  3:26pm
Cecile:

YAYAYAYAY! Lizzy!
I remember '83 well, even thought i was drunk for most of it.
And my first radio show was then, too.

Scott Gorham ID?!?!?!?!?
  3:27pm
Pearly Sweets:

Play some Gong.
  3:27pm
Cecile:

hehheheheh Diane is old, I mean young, like me.
  3:30pm
Golden Sours:

You should destroy it with some Burning Witch. I pledge to rock really fucking hard for some Burning Witch.
  3:30pm
dc diane:

  3:44pm
GP:

Save me a brownie!....dang it, don't have enough funds to contribute to everyone...stop tempting me!
  3:45pm
BSI:

hm...... uh....
....it's the SUN in my HANDS, man...
  3:49pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  3:50pm
BSI:

good LORD, Diane, I thought I was the only one with the Police State 7" .. hell, that was a long time ago...
  3:58pm
CamelCaseForYourFace:

you can make acid anything.... actually the heat might ruin it if you put it in the mix... but if you dosed the frosting or put drops on later it would almost certainly work... oh and send me one.
  3:59pm
kristi:

yo diana ur the shit yo i love the brownie convo!!!
  4:00pm
AnAnonymousParty:

I believe heat destroys Vitamin A, so you can't bake it into a brownie, bit you could add it after they cooled.
  4:01pm
dc pat:

Oh MAN! I remember Option Mag. That was great.
  4:01pm
smitty in baltimore:

just pledged & forgot to leave my '83 memory:

shaved-headed, high school thug in the american south.
  4:02pm
Steve in Hundson Valley:

Pledged! And you should too.
  4:02pm
Paul B:

Asbestos Rockpyle: No I've got this 7" too I used to be a housemate of this guy (whose name also was Paul. We lived in one of these tiny apartments just off campus (UMD) on Knox rd. that were called knox boxes. At the time he would claim occaisionally he believed he was the antichrist, and would talk about 'being about his fathers business.' He was actually a nice guy once you got used to him.
  4:08pm
Joe From Korea:

1984? In Japan, trying to figure it all out. Now, its 2009, and I am in Korea, still trying to figure it all out. Times change, people change, loud loud music remains constant!
  4:09pm
BSI:

Paul B: That might explain it... I found the Rockpyle single at the Record&Tape Exchange in College Park MD, back in the ancient days...

Oh, and BSI in those days was a miserable youngster, suffering high-school with torn army fatigues & long hair + randomly shaved bits (mocking those undergoing chemo, mebbe?) ... stylish, no?
  4:13pm
Juan:

I saw Carcass last week, opening for Iron Maiden. It was sweet.
  4:14pm
Steve in Hudson Valley:

Carcass! Didn't see them live till '90. Man, I'm old.

In '84 I went to my first concert: Judas Priest on the Defenders tour, 10th row. I was 13. That big Metallion on stage, whoah. Melted my brain.
  4:26pm
Laurie:

I had a lot of luck the first year I did the prize account thing. Last year I made an irrationally exuberant thread and didn't win any prizes, but I was more than happy with my premiums! This year, I've already won TWO prizes. This is my first day listening live, post-vacation and marathon volunteering! Like the Jay Reatard song goes, IT'S SO EASY. Especially with monthly payment plans!
  4:29pm
Laurie:

Do you guys like my sales pitch? I wrote that in 30 seconds. I expect a call from Madison Avenue any day now. I think I inherited advertising genes from my mom, who was a Mad-Woman for Young & Rubicam in the '70s or something.
  4:33pm
Steve in Hudson Valley:

Sweet! I'll gladly take DNA from other DJs on that book. Hail Diane and WFMU. All of you pledge! All of you!
  4:36pm
Laurie:

TORCHE. I saw them at Churchill's Pub recently. They toured with Boris and are an amazing somewhat local band!! Proud to lay claim to at least half of that band as South Florida-grown!
  4:56pm
Liz in Halcott, NY:

Pledged online and forgot to say how much I'm loving the Kelly/Diane Kamikaze tag team.
Oh yeah 1983 I went to see Liquid Sky and was thinking what the f**k?
  4:57pm
Bronwyn C.:

FRANK O'TOOLE! Not "Franklin." FRANK O'TOOLE.
What a great show that was. Diane kept saying, "Shut up, Frank." Sluggo remembers it fondly, too. I think it was 1989? 1990? It was the first Marathon in the E. Orange house, I think.
  4:58pm
Bronwyn C.:

OMG--Liquid Sky! That movie is what I thought life in New York would be like. I moved here, like, a year later.
  5:00pm
BSI:

egad, folks, don't get ME AND MY RHYTHM BOX stuck in my head for ANOTHER 25 years...
  5:03pm
Pearly Sweets:

Diane, could you please destroy our bodys and minds with Trouble's The Temptor?
  5:07pm
Glenn L:

I love a girl who'll belch on the air.
  5:09pm
Ike:

Aw man, I missed belching. Damn.
  5:10pm
Bad Ronald:

Beer belch!
  5:11pm
evan in montreal:

my girlfriend swears by drinking soda with a straw with some small holes popped in it...
  5:13pm
G:

Is that foreplay, Evan? :-P
  5:13pm
Glenn L:

If Diane will burp on the air for the next year everyone should send bottles of seltzer to the station. After pledging of course.
What flavor you like Diane?
  5:14pm
Steve in Hudson Valley:

If you don't pledge, you deserve to be locked in a room playing nothing but Billy Joel till the day you die. None of you want that to happen, so do the right thing.
  5:22pm
The Log Lady:

I heard the EAS tones over the web! All is good, babes.
  5:22pm
BSI:

wow, sounds like the Discordians are in da house.
ZAP. You are all Popes.
  5:26pm
Golden Sours:

Inergy is also on a comp from Secretly Canadian.
  5:29pm
Sean Daily:

I'm not a pope, BSI. I ain't doin any of that middleman shit. I'm a fucking GOD.
  5:29pm
Jared from MN:

WhooHoo! I got a call out!
  5:34pm
BSI:

Sean;
good point, but you're passin' up that really groovy refrigerator-lookin' car with the plexiglass cube dealie thing...
  5:34pm
V Ron:

Favorite CAddy Shack Scene:
When Bill Murray finds the "poop" (candy bar) at the bottom of the pool and bites it. People faint.
  5:41pm
Silver Tarts:

My favorite part of Caddyshack II: Keep On Shakin', is when Jackie Mason makes a hilarious aside about what is currently going on in the scene.
  5:48pm
V Ron Ica:

Holy Crappoli... The first time I've heard your show. It's great. I'm broke BTW.
  5:51pm
stingy d:

in 1985.... i know it doesn't count... but i was 3... and i drank punch that had acid in it. 4 or 5 cups. bad parents.
  5:51pm
Sean Daily:

I don't have to pass it up, BSI, because I'M THE GOD!

BZZZAAAAT!

Look! A Popemobile with spinnies and hydros!
  5:53pm
William T. Buckwiggles IV:

Kenny G already sucked all of the money out of my eyeballs and spit them into a jar. Pip pip.
  5:53pm
Janna:

Kinda wanted a real fetus. :( hahah thanks guys... called you from the bathroom of a tattoo studio.... and thank you for burping my name.. or atempting to
  5:58pm
Ike:

Stingy, that explains a LOT. I'm not sure you ever got over that.

V Ron, you don't have to pay now. You can pledge now and pay later.
  6:02pm
stingy d:

luckily i can get past an errant apostrophe

great show diane and kelly! you guys are tons of fun!
  8:00pm
Reverend Loveshade:

Thanks to Diane and Kelly for saying, "Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!" on the air--and at 23 minutes after the hour, no less. Pretty amazing considering they claimed they didn't know what it meant....

Reverend "discordia.loveshade.org" Loveshade
  9:10pm
Georgia Handley:

Fund raisers are usually awful, if necessary (and much better than commercials). But your station has the best fundraisers I've never heard. You're great!
