Listener comments!

  12:06pm
Carmichael:

Hiya Scott and listeners.
  12:06pm
Cecile:

good morning carm, scott and everyone
  12:09pm
Scott:

Hi pals, hey who don't love swans??
  12:10pm
Cecile:

I loved them on record.
Live, we got bored after ten minutes and went and got fried chicken. Then we came back looking happy and wiping our faces. Everyone knew something was up...
  12:11pm
Carmichael:

I sure liked Swan on Phantom of the Paradise.
  12:13pm
Cecile:

Is today "S" day? Because that would be cool.
  12:14pm
Carmichael:

"S"cott ....
  12:17pm
Cecile:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  12:18pm
Ike:

I once had a roommate whose cat was named Styx. That was one dumb, incontinent cat. I can get along with almost any cat, but not that one. But this song is even dumber. ;)
  12:18pm
Glenn L:

What Cecile said.
  12:19pm
Scott:

Oh, just act like you didn't know. Guess it's too late for that huh...
  12:21pm
Jamie:

I was in Chacago last week and Styx was playing in Grant Park, but I didn't know. I'm just walking down the street and all of a sudden I hear Come Sail Away blasting loud and clear. I was totally looking for the gathering of angels, it was so creepy and trippy.
  12:22pm
Jonathan Steinke:

I hope I'm reading all this info right about 6FS getting back together. Suh-weet.
  12:22pm
Cecile:

is dennis de young back with them, or are they still feudin'?
  12:23pm
Carmichael:

When I was talking about finding Odessa in a used CD place, I also saw the largest collection of Dennis DeYoung solo CDs ever. Even more than Stacey Q.
  12:35pm
Sean:

Great show so far Scott. Greetings from California. Speaking of Phantom of the Paradise, the remake looks blasphemous.
  12:39pm
dc pat:

I'm always impressed with Ike's concern for other people's musical sensibilities. I always agree with him too.
  12:41pm
Ike:

"If you didn't know, you wouldn't've said nothing." NOT TRUE. I didn't know who it was at first, because I was listening while working. But my immediate reaction was, "Wow, whatever this is, IT REALLY REALLLLLY BLOWS!" ;) :P And then I saw that it was Styx, and I was like, "No wonder!" True story! (But the rest is excellent so far!)
  12:43pm
dc pat:

...like I said...
  12:45pm
Ike:

Hi DC Pat! Thanks for your message of support for the unrepentant, loving critic! Oh, how I cherish free speech.
  12:47pm
Sean:

Hurrah! Free speach!
  12:50pm
dc pat:

Yes I too fucking LOVE free speech, especially right the fuck here on Scott's playlist. Fuck yeah!!
  12:54pm
Scott:

Great, so we're all on the free speech=good tip. Hey, who don't love rock music??
  12:54pm
Sean:

I hear this in my head when I do my taxes.
  12:56pm
Scott:

Hey, who don't love a flood watch?? Stay tuned Nassau & Fairfield counties...
  12:58pm
Sean:

Good thing I won't be back east until September. Stay dry you guys.
  12:58pm
Parq:

I am not necessarily in favor of free speech, but unfortunately, no one is willing to pay me for them.
  12:59pm

  12:59pm
Scott:

Someone jump Parq!
  1:01pm
Sean:

Jump? How high?
  1:04pm
Sean:

Shouldn't we have changed the emergency alert system by now...its a little played out.
  1:06pm
dc pat:

would it make any difference if you just played a tape of Ken going "Aaaaaaaaaaarrrgh! Aaaaaaaaaaarrrgh! Aaargh! Aaargh! Aaaaaaaaaaarrrgh"
  1:09pm
Parq:

@Sean, 1:10 - not at all; I'm at work, y'know.
  1:10pm
stingy d:

it's gonna rain all fun day. i hate that. scott i'ma come over tomorrow tho
  1:13pm
Cecile:

I got caught in a storm in St. Paul yesterday.
Lightning, hail, wind, torrential rain.

HAH-RIB-BLE

I'm really getting to like this Theo Angell song
  1:13pm
Ike:

This set is buttery deliciousness. Mink Lungs (rock!), Hank Williams, spacey sounds, nice!
  1:15pm
maria L:

yes. Love. Angell.

I want him to have huge success, yet I want him to remain the best kept secret. Know what I mean?
  1:18pm
Cecile:

I do, I do!
  1:20pm
anyone to everyone:

This is a very good song. Good on you.
  1:23pm
BSI:

How the hell did it get to be this late?
I've been catching up on all of the Amanda goodness I missed yesterday (meetings during Irwin's show makes the baby Stalin cry)

  1:30pm

  1:35pm
anyone to scott williams:

i see. i hope it comes back in the fall there.
  1:46pm
Chris G:

Hey Scott, fun FACTOID!

Heard you talking up Popol Vu before......

DID YOU KNOW they named themselves after the Mayan creation myth that tells of a group of "footballers" in an intense game of pre-historic jai alai using the heads of vanquishd competitors as a ball?

Do you care?

They created our universe as the story goes... I have an animated documentary thatt tells the story.
  1:50pm
Scott:

Hi Chris G! Sure, I knew all about that Mayan Creation Myth, but I was sketchy on the details.
  2:02pm
Cecile:

Is this rastakraut disc still in print?
  2:04pm
Cecile:

can you play "it's an attack" by Was/Not Was? Another good burning city song
  2:05pm
brock:

  2:07pm
Cecile:

  2:09pm
Cecile:

oooh, Kompakt 10 is out...

wow, that was released almost 30 years ago? It still sounds fresh.
  2:11pm
anyone to everyone:

they dont make music like this anymore eh? or do they?
  2:23pm
Cecile:

My favorite scream is the one that opens up Mutiny by the Birthday Party
  2:23pm
ec:

Best screams? Play some Baby Huey & the Babysitters!
  2:24pm
dc pat:

the Cynics, Cry Me a River = Best scream EVER.
  2:24pm
Chris:

Subway Song by the Cure has that great surprise scream at the end.
  2:24pm
Cecile:

the Sonics, their songs are all best screams
  2:26pm
dc pat:

right on Cecile, Roselie is my favorite screamer by far.
  2:27pm
ec:

More specifically, Baby Huey's version of "A Change is Gonna Come." That's a good one.
  2:31pm
Glenn L:

Big Jesus Trash Can by the Birthday Party.

You can almost hear his vocal cords bleeding.
  2:31pm
Lukas:

Other good screams: Linda Sharrock on "Black Woman", more specifically "Portrait of Lina in Three Colors, All Black", and Patty Waters' version of "Black Is The Colour..."
  2:34pm
Cecile:

I think that Immigrant song should be excluded. It's wordless singing on the beat, and not that screamy.
  2:35pm
a guy in a chair in a cube, screaming.:

Blixa Bargeld on “Seele brennt”

Sounds like a teakettle on the boil
  2:35pm
Lukas:

Sainkho?
  2:36pm
Adam / Ladyfingers:

Great make-out music.
  2:36pm
Cecile:

yes, cube dude
also on Dustiges Tier
  2:36pm
Screaming Man:

I think the wailing in Deep Purple's "Child In Time" should get a mention.
  2:37pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Who let the witch into the porno?
  2:39pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Did I not hear any moaning from Aphrodite's Child 666 album, track '∞'?
  2:39pm
jeremy the listener:

a collection of screams... that woke me up from my mid-day duldrums. awesome
  2:39pm
Screaming Man:

Hey Scott, how about that screaming mom you featured a while back? Still have that clip?
  2:39pm
Cecile:

okay, it's a good logical breaking point here.

See ya in a while!
  2:47pm
Screaming Man:

OMFG thanks, Scott! She sounds a bit like Joan Cusack, doesn't she?
  2:47pm
anyone to everyone:

my lord this is pure evil
  2:47pm
GP:

Mom...ah the memories...where did you get our home recording from?

; )
  2:48pm
jeremy the listener:

omg... mom saying 'son of a bitch' really doesn't say much about her...
  2:49pm
Charles:

Scott, this one is the ULTIMATE SCREAMER

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBVmfIUR1DA

Can you stream the audio over the air?
  2:49pm
Screaming Man:

Pure marriage material, right here.
  2:51pm
GP:

not really....this sounds like an episode of "Cops"

I can't beliieve how calm he is..is this or real or some kind of preformance art?..She must be really fun when she is drinking.
  2:51pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Beware the audio recording device!
  2:56pm
jneil:

No James Brown? (or did I miss it)

There's some screams in the last minute of the long version of Cold Sweat (off Foundations Of Funk) that sound like a pig going through a woodchipper (and I mean that in the best possible way...)
  2:56pm
anyone to scott williams:

great show dude
  2:57pm
