Listener comments!

  9:00am -max-:

Tag! You're it!!
  9:01am BSI:

Ken, Ken, Ken...
Can I seize the day?
Can I, actually, seize this mofo?
  9:02am annie:

third comment!!
  9:02am Ghengis Jung:

Please hurt us Ken!
  9:03am Lizardner Dave:

Mornin' Ken. I suppose this would be a bad week to say "poke!", right?
  9:08am paul:

is this zachary brimstead's slow jam album?
  9:12am Ken:

Morning all! Traktor Pro strikes again!! Lost my entire show two minutes before I went on the air.
  9:14am Bad Ronald:

Attention citizens of the New York metropolitan area: At approximately 11:45 am four F-18 Hornets will buzz through the harbor and up the Hudson at an altitude of roughly 2000 feet. Do not be alarmed. That is all.

Oh, and I love "Coney Island Baby"!
  9:14am -max-:

Is the software to blame, or could it be that the evil Dell laptop has struck again?
  9:15am PMD:

mornin' all! Sorry Ken...
  9:16am Parq:

When I was a lad, I thought that "wire mom" pic was one of the cruelest, most depressing things I'd ever seen, and all it did was "prove" the obvious. Now as a geezer, I find that a large number of people have always agreed with me. Vindicated!
  9:17am jan:

Brown Whornet, Act one excerpt is just one reason why Ken's show is not to be missed.
  9:18am BSI:

...mommy...
  9:19am annie:

i saw a great film last night.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052655/

classic!!!
  9:20am Devin:

Morning.
  9:21am Ken:

Parq - Dont say nuthin' bad about my mother. I dont wanna have to ban you.
  9:23am Parq:

Fair enough. Is she the one on the left or the right?
  9:24am reeds lou:

the story behind that monkey picture is very sad indeed: the poor little guys would rather be with a comforting cloth mother than eat .
  9:24am -max-:

Really, Parq! How insensitive!
  9:25am Ghengis Jung:

Kensday
  9:25am Devin:

A piece of my banana "flew" into my coffee... Good morning Ken!
  9:27am trish:

85 -- that's a lotta times for something that isn't all that pleasant
  9:27am John from Oslo:

Happy Wednesday Ken!

Wikipedia:
The name comes from the Middle English Wednes dei, which is from Old English language Wēdnes dæg, meaning the day of the English god Woden (Wodan) who was a god of the Anglo-Saxons in England until about the 7th century.
  9:28am bb:

traktor 3 now fighting the hell out of my new HP. the one with 4 gb of memory and a decent sound card...at a loss.

nothing like it when traktor suddenly drops or finds an entire playlist to be faulty tracks...
  9:29am sugarwolf:

If wire mom is Ken's mom, does that mean Ken is the sad little monkey?
  9:29am Cecile:

Good morning. My modem is dead, but I am coming to you via Bruegger's

Ken, did they make you drink that GoLytely stuff.
  9:30am PMD:

Ken, you were serious that you woke up??? Oh dear.
  9:30am Cecile:

I am crying laughing at this.
  9:31am Cecile:

but yeah PMD, that is scary
  9:31am PMD:

Oh, I so love that. Just like Fantastic Voyage!
  9:31am Michelle:

This is so exciting! I'm actually getting to listen to the show live today! Ken, your tale of the colonoscopy is compelling and rich.
  9:31am Mac:

colonoscopy is like a walk in the park... Prospect Park at 2am.
They are tearing up my street. My house is dancing. Screw tractor Pro.
Give me my Monkey Mommy before I cry.
  9:32am Cecile:

wire mothers temple
  9:32am Cecile:

I love you Ken.
  9:33am Lizardner Dave:

I had to lower the volume in my office during the bondage thing.

On the other hand....DOOPEE TIME!!!!!
  9:33am hugh:

Ken,
when I woke up, everyone kept saying "TAKE DEEP BREATHS", & boom, I was gone again
  9:33am Mark Twainus:

I once listened to this song on repeat for my entire day at work.
  9:33am -max-:

I woke up in the middle of a wisdom tooth extraction, back when they used sodium pentathol. They had just cracked the tooth in half, and my eyes shot open. Not what one wants at that point.
  9:36am BSI:

Ken, bless you for mixing down the background during that "put your head down" line... now I can get a clean sample & abuse it with rigorous glee.
  9:36am doug from dc:

Max, at least they tried to put you under. They just shot me up with a big booster of valium and broke out the chisel.
  9:36am PMD:

Cecile, are you made of wire?
  9:37am PMD:

I had 3 impacted wisdom teeth and I *chose* not to be put under. It was fascinating in a very very sick way to see just what they do to you to get the teeth out. I looked like the elephant woman the next day.
  9:37am G:

Had my first colonoscopy three months ago. I lost over 15 pounds in water and digestive-system contents in six hours during the evening before the procedure, after following elaborate over-laxativizing instructions. I don't think my body was back to normal functioning for the better part of a week.
  9:38am Cecile:

No, unfortunatly. I'm made of a lot of stupid meat and gristle which breaks down and necessitates the need to visit junkie anesthesiologists.
  9:39am Parq:

Carl Stalling? This don't sound like no Looney Tunes to me!
  9:39am Cecile:

G, I just did that prior to surgery.
I bounced back pretty quick. I kept asking the doctor "when can I eat again? whwhen do I get to eat again?"
  9:39am Devin:

PMD, Same here, I chose not to be put under for my extractions... I had to tell them to stop after the 3rd one.
  9:40am paul:

YOU'RE GOING TO GRETCHEN'S HOUSE!!!
  9:41am -max-:

Then there was the time that the Novocaine didn't take. There is only so much they can shoot in there, and then it stops working. In the middle of multiple extractions, the dentist asked me, so what do you want me to do? I wanted to tell him to stand still while I look for something to hit him upside his head with....
  9:41am G:

Yeah, it took me awhile before I was sure I knew what an appetite really felt like again. I adjust, but I have to think it through first.
  9:44am PMD:

Devin, I just inhaled more of the laughing gas. I didn't laugh, but made it through. I also have experienced the multiple shots (like 5) of novocaine when getting a bridge replaced and still feeling shit, but I just cried and let them finish. Damn, I should be in the army or something.
  9:45am G:

I mean, did I feel hungry? Or just yucky and messed up? What is actually the difference, anyway? What if I ate when I felt yucky not really hungry, and ended up feeling worse than before? Etc.

Our bodies are doing lots of stuff on autopilot we really don't think about till they get thrown off.
  9:48am b.bell:

My dentist tells me that women can handle pain far better than men. When I have fillings done, I do not take any novacaine (or whatever painkiller they use these days) because it is worse to suffer a numb face all day than to just tolerate a little drilling. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, though, I did have novacaine, and the best part was the Demerol I was sent home with.
  9:48am jojo:

now by endorsing NPR you are indirectly endorsing fox, fox news, and their fine programming, necessitating some hideous mashup IMFO
  9:51am -max-:

Ah, Demerol!! There's a drug for forgetting your worries. And everything else, for that matter.
  9:51am sugarwolf:

when I had my wisdom teeth removed, I couldn't swallow pills, so I didn't get to enjoy any sweet post-op drugs
  9:53am G:

Was shot up w/ Demerol in an ER for a bad back spasm once. I totally see how people would get addicted to it...
  9:53am Ken:

By the way, if anybody cares to submit code for a playlist picture, make a small version that is 270 pixels wide, host the small and large version on your own server and then post html code like this for me:

  10:00am Janet H:

Good Morning All!
  10:04am annie:

morning janet!!
  10:05am Janet H:

Good Morning Annie!
  10:05am Lizardner Dave:

Hi Janet. Just joined the hippie noise? Here's the show so far: Ken woke up during his colonoscopy and Traktor Pro ate today's music selection. Then Ken had to wing it and is throwing together a great show anyway against all odds. Meanwhile the chat list has been sharing waking-up-during-minor surgery experiences, the definition of Wednesday and their favorite pharmaceuticals.

Oh, and we had a corn weenie sighting.

Now you're all caught up.
  10:05am ovid:

good morning janet h - i hope all is well.
  10:08am BSI:

BSI inflicted a Corn Weenie flashback on some confused folks at the Velvet Lounge (DC) a couple o' weeks ago, with fellow weenies Violet & Pilesar... it was a sloppy fun blast.

The lesson is: the Weenie never dies, nor does it become stale, nor does it offer any nutritional value.
  10:09am Janet H:

Dave: Thanks for filling me in!

Ovid: Everything is good here!
  10:12am Janet H:

Booo for CVS!!
  10:13am annie:

however much i love hanging out here in the sandbox with all the boys and girls; i must hie me out the doors! too nice to sit here.. maybe i'll be back..... maybe..
  10:14am bw:

I used to want a pig pet! damn! why you such a HARD ASS manager

Yo, Ken, that's POT-bellied pig. They're all pork bellied (sort of the point of being a pig).

  10:20am Children's Book Editor:

Heather Has Two Daddies.
  10:27am Janet H:

Can I take that picture and put Dong Sun in it, saying "Please don't divorce my dads".....?
  10:27am chris:

morning ken, glad you enjoyed the photo!
  10:29am Ken:

Yes Janet! Please do!!
  10:31am Ken:

I want to see at least 11 of you at the UCB Theater tonight for the Seven Sec Delay show. 307 West 26th Street, near 8th ave
  10:32am G:

Why 11? Is 11 the "evil quorum"?
  10:33am JJZ:

Maybe when the show comes out on the road to Chicago.
  10:34am Joshua K:

R. I. P. Slyme. We will miss you.
  10:34am Ken:

11 is what we need from this show in order to sell out. From each according to his whatever...
  10:35am Lizardner Dave:

11 is one of them Klingon things isn't it? And by "Klingon" I mean Jewish, of course.
  10:35am Ken:

I'm with you on that, JJZ!
  10:36am Michelle:

I second the request for a Chicago road show!
  10:36am chris:

JJZ - where in chicago are you?
  10:37am dc pat:

or to DC--half the commenters live in DC.
  10:37am Janet H:

sorry that was me saying...I'm with you on that, JJZ! ....LOL!....I NEED MY COFFEE!!
  10:37am chris:

i have to 3rd the chicago road trip
  10:37am G:

The venue gave you sales stats! Wow, you guys really got it together!!
  10:38am AnAnonymousParty:

Trog never said much and, although he had a certain funk about him, he was still the best chiropractor in town.
  10:39am Seven Second City:

I'll second the Chicago trip. How feasible would it be to start videocasting the show?
  10:39am chris:

7SD - a US tour maybe?
  10:40am Parq:

Ken, 'fraid you're going to have to get along without me at UCB tonight. I'm going to School of Rock and I'm too old for two shows in one night, I'd have an aneurism, and then I'd have to learn how to spell it.
  10:43am Carmichael:

Interesting morning, Ken and other inhabitants.
  10:43am Ken:

That's the last straw Parq. You're banned.
  10:44am paul:

i saw dan play at the intersection of the JMZ trains where the M branches off and goes north to queens... there was a show in brooklyn right at that intersection. it was amazing!!!
  10:44am Janet H:

Yea, Bring Andy to the Chicago Area!
  10:44am HotRod:

Hello, Mountain Man!
  10:45am Cecile:

  10:47am Not Parq, really:

  10:47am dc pat:

  10:50am Cecile:

  10:52am Jorge:

This guy should stay away from his roomate's meds.
  11:03am paul:

is this guy mrs. mcwiggin's hipster cousin or something?
  11:03am BSI:

He could be a double-agent from J&H Productions...
  11:05am still b/p:

If you want his address, you can probably get it from the makers of Marlboros, who I'm sure send him a Christmas card, a calendar and warm regards every year.
  11:07am ovid:

  11:08am AnAnonymousParty:

It just goes to show you that you can be too drunk to drive, but never too drunk to dial the phone.
11:08am Freddy: Formerly of West Orange Plumbing Supply:

Hey Ken and WFMU message board
  11:12am PMD:

What did I miss?? I was in a meeting.
11:12am Freddy: Formerly of West Orange Plumbing Supply:

That is such a great family photo
  11:12am dc pat:

goddammit! Step out to take the fuckin compost out and I miss the minutemen!
  11:13am -max-:

Apparently Freddy lost his job...
  11:13am PMD:

Freddy, did you quit? Or no more business??
  11:14am Not Parq, really:

PDM, some guy named Parq is banned, but I'm definitely not him.
11:15am Curtis Mayfield of West Orange Plumbing Supply:

Freddy's dead...to us.
  11:16am GP:

Is that dad in the family photo wearing a clerical collar?
  11:16am Tom Green:

Freddy got fingered.
  11:17am Ken:

OK Parq, you're unbanned
  11:18am -max-:

GP sez: "Is that dad in the family photo wearing a clerical collar?" That would go a long way towards explaining the creepiness.
  11:18am Carmichael:

And shorts. I could dig learnin' 'bout Jesus from him.
  11:18am ovid:

this song sounds a lot like that outkast song
  11:19am Janet H:

Ok Ken I added Dong Sun! It's on your fb wall!
  11:19am PMD:

I also seemed to have missed that Andy and Ken have a love child...
  11:21am b.bell:

re: "Family Portrait", is he a postman or a priest?
  11:21am Ike:

Recently I tried listening in FM stereo again. No dog whistle! Where'd that screeching dog whistle go? Nobody told me! Now THERE is something to really WOO HOO about! Or is it just hiding, ready to jump back out suddenly, just to fuck with me?
11:22am Freddy: Formerly of West Orange Plumbing Supply:

I had to quit. I'm moving to Atlanta
  11:24am Ken:

Ike, the doh whistle is gone! We have WMFU Engineer David to thank for that. It was a bum exciter.
  11:25am FCC:

It was a WHAT?!
  11:26am Carmichael:

Gotta run off to another meeting. See you over at that freak Kenny G's board.
  11:26am dc pat:

yeah, where do you get those bum exciters?
  11:26am PMD:

Freddy, I hope you like the idea you're moving to Atlanta!
  11:27am Ike:

YAY! It's always bad to get bums excited. I guess they're good at creating horrible high-pitched whistles while sitting around their alleyway trash can fires in the back of a Japanese restaurant in West Orange.
  11:27am What!:

Who doesn't love bum exciters?
  11:33am GP:

Ken, I'm sure Paris has a few spare "plug receptacles" (wink wink), next time I see her I'll ask.
  11:34am bum:

i thought a bum exciter was someone who went around working up bums
  11:34am Parq:

"horrible high-pitched whistles while sitting around their alleyway trash can fires in the back of a Japanese restaurant in West Orange" would be a good name for a -- wait, no it wouldn't, not thinking straight, never mind.
  11:35am texas scott:

please don't excite those bums...they are so cranky, when you wake them!
  11:35am Janet H:

Run Lola Run!!
  11:35am andy:

which is more fun to be with, me or the cardboard cut-out of me?
  11:36am GP:

Is that Frangry in that pic?
  11:36am annie:

just couldn't stay away, returning for the last gasp.
  11:38am Janet H:

wb annie!
  11:39am GP:

I forgot to add...she scares me just a bit.
  11:40am -max-:

Redhead on the lawn is Ang, I believe.
  11:40am steve:

colonoscopies, there's an ap for that, sucka
  11:42am John McCabe in LA:

"Is that Frangry in that pic"

  11:51am PMD:

  11:55am GP:

WOO hoo!.Texas Republic......wait "will be part of Mexico." WTF? dangit.
  11:55am Kent Downing:

White Punks on Dope certainly gave a boost to my morning. Thanks, Ken.
  11:57am Parq:

The Ex sounds like someone driving a truck. And I mean that totally in a good way.
  11:57am AnAnonymousParty:

  12:00pm John McCabe in LA:

  12:01pm GP:

  12:02pm PMD:

That Paris part sounds like a boondoggle to me.
  12:03pm GP:

  12:04pm GP:

That would be least favorite "word"
  12:06pm alberti:
