A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

GP:

Hello Trouble!

Thanks for the link PostmanPaul, now I have to convert everything to imperial, but some of those look really tasty.
  10:51am
trouble:

i LOVE the live sets, or I wouldn't have them. but some types are anti, And i guess i should just pay them never no mind. Perhaps i am being overly polite this A.M., must be the nose spray making me all emo
  10:53am
annie:

trouble, the music fits the day wonderfully..
all: anyone know cannibal ox?
  10:54am
postmanpaul:

gp, i believe there is a handy converter on the site.
waitrose is my petty bourgeoisie supermarket of choice.
  10:55am
Parq:

People don't like the live sets? God, and I'm usually so upset when I miss one (tuned into Kurt this AM just too late for the Lexi Mt). Can't imagine any FMU listener disliking the live sets, but I guess it takes all kinds.
  10:56am
annie:

PMP- it'll get to to cook again. all i cook now is potatoes and fish and chicken.. hhmm. chicken.. dinner.. hhmm.
  10:56am
Cecile:

not personally, but i've heard a few tracks I like.
  10:56am
Doug from DC:

The Waitrose looks good. They opened a Pret a Manger in DC, but the menu got Americanized. No Scottish Smoked Salmon sandwiches. I miss those.
  10:57am
GP:

Waitrose looks good. I worked on setting up the sites for some of the Tesco Fresh and Easy stores here in the states. Near me we have 3 Whole Foods Market which offer us similar, although expensive, organic choices.
  10:59am
annie:

cecile, was that responding to my Q? here is an interesting review.. i like this blog anyway. very diverse.http://jointcontrast.com/?p=513
  11:00am
GP:

Trouble and Trent, did ya'll change the DJ mic out? THis one sounds all syrupy, compressed, tubey, and WONDERFUL, or heard that you might be working out of a remodeled portion of the studio or something.
  11:05am
john:

The Coronation Chicken was always my favorite Pret sangwich. Again, didn't quite make it here. Presumably due to the fact that we're a republic.
  11:05am
Cecile:

yes, you asked about Cannibal Ox.
  11:05am
GP:

P.s.: What kind of mic are you using and are you uising the boards preamp or do you have a separate mic preamp?

Sorry, in a techie mood today!
  11:06am
annie:

cool, i just saw that review and vid and wondered if it would interest anyone..
  11:06am
trouble:

GP: we are in studio b in prep for the fundraising marathon, so yes this mike sounds different than the studio A mike.
  11:06am
Cecile:

Am I the only one hearing "Coronation" by Tin Huey in her head right now?

I guess so.
  11:08am
trouble:

GP: you got the wrong girl. I just play the songs that make the whole world sing. I don't know nothing about birthin' no techie things...
  11:10am
Bad Ronald:

Sounds like a telefunken u47, with leather...
  11:13am
GP:

LOL Bad Ronald...I thought the same thing.

Trouble, just keep the sounds coming our way, but for what its worth you sound even more wonderful on the Studio B setup!
  11:13am
SmokinJ:

More like a Audio Technica condenser+board pre...
  11:14am
Techie Glenn L:

GP & BR the Studio B host mic is a large diaphragm Audio Technica (I believe) going into an Audio Arts R-60 Broadcast console. No outboard mic pre's or onboard Eq's.
Not even sure where the phantom is coming from.
  11:15am
SmokinJ:

Thought so..
  11:16am
Techie Glenn L:

You're been on "the inside", Smokin J!
YOU KNEW!!
  11:18am
SmokinJ:

No, I'm a broadcast eng:) (really)
  11:18am
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:18am
GP:

Good ear Smokin J, and thanks Techie Glenn
  11:19am
SmokinJ:

And thanks for the compliment:)
  11:21am
Doug from DC:

Let's try that again...
Great set by the way, quite a trip.
  11:22am
trouble:

but i do find it so sweet that you guys thought that i would actually speak tech.
  11:23am
annie:

always a first time trouble. and you must be absorbing it slowly, anyway, through exposure.. :)
  11:25am
not_a_techmanpaul:

i reckon i'm in safe hands here.
  11:29am
GP:

Talk nerdy to me!
  11:29am
Pro Moe:

Join us for "Sandwiches 'n Studio Gear," Thursday mornings in the WFMU Listener Comments. Mmmm, tasty.
  11:35am
annie:

i love that word, "tristesse".
  11:37am
annie:

PMP- speaking of birds.. my fave bird sound is the sound of the courting chickadee, which, for the longest time, i thought was a phoebe.. turns out to be a chickadee.. looong low two toned whistle.. almost like gooooood;byyyyee.
  11:37am
Cecile:

tristesse and isolde
  11:37am
trouble:

annie, have you seen the movie /read the book: "bonjour tristesse", written by francoise sagan? the movie features juliette greco in a cameo.
  11:39am
annie:

trouble,. i have heard of it and just linger on that phrase, never get past it..i am writing it down now..thanks for the info.. any chickadees in your cache?
  11:42am
Parq:

"Live for Life" really takes me back to my childhood in the 60s, listening to my now-deceased father's music of choice. Play "Girl from Ipanema" and I may start to cry.
  11:45am
Doug from DC:

It really does bug me that bands won't indicate 33 or 45 rpm on their singles anymore. I'm still not sure about some of the ones I've got.
  11:46am
T & T & Y & L:

When she passes, he smiles, but she doesn't see.
  11:49am

Is a Wilf a wrangler I'd...you know..
  11:50am
Parq:

T & T & Y & L, all that Bain de Soilel is making her eyes water, no doubt.
  11:52am
Cecile:

for that san tropez tan!
  11:55am
GP:

Dang, Curtis was psychic, predicting 2008 and all that,
  11:57am
Parq:

Anybody remember that "Far Side" cartoon titled "Things from Ipanema"? The dog -- the girl -- the salesman -- the homicidal maniac --
  11:57am
Doug from DC:

GP, the more things change...
  11:58am
annie:

within the deep reaches of my brain parq...yes.
  12:18pm
Barry:

Hey Trouble, did you see Lykke Li on Carson Daily. She had the whole show. He compared her to Stevie Nicks, which seemed weird until she sang. She really has that same extravagant romantic thing - hiding in the folds of her clothes, jingling her necklace appropriately - a strange mix with the seemingly obligatory - you're not the only one who has a right to be here - stance of today's 20-somethings.
  6:49pm
murry:

do you like herman dune? I love all your playlists...i wondered what you thought
