Coded references to biblical passages are inscribed on gunsights widely used by the US and British military in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has emerged.

The markings include "2COR4:6" and "JN8:12", relating to verses in the books of II Corinthians and John.

Trijicon, the US-based manufacturer, was founded by a devout Christian, and says it runs to "Biblical standards".

  10:02am Michael:

And, just like the gas chambers and ovens in the death camps, those who rejected me went immediately from the hell of panic and burning jet fuel to somewhere far, far, far, worse, that never, ever, will end. Because I love you so much.

You could record the Silent night 2001 from YouTube. It sounds good.

I know a guy named David who lives in Bowie, Maryland ... he always did wear a fake Rolex watch, but has a terrible singing voice, does that count?

  10:15am Jay:

How bout something off of "Pass the dust, I think I'm Bowie," by Black Randy & the Metrosquad?
  10:18am ?:

jane's accent sucks
  10:21am bbell:

Hello Sweden! My husband is in Gothenburg, which just officially changed its name from the Swedish version Goteborg, so the foreigners would not have difficulty with the pronunciation (there is an umlaut over the first 'O', but I couldn't find the key!)
  10:23am David R. Jones:

I'm the real David Bowie. Every successive David Bowie, from psychedelic folkie to Marc Bolan imitator to Ziggy to the Thin White Duke etc., is the fake David Bowie. Madonna's career shows that she learned at least that much, obviously.
  10:34am DF:

Re: Jane's accent

I know, four words of French, you would think she could have learned to pronounce them. I always think of her as "Annie Eroteek"
  10:42am Jimm:

Ken, I want to recommend a larger home page image, or a link to a larger version. They're always great images, but too small for my corjections.
  10:42am Mark:

mais oui c'est soixante-neuf
  10:43am dc pat:

Wanda! Is Sparkle Moore still alive, I'd rather he interview her...
  10:46am Detroit Mac:

In mourning for the Democrats and along the theme of the NJ Medical Reefer bill, how about: "Seeds and Stems Blues " by Commander Cody?
  10:47am north guinea hills:

I wonder who will represent the Earthling era Bowie?
  10:47am moi:

  10:49am cosmic:

  10:50am paul:

  10:50am David R. Jones:

We know Major Tom's a NJ junky.
  10:50am Michelle:

Ooo...do you have "Space Oddity" as covered by The Langley Schools Music Project?
  10:51am Bad Ronald:

Hey Cosmic, long time, how've ya been?
  10:51am Kevin:

Never mind Major Tom, what about The Laughing Gnome?
  10:51am north guinea hills:

...or Labyrinth era Bowie?
  10:52am seang:

cecile, you're missing Flight of the Conchords!
  10:54am dc pat:

The Fake Bowie Song was amazing..

Yeah, HEY CECILE!!
  10:54am Ken:

For the record, the next track is a Bryan Ferry parody but I've run out of Bowie songs..
  10:54am cosmic:

hey bad ronald, goood, thanks! how bout you? been far too long! ..loving this bowie numbehr
  10:55am Bad Ronald:

  10:55am ted:

  10:56am Bad Ronald:

Faring well my friend. Nice to see you!

  10:57am postmanpaul:

ENOugh!
  10:57am cosmic:

you too old pal! "_" you too!
  10:58am David R. Jones:

Wouldn't it make a shorter, easier list to just mention who I didn't copy? I even copied disco. Hi, losers!
  10:59am cosmic:

(im glad these maths sums are easy today
  11:01am Carmichael:

Good morning Ken and non-Kens alike.
  11:01am (mta) Tony:

T. Roth and Another Pretty Face were often mistaken for Bowie, in case you were looking for additional artists with Bowie similarities... Good morning all!
  11:01am cosmic:

hey postmanpaul, i was in b-right-on in sept! for one day and one night, there was a festival on the seafront called white surf or something and the doves headlined, they were so boring. we went and found a punk pub
  11:04am ted:

For another Bowie copy, try Fill Your Heart by Biff Rose
  11:08am Carmichael:

Didn't Insect Trust have something to do with Staempfel/Weber and/or the Holy Modal Rounders/Fugs?
  11:09am seang:

i think they were from Memphis
  11:10am Carmichael:

Via Kevin Bacon, I mean.
  11:12am Baba:

Could you kindly mention what is your background music, for "DJ speaks" segments?
  11:13am ted:

Ken, I am sure you know but just for the record. Fill Your Heart was written by Biff Rose and Bowie covered it exactly.
  11:13am north guinea hills:

I think the Xenakis w/o Xenakis is genius!
  11:13am A listener:

The Insect Trust song was great. They actually did two albums - the other simply "The Insect Trust". Not sure about the Rounders connection, but they did feature Robert Palmer, the late great groundbreakingly eclectic NY Times music writer.
  11:14am dc pat:

YES the puking song!!
  11:14am dc pat:

or a remix there-of...
  11:15am bennett4senate:

Michelle Obama shaking hands with people LIVE RIGHT NOW http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/mrs-obama-surprises-white-house-tour-visitors
  11:15am Brian:

Say, when your playlist reloads, it jumps to the top rather than the bottom. You might try reversing the display order so the most recent rises to the top.
  11:16am Keilidh:

This track is so puketastically awesome! For real..

PAUL THE POSTMAN! I MISS YOU! Hows life??
  11:18am Chris:

I'm waitin' for that dog to bite someone.
  11:20am dc pat:

fender p bass in this Dave Cloud tune.
  11:20am Ken:

Brian, the name of the current track always is displayed - see where it says "Now Playing"? That background music before was Haruomi Hiosono's Nostalgia of Island.
  11:23am Ne-guh-tor:

HEY!
  11:24am dc pat:

aaaaahhhh, Buttholes...
  11:27am dc pat:

if you listen to the music in Flipper tunes (w/out vocals) it sounds a lot like old Ex. Never noticed that before.
  11:28am john:

wow you really have come to the flipper side.
  11:28am dc pat:

buttholes > flipper >5678's = Pat's Paradise
  11:29am Maria D:

Still suffering from cold sweats over hearing God speak to us from the ashes of 9/11.
  11:29am iiiiiiiike:

Nice pic of Cybermen (1960s British Borg) menacing Zoe up there (next to Shudder to Think). You can always rely on 1960s episodes of Doctor Who for some goofy, odd, ultra-low-budget, yet eerie images. British kids of the time were supposedly actually really, really scared by the Cybermen, which is hard to believe now.
  11:32am Chris:

...not as scary as creepy british kids who can read minds...children of the damned, right?
  11:32am postmanpaul:

hi cosmic, nice to see ya 'bout again. yeah, that was the White Air extreme water sports and music fest...I remember it differently cosmic. I was delivering mail at approx 11 am, meditating idly, as one does. when hell shit fuck the red arrows strafed at roof top level out of the fog, repeadly. the fun had begun. needless to say, undergarments were paid attention to asap.
  11:32am Carmichael:

I could dig hearing any song that was ever played on Shindig, Hullabaloo or Where the Action Is.
  11:33am Nick:

Wow! Green Door! I haven't heard that since ~1955. Wasn't as good a version as this, though.
  11:35am Keilidh:

P da P. P da P.
P da P. P da P.
I'm your biggest fan.
  11:36am Cecile:

Ah,hell.

Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antennae...
  11:36am ?:

K E I L I ! ! ! i'm well thanks, isn't kens show quite groovy today?!
hows art college, yer mam and all that jazz?
  11:38am Cecile:

I need to get that Matias Aguayo.
Just when I think Kompackt can't get any better.
  11:39am postmanpaul:

Keilidh, the pleasure's all mine, i'm sure.
  11:40am cosmic:

paulthepostman, hahaha classic! we only got down there at night. and caught last bit of one band and then the headline snoozefest. i flew up there the in the morning and drew at a shop from 9am til close and we all went out and drank rum!
  11:40am north guinea hills:

Agreed, Cecile.
  11:40am Keilidh:

Y A Y ! ! !
I'm presenting my portfolio on February 6th. Ma mama is goood and making and selling jewelry and I miss you and the airwaves!
  11:41am Keilidh:

And I agree with the grooviness.
  11:42am Cecile:

ngh, did you ever see that documentary called Maestro? It's about the origins of house/garage music, but it's pretty much just old bitter people talking about how life sucks since the Loft and the Paradise Garage closed. It's still pretty great, though. I'm about 3/4 way thru it.
  11:42am BSI:

mashy mashy!
  11:43am north guinea hills:

I'll look it up, Cecile!
  11:43am Cecile:

They're not real AC/DC fans. That should be Bon singing it. ;D
Actually, I like Brian much better now since I saw AC/DC live last year. I understand his role.
  11:44am Cecile:

there is some stunning dancing in it. And lots of footage of joyful, decadent people living it up. Always good.
  11:44am anna:

twin peaks!
  11:46am postmanpaul:

ken, love the pic of the ape stuck to the car window, or is that a dog?
  11:47am BSI:

I had an AC/DC epiphany as well.....
Bon Scott is Elmo. Elmo of Sesame Street fame. Seriously. Play any old track (For Those About To Rock, for instance) and think ELMO. It's awesome. Maybe others have made this connection already but man, it was PROFOUND.
  11:47am Ken:

Hahahah Paul, it's a DAWG!
  11:48am north guinea hills:

I thought I heard a hint of a Badalamenti samples.
  11:50am Cecile:

@BSI
Bon never sang For Those About to Rock.
He was dead at the time.
  11:53am BSI:

ah, ha! I have senile dementia!
I was thinking of Back in Black, probably. I'm not a super fan, but I appreciate the grit and ugliness of it all. ... now, where's my pills?
  11:54am BSI:

Speaking of senile dementia, wow, haven't heard this DOA track in a bucket o' years...
  11:57am Carmichael:

Sounds like Speedy Gonzalez, the fastest mouse in all Me-hi-co.
  11:59am bennett4senate:

yes! thanks for the Animaniacs Ken! seems Yacko may have missed a few micro-nations. keep in mind, that was like what, 1997 or so? things change
  11:59am trs:

Did he say Burma or Myanmar?
  12:00pm north guinea hills:

I believe Yacko did that in 1990(?). But, still no excuse for Sumatra, Borneo, or Guam...
  12:39pm Natalie:

Thank you for all of the great songs, Ken. But I have to disagree about Workshop, "You can be good at things." That is a very good Workshop song from their happiest period. Please, please play them more often. We haven't heard "Pillow Junction" in a long time.
