I'm open to a lot of types of music, but the sounds on a repetitive loop - just drives me nuts. I guess since I don't like techno maybe it's the same concept. If you can explain the joy of that too, my life would be complete.

	12:29pm dc pat: I think the slight variations in the noise (I suspect it's found sound by the way) is interesting to me. I would NOT pull this out at home and put it on while doing the dishes but this is definitely one of the reasons I listen to Scott. I like guitar feedback too. I can listen to a lot of that.
	12:31pm dc pat: in visual arts, they say the negative space defines the positive space. that noisy stuff to me is like the negative space. That's all I can say about it. Otherwise I don't know why it appeals to me.
	12:32pm Scott: Well, I sure wouldn't use the word "joy". But I like it - and it's much more than a loop, though repetition has its rewards; and I especially enjoy the subtle revelations that come when you stick with the harsh, gauzy, hidden, or long abstract stuff. Plus what dc pat said.

	12:38pm dc pat: that's what I'm getting at. Why do we like any music whether it's noisy or catchy? Doesn't need a beat either, The San people of the Kalahari desert make simple droning music without beats on their bows that sounds more like the piece Scott played than a Beatles tune.
	12:38pm Some Guy: The reason i like the noisy stuff, and specifically when Scott plays the noisy stuff, is the contrast with the other tunes. I guess this is kinda like the negative space argument. A Scott Williams set is more than the sum of its tracks.

	12:44pm PMD: I must say that I like Scott;'s more than I like techno. Maybe it requires attention? For me it's background noise that just irritates my ears because it's the same pitch(?) level so it turns into buzzing - like a bee in my ear. And those I just swat away. I really wanted opinions because it might be I need to train my ear - like supposedly learning how to drink scotch. (not with your ear, but I think you understand)

	12:52pm dc pat: I never walk around with any music playing in my ears--never have--cuz I like to hear the noise of stuff going on around me. I tried walking around with an iPod but I hated it. PMD: but see, that's just a matter of taste. You prefer different kinds of noisy stuff. Maybe softer timbres? There are some kinds of extremely repetitive forms of music from Africa that drive certain folks crazy.
	12:52pm Dead Corporate Eyes: pure noise is hard to digest--even the most stalwart noise-fan will admit that--we like the challenge. noise is always a million times better live and with others, though. I don't listen to noise at home, but I love going to art spaces/coffee shops/DIY venues and just overindulging in it.

It would be basically improvisational but the musicians would take cues from the conductor who would attempt to control the piece somehow. Cecile: TOTALLY on the bus. I hate cell phones. Really.
