Discuss: What others bands are often said to have once been good before a certain point, but actually always SUCKED giant donkey member? Another is Steely Dan. They always SUCKED.

	1:05pm dc pat: I hepped my 3 year old son to the Clash's first album the other day and afterward, he was walking around the grocery singing "Ride, ride! I wanna ride!..."
	1:07pm Scott: Soon the kid'll be singing "I'm so bored with Uncle Pat"! WR, I 'm down - but they were hardly stripped when they came here -- full on strings & horns. Glorious tho, and definitely haunted
	1:08pm Ike: DC Punk, wow, it's you and me against the Steely Dan-loving world (of WFMU DJs). I was caught off guard when another station, which usually sticks to modern sounds, had some awful old album cut by the Who... I tried to escape from the smegma of the SMB and ended up with the Who and that sent me into a frothing-at-the-mouth classic-mainstream-rock-hating frenzy. I love the Delgados. And Home!
	1:12pm G.: I'm not sure that the relative priority of CV's plane flight from London to Brasil vs. the release of Transa is crucial, but he worked on the album while still in London, according to the Portuguese-language wikipedia entry on the album. Translating: "in London he recorded at the end of the year [1971] the LP with the name "Transa", released in Brasil in January of 1972, when the singer returned definitively to the country [Brasil]."

	1:13pm Cecile: I've had enough us vs. them this week to last the rest of the year. Can you find Transa only as an expensive import?

	1:14pm james: I had to listen agreeably to an old friend who droned on in his stoned ramblings about how wunderful Steely Dan was ... I said they sound the same each time they played - he insisted you have to be reall into them to hear the subtle differences each time they play. Yawn. I did not know any better in the 70's when I listened to them passively. I hate them now.

As for Steely Dan, I can appreciate them more than I can dig them -- I think the only song I've played by them is "Everyone's gone to the movies", which is a totally sick celebration of pervo pedo action that sounds like the Carpenters. Unless you count that Space Needle song i just played, which is the greatest fucking cover of "Black Cow" (are there many? dunno)
	1:19pm The World: And besides, Irwin f'ed me yesterday for his damn b'day. It still hurts. But sort of a good kind of hurt. {wink}

I was caught off guard when another station, which usually sticks to modern sounds, had some awful old album cut by the Who... I tried to escape from the smegma of the SMB and ended up with the Who and that sent me into a frothing-at-the-mouth classic-mainstream-rock-hating frenzy. I love the Delgados. And Home!
	1:12pm G.: I'm not sure that the relative priority of CV's plane flight from London to Brasil vs. the release of Transa is crucial, but he worked on the album while still in London, according to the Portuguese-language wikipedia entry on the album. Translating: "in London he recorded at the end of the year [1971] the LP with the name "Transa", released in Brasil in January of 1972, when the singer returned definitively to the country [Brasil]."

I said they sound the same each time they played - he insisted you have to be reall into them to hear the subtle differences each time they play. Yawn. I did not know any better in the 70's when I listened to them passively. I hate them now.

Unless you count that Space Needle song i just played, which is the greatest fucking cover of "Black Cow" (are there many? dunno)
