Ya, baby.
  3:07pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

my Gramps used to tell me how they'd go out dancing when the Paul Whiteman Orchestra was in town...

edge of my seat..
  3:11pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Love this Paul Whiteman track, Irwin.
  3:13pm
Explanation Mark:

What a lovely Brox Set indeed.
  3:16pm
north guinea hills:

I'd be happy listening to more 78's, especially when others play them for me. It's a lot of effort to play 78's when they're a multi-set. It's worse then playing a symphony via 45's. that, and i seem to break a 78 every so often.
  3:21pm
north guinea hills:

wow, let me retype. " IT'S LIKE PLAYING a symphony via 45's".

needs me some more green tea....
  3:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

I've really taken to Marco Benevento since I heard him on this show.
  3:25pm
ginger tim:

Benevento will be playing for free at Celebrate Borooklyn in Prospect Park:

HI and Bye Irwin!!! The Sunset down on the beach beckons. Have a good one.
  3:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

Encroaching waters? Any other details, like from which direction, and what kind of water? Or is it a warning that John Waters is filming in Monmouth Co., and things might be getting weird.
  3:34pm
PMD:

Oh dear, I read that as rectal amusement.
  3:50pm
PMD:

Irwin, is it the climb?
Hope you're doing well.

I'm going back to this archive to scavenge for good band/album names that Irwin just sounded off. (For starters, you can't go wrong with "House of Dumbass")
  4:31pm
Irwin:

Here's the rest:
Blather Shack
Hipsters Hideaway
Noise Nook
Self-Indulgence Palace
Record Spa
Castle of Over-Rated Navel-Gazers
House of Dumbass
Non-Sequitur Factory
Woeful Hippie Corner
Island of Marginalized Souls
Arrested Adolescent Retreat
  4:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow! Thanks Irwin!
Btw, "Record Spa" or "Self-Indulgence Palace" would also work for very awesome vinyl album shops.
  4:34pm
Matt from Springfield:

Or I guess they would all work for vinyl shops as well, particular the kind where the staff are all being "ironic".
  4:35pm
Lizardner Dave:

Irwin's list sounds like what Andy would suggest as a list of titles for Ken's morning show.
  4:37pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

those ladies in the car get hotter everytime I come back to this page
  4:38pm
Lizardner Dave:

DCE, your monitor is on fire.
  4:39pm

Awesome playlist as always, Irwin. I'm just amazed that there's someone else out there whose tastes stretch from Lush to Deep Purple
  4:39pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

how about Paul Whiteman to Deep Purple?
  4:41pm
Happy Listener:

That's nice, too, I suppose. I've also heard a lot of Martin Hannett stuff here, too. Love it.
  4:43pm

Friends, in the sense that Jody and Amanda lured neighborhood kids to their house with the promise of starring in home movies (the only house on the block with a video camera; see the Amanda Chronicles).
  4:50pm
Julie:

You gotta play this when I have company? She must think I'm insane listening to this :P
  4:50pm
Happy Listener:

My best friend's little sister had a great "misheard lyric" for this song: "I'll get my mom [to] sit on you." She'd sing it whenever it was on the radio.
  4:50pm
ginger tim:

  5:36pm
Happy Listener:

I hope Amanda chooses to return to goofing around on the mic. She seemed pretty cool in the interview. I think she should take on Vashti Bunyan covers next. : )
  5:37pm
Todd in Whitehorse:

Is there anywhere to get more info on Amanda? Is that her name "Amanda Wild"?
  5:39pm
listener:

There were two Irwin shows last year containing considerable interviews with Amanda. They are in his archives. Maybe someone can bother looking up the exact links.
  5:39pm
Amanda Wild Fan:

I don't know. I just listened to the interviews Irwin did with her and her brother a few weeks ago. Still can't believe the recordings are 20 somthing years old!
