Listener comments!

  9:01am cribley:

Good Kensday to all!
  9:01am Bad Ronald:

Good Morning!
  9:01am Ne-guh-tor:

KEN!
  9:01am Dan B:

W-W-Wednesday morning time slot! Good morning all!
  9:04am Ken:

Morning all! Got in super late today so I'm starting with the best 18 minute long song I know of.
9:04am Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Bathing beauties of the Klan?
  9:04am annie:

good morning everyone!!
  9:06am Alex Jones:

A scientific dictatorship is in its final stages of completion, and laws protecting basic human rights are being abolished worldwide; an iron curtain of high-tech tyranny is now descending over the planet. A worldwide regime controlled by an unelected corporate elite is implementing a planetary carbon tax system that will dominate all human activity and establish a system of neo-feudal slavery.
  9:06am Raj:

Hey, guys. Ooooo, can't wait to read what she's typing...
  9:07am Ken:

Watch it Alex.
  9:08am Ghengis Jung:

This is AMAZING!!!
  9:09am BSI:

For the love of god, etc!
  9:09am Dan B:

Did she say Mash-inations?
  9:13am cribley:

I hope this song is three hours long.
  9:14am still b/p:

The people of the Mashy Nations will not submit to neo-feudal slavery!
  9:14am Dan B:

I'm with you, Cribley. This song could go on for days and I wouldn't get sick of it.
  9:18am Sonar in DC:

Morning everyone! Me too, I love this song; neo-feudal slavery, not so much.
  9:18am trs:

Sounds like a nice rain, to me. At some point you go, enough already. Thunder or something.
  9:19am trapper:

oh is it over? i'm so glad. made me nauseous! wonder why.
  9:19am doug from DC:

That song had some remarkable vim.
  9:19am Alex Jones:

I am sorry Ken I am overcome by prescription medications atm for my back pain. Forget I told you about the global power elite. Just dont take the shots
  9:20am cribley:

Play it again backwards.
  9:20am John from Oslo:

9:21am Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Alex - what is your position on the Trilateral Commission?
  9:22am Cecile:

Good morning!
  9:22am Laurie:

Hello, Ken.
  9:22am annie:

good morning cecile!!
  9:23am The Trilateral Commission:

We're putting a tax on aluminum foil, so you won't be able to afford to make your protective headgear anymore.
  9:24am BSI:

  9:25am paul:

this is better than the original, of both songs.
  9:25am Alex Jones:

I have taken to drinking my own filtered urine. My father was a dentist you know.
  9:27am Bad Ronald:

I need to see "Clockwork Orange"...
  9:28am trapper:

Now my tummy is happy again.
  9:30am JCityJensen:

Morning CornWeenie Lovers!
  9:31am Cecile:

I missed the neofeudal slavery.
  9:33am BSI:

Nasal slavery? What?
Git the government outta my nose! Not cool!
  9:33am jan:

Anybody who picks up 91.1fm , please listen to the signal carefully now (Wed Oct 7 prior to 730pm), and then again after 730pm tonight (again, Wed Oct 7) until Friday morning Oct 9th at 9am. I am going to try something with our 91.1 signal beginnign tonight at 730pm and I need receptions reports! Send them to me at ken at wfmu dot org - this applies only ONLY to 91.1fm
  9:46am -max-:

LOVE is the LAW!

  9:47am Cecile:

I thought Barry was talking to his werewolf girlfriend.
  9:51am Janet H:

I want to have a Secret Live Stream Party!
  9:51am Wha?:

  9:58am trs:

specatular spectacular
  10:00am Mark:

You know Kiss has a new album out
  10:00am Frank:

Perfect gif image for "I was made for loving you"
  10:01am Ken:

Please tell me that SOMEONE on this page can listen to 91.1fm and get me a reception report!
  10:01am -max-:

I would take the "Secret Radio Listening Party" challenge, but will only be within the 91.1 listening area through Friday morning. Will be picking up the stream after that, and through the weekend. I can let you know if I notice anything during that period, if it helps the cause.
  10:02am Cecile:

So how do you say that band name, Hatrack?
  10:03am Ken:

Hate Rock
  10:03am Bryant:

Hey, Ken -- we listen on 91.1 but only in mono because of static issues. Will we still be able to participate in Secret Radio?
  10:04am Ken:

Max, that's fine, check the 91.1 signal today and again tomorrow and let me know if you hear a difference tomorrow. Friday it will all be back to normal. Bryant - Yes please!
  10:04am bbell:

Ken-

Not sure what you mean by reception report, but it is coming in clear in Uppr Saddle River. Actually, I have been working on my computer listening to the stream and with the stereo on in another room (there is a bit of a delay on the computer), and it has proved to be a pleasant sort of "round".
  10:05am Stuart:

Of course we can send listening reports, but we're all lurkers here and want to send them anonymously.
  10:05am trapper:

91.1 is coming in OK, not great, as usual, here in JC.
  10:05am Mark:

But can we really consider it to be Kiss without Ace and Peter?
  10:06am Cecile:

I like Hat Rack better. But that's me.
  10:06am Dan B:

Will those of us not in the 91.1 area find out the big secret radio secret once it's all over?
  10:06am melissa:

I'll send in a report!
  10:06am ~L:

It's FMU all day and all night here, so we'll let you know.
  10:08am Laurie:

It looks like Brando is tapping in time to this Chicken 'n' Waffles song, and goddamn it I want some Roscoe's right now. Though that cow picture is creeping me out. :(
  10:09am clueless in MI:

Ken, if you boost the 91.1 signal a little, Detroit will be glad to help you.....snarf
  10:10am Mark:

Ken knows his way around a teat
  10:11am JCityJensen:

that's teatrific!

sorry
  10:12am Laurie:

Is it pronounced with a j sound? I always pronounced gif with a hard g sound.
  10:12am trs:

no local (to NJ/NY) receivers showing up on globaltuners.com
  10:14am PMD:

Janet, I agree. I'll attend!
  10:14am Steely Damn:

I love inane commentary! More!
  10:14am Mark:

I can get 91.1 but for some reason the radio station is WSHU
  10:15am GP:

I'm here...adding to the inanity.
  10:16am GP:

Hey TRS...thanks for that link. I had no idea...so many stations so little time.
  10:16am Laurie:

I still can't believe "A Minha Menina" was used in a McDonald's commercial.
  10:16am Cecile:

my coments are always very nane.
  10:17am Mark:

I'll second that, the globaltuners.com link has already been added to ny favorites
  10:18am IB:

Inane gadda da vida, baby...
  10:18am Ken:

Mark. Let me lay it out for you. If you are getting another station at 91.1fm then that means that you are not getting WFMU.
  10:20am Carmichael:

Happy Hump Day Ken and non-Kens alike.
  10:20am Mark:

ah, I see, thanks Ken!
  10:22am Ken:

Yeah no problem Mark. That's why I get paid the big bucks.
  10:23am Mark:

Cool!
  10:23am Ken:

Damn. This would've been easier ten years ago when people still knew how radio worked and shit
  10:23am Janet H:

PMD, yea i'm all for it...live stream secret party!!
  10:24am Mark:

I hear ya
  10:25am trs:

people still understand 'presets'
  10:25am Dr Evul <eye twicth>:

Do not touch ze knobs, ve control ze fequencies, no?
  10:26am Jason:

Alex was testing out his new channel on 91.1 - whats your problem??
  10:27am -max-:

My old tuner (bought in 1986) drifted as it aged, and FMU was coming in at 91.0 during the end of its life. Finally replaced it last year.
  10:28am GP:

No, will not click..will not..
  10:30am Janet H:

oh...jimi hendrix
  10:30am Mark:

Has anyone heard the new Mission of Burma?
  10:34am N. Tesla:

Eat it Marconi, you too Edison. I for one, still understand how radio works Mr. Ken.
  10:34am Cecile:

  10:39am Satan:

Serves you right!
  10:39am Cecile:

yeah they had a free concert at MIT and the city council declared October 4, 2009 Mission of Burma day.
  10:39am Carmichael:

  10:51am jan:

  10:52am Mark:

  11:01am why didn't I think of this?:

Foxy Production presents The Masturbators, a multiple channel video installation by Sterling Ruby that provocatively complicates the genre of performance video. Using porn stars as performers, Ruby positions his viewers as the voyeurs of his actors’ intimate sexual actions in this charged examination of role of the artist and the construction of masculinity.

Male porn actors are asked to masturbate to climax, solo, in an empty room. Instructions are given by the artist, a still photograph is taken, and then, as the action begins, the actors are left alone, never being sure if anyone is watching from the other side. Without their usual performance context, each pursues the given task with varying results.

With pornography’s formulaic sets and scenarios removed, the actors are left somewhat adrift, giving each performance an experimental air. The work's combination of endurance and improvisation is reminiscent of early performance video, where an artist was often alone in the studio, performing acts of repetition and physical stamina and often addressing the relationship between artist, artwork and audience. Ruby reworks this genre, multiplying and refracting it through the use of professional porn stars who collapse the roles of actor, performer, and artist.

The work sustains a tension that goes beyond the experience of duration and repetition, beyond the humor, fear, anxiety, or lust of witnessing sexual performances: it is a tension inherent in male desire and the abiding fictions that seek to both define and sublimate it.

The Masturbators will be documented in a forthcoming publication in collaboration with PaceWildenstein, New York.
  11:02am Oscar:

  11:03am Ike:

  11:38am Ike:

Was that really Nardwuar on last night's Best Show? His voice was somewhat distressing to my kidneys and caused my old disused guitar's strings to warble and hum.
  11:38am GP:

Thanks Ken..I needed the title, now I can find it.
  11:39am doug from DC:
