami then?
  9:51am john from oslo:

Oh no, I've been listening to Creedence for the last 50 minutes - damn you codeine cough syrup, damn you codeine cough syrup (thought the playlist was a bit strange)
  9:54am Laurie:

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION, MARK!!

By the way, my Facebook status now lets my friends know that I can't wait for the sequel to My Bloody Valentine 3D, and that it better be called My Bloody Valentine II: Loveless. (Yes, I realize that should actually be the final entry in a trilogy. The sequel should be called My Bloody Valentine: Isn't Anything, and the tagline is, "...But filled with BLOODLUST."
  9:55am Mark:

Hey no problem Laurie. Consider me the bringer of the obvious.
  9:55am Laurie:

Close parentheses.
  9:55am JCityJensen:

You don't have to look to far for crooked politics.......
  9:56am Negator:

Bush is rationalizing his performance so that he will not go off to some quiet insanity. I think EVERYONE who voted for that administration is doing that now. Funny voices and all. Everyone who voted for that guy is doing some serious rationalization so they don't have to face the shortcomings of their philosophy.
  9:56am Lukas:

I am so thrilled about the discovery of new material by Francis E. Dec, Esq. The Computer God was actually created by Slovenic-Polish man and his empirical, scientific agnostic religion of ASTROCISM. Who knew? More: http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2009/01/new-rants-by-francis-e-dec-esq-uncovered.html
  9:57am PMD:

Georgie is trying out his next career - voicing cartoons.
  9:57am Laurie:

I hear Obama does voices for his audio books.
  9:58am Ghengis Jung:

Play the W!
  9:58am Helen Thomas:

I wish I threw a shoe...
  9:58am Megan:

Did Fiorello LaGuardia put on funny voices when he used to read the comics on the old wireless back in the day? I mean, how could you read the funny pages without funny voices? Hmm..
  9:58am detroitdave:

Joe, that was the sound of his balls shriveling up!
  9:59am Cecile:

annie - I gotta see that and A Scanner Darkly.

Just checking in - I got the collating project from hell. If I get it out of the way early, more time to listen.

Happy, happy!
  9:59am Laurie:

Could you play "The Surge Is Working" by The Fun Years??
  9:59am George W Bush:

now that I am - finally - out of office, I can start drinking again and catching SSD in real time.........
  9:59am Mark:

Ike loved doing his Daffy Duck imitation
  9:59am detroitdave:

Sorry, I meant Ken!
  10:00am Andrea:

certainly MY balls shrivelled up at his funny voices. it was very spooky,
  10:00am listener mark:

I love this bit
  10:01am PMD:

Andrea, I guess that was a good thing? I personally wouldn't want balls
  10:01am JCityJensen:

Nice! Ken! Wax Audio! BLASTING VOLUME NOW!

got Dick is a Killer from rx?
  10:02am annie:

cecile it was a mind-blower.. (i love the bush stuff... what fodder for ridicule he's been)
  10:03am Laurie:

I'm just sayin'! "The Surge Is Working" by The Fun Years would be swell right now.
  10:05am Cecile:

ITA.
the Bush stuff should be a 'FMU premium, hint hint.

Or the George Bush Singers, Laurie...

now really, gotta go.
  10:05am Andrea:

Well you lot had Bush, we downunder had a short angry dwarf holding office for a decade. We would have preffered Bush. Truly? well, actually, mnnn.... no.
  10:06am Anagram:

Remember, "God" spelled backwards is "Dog."
  10:06am annie:

cecile, addiction is a terrible thing... yet sweet music to the ears is fmu..
  10:07am Laurie:

Andrea: That short angry dwarf of yours was a super homophobe, right?
  10:07am A Citizen:

A short, angry dwarf is looking pretty good to me by comparison. In fact, I would even concede drunkeness to the dwarfy and still pick him/her.
10:09am Short Angry Dwarf Citizens Brigade:

Watch how you sling the word "dwarf." It can offend.
  10:10am Lizardner Dave:

I too, fear that good political comedy may go away during at least the early portion of the Obama administration. I mean, if "Barack the Magic Negro" is the best the comedy community can come up with we're in for a tough go...
  10:10am snow white:

i want a new title to my story!!
  10:12am Mice:

Could you play the whole Hawaiian song lesson for my friend Pinkly?
  10:12am Cecile:

I'm surprised no one has had Barack speeches over Barry WHite music.

I mean, he could read the phone book and sound sexy, I mean some people might think that.

*blushes*
  10:14am detroitdave:

How do we react to a prez that won't continuously shame us?
  10:15am Vicki:

I love this track (Dave Soldier)

btw Ken, the whole Rhapsody in Glue album by PLU & Ergo was a result of Codpaste - as well at the single you played.
  10:17am Cecile:

dave, it was like when I went to a job where the people liked me. It took as much adjusting to a pleasant situation as it did a bad one. It will takea while, but it will be worth it. I hope.
  10:17am dave in vermont:

no wonder i am having such a bad day-i haven't had the chance to turn on FMU until now
  10:20am Ken:

Yeah Vicki, this new Dave Soldier is fantastic! I salute him!!
  10:20am AnAnonymousParty:

To few bands incorporate the sound of a typewriter in their performances these days, in my opinion.
  10:21am Webhamster Henry:

Dave is just back from Rome - why not invite him on the station for a talk?
  10:22am paulthepostman:

Hi FMULANDERS...Christmas 2009 and George W Bush, now a blubbering emotional wreck, is admitted to an isolated Florida psychiatric clinic. But is he trying to avoid being put on trial..?
'Patient No.1' by Donald Freed ran at Theatre Royal Studio, York UK 2008 (Set Design by my daughter!) and maybe it is time for a wider airing?
Review: http://www.thestage.co.uk/reviews/review.php/20619/
  10:23am Cecile:

where are the elephants?
  10:23am Vicki:

people - check out Dave Soldier here - lots of mp3s to download!
http://davesoldier.com/
I agree he should guest on a show - how about Kenny G having him on eh?
  10:24am Ike:

Belatedly, I raise my hand: I was listening on headphones at 9:23, via FM, on the train. But in mono. And I missed the Groovy thing because I was in a tunnel.
  10:24am Cecile's boss:

Cecile are you done with that collating yet?
  10:26am paulthepostman:

Cecile - you MUST concentrate!
  10:26am annie:

PTP, is that the "design" title?and when will we see it on youtube? yeah cecile, get back to work...
  10:28am Mac:

Ken: in this mileu: how about some "Magic Touch" with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan remixed
  10:28am Laurie:

Cecile, tell your boss to use the collate feature on the copy machine next time.
  10:29am Cecile:

Annie - Patient No.1 was/is it's title and it ran in the theatre, so no youtube, I'm afraid. And I'm unashamedly proud of her!
  10:29am Carmichael:

Good morning Ken and everyone. I see I missed the Teletubbies and Hugo Montenegro in the same set. Drat.
  10:30am annie:

laurie, is bono making any news down there? i would love to know what he's up to now that he is in the food court, as it were..
  10:30am Ken:

What, is Bono running a slushy stand in Miami now? Nobody tells me anything...
  10:31am paulthepostman:

Woops, that was me not C.
  10:31am annie:

(i knew that)
  10:32am Cecile:

I am going. other Cecile posted the patient #1 comment. I am now on the path of collation enlightenment. bye.
  10:32am Mao Jones:

Dow down 250
  10:33am Ken:

Cecile, is someone posting under your name? That is a supreme no-no people. Don't pretend to be other real people. IP scalpel time.
  10:33am Vicki:

Dow is down, but this show is so up
  10:35am Ken:

Folks, I will playing the music from this video sooner or later, but you should also see it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wqOGfTLXGU
  10:35am still b/p:

Bono could maybe run a little Au Bon Peace joint among the shopswarms.
  10:36am Mark:

  10:36am Laurie:

Ha, I love that French MCs sample Serge Gainsbourg.

  10:47am Laurie:

Is the Andy Breckman now on the menu?
  10:47am JCityJensen:

I played that video over and over this is AWESOME!!!!!
  10:50am GP:

I can't see the video but it sounds like they may have possibly sampled, or reworked a bit of the Purple Ones ( Prince) riffs in there.
Good morning to all. My audio is still messed up a bit.
  10:52am jen v:

great show, ken!
  10:55am tengel:

Fork in the Road (posted by Neil Young, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 5:34 p.m. PST): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyfbC2-UzXg

Neil Young stays topical with a song about the bailout.
  10:56am Ken:

Getting economic news from Neil Young is like monkeys throwing darts at the stock market page.

More Mister Groovy coming up!!
  10:57am jan:

Excellent program. Much anticipation for your sonic response to the inaugeration.
  11:00am AnAnonymousParty:

  11:12am paul:

  11:12am Andy in Berlin:

Hi Ken, just checked in -

>My laptop is behaving today! Last week, the problem was actually audio interference on a 20 foot RCA cable.<

I had a similar though more amusing problem with a long cable when I was a kid in film school. We were shooting in a big field and there were no radio mics then for the likes of us so we had this really long cable and when we were shooting a scene with a little boy out in the middle of the field, I happened to notice the sound man with his hands on his headphones and a really weird look on his face. I stopped the shot and went over and he turned to me with same funny look and handed me the headphones. I put them on and the cable was acting like and antenna and was picking up Bobby Darin singing Mack The Knife.
  11:13am Mike:

Ken - quick question if you have the time - I heard rumors of WFMU forum accounts for the playlist message board thingy. Is that coming soon?
  11:15am Ken:

Mike - Yes, quite true. Should be fun. Profile pages, no Math question for members, favoriting songs, song pages automatically created for any song that is favorited. Suggestions welcome.
  11:16am paul:

you heard it here first:

  11:17am Laurie:

Wow, I love that song favoriting idea.

Now if only Tunatic were more accurate during Gaylord's show....
  11:18am Bad Ronald:

  11:19am m009e:

All Fall Long
  11:20am Carmichael:

I'm not sure that I understand this whole "favoriting" concept, but I hope it's "cool".

Internet speak is baffling to me; I'm just a simple caveman.
  11:21am paul:

the internet never lies
  11:21am Mark:

  11:21am Doug from DC:

  11:24am Bad Ronald:

Cool, tx!
  11:24am Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:25am Ike:

Carmichael, I am guessing "favoriting" might allow a user to automatically, quickly note that (s)he loved a particular song. What with my dismal crumbling memory, that would be awesome.
  11:25am Ken:

I am all for anything that is "Cool."
  11:28am Sean Daily:

George Bush is a member of Al-Qaeda? Well, hell, I thought everyone knew that. He's best recruiting sergeant they've ever had.
  11:33am Lukas:

This atrocious song is played by The Right Brothers, btw.
  11:33am Sean Daily:

And I would love to know when this "Bush was Right" song was written.
  11:34am Mark:

Flipper!
  11:34am Harvey:

  11:35am JCityJensen:

  11:36am Bad Ronald:

Romeo Void
  11:36am GP:

Ken,
You got Waylon Jennings "America" up there?

Flipper. I think they qualify as something that is "cool"
I've just started reading the book "American Hardcore" by Stephen Blush...talks a lot about Flipper in there. Plus a lot of othe "cool" stuff.

Romeo Void..more cool!
  11:37am Bad Ronald:

Polar Bear Testicles = Cool
  11:39am GP:

Eskimo Popsicles = Cool
  11:39am kat:

  11:41am annie:

  11:42am GP:

  11:43am MONTREAL:

  11:50am GP:

  11:52am +:

  11:52am Sean Daily:

Why can't you sing like that, Ken?
  11:52am Lukas:

They ice-fish in Maine, too (John Lurie & Willem Dafoe did it, for one), and I've seen it in Montana and in Berlin, Germany, too.

  11:58am Lukas:

This guy sounds like Holger Czukay.
  11:59am Doug from DC:

Funny, the Right Brothers web page doesn't mention them playing any gigs anywhere...there may be potential for a good practical joke here.
  12:00pm Sean Daily:

  12:05pm jan:

well, the first 3 hours of wednesday were great, but something about this ken to ken transitional moment, tells me that the next 3hrs should be avoided.
  12:06pm Doug from DC:

Moe Stooge, Larry Stooge, Curly Joe Stooge
  12:06pm ?:
