  3:17pm
another old man:

crappy yes but sorta Scratch friendly, no?
  3:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

The tropics will come to me? That seems nice on a rainy day like this, but suppose it was already hot and sunny? That would hardly be an improvement...
  3:20pm
AnAnonymousParty:

API: Pillsbury pitchman 'Poppin' suffered 2nd degree burns yesterday over 90% of his body after falling asleep in a hot oven. "I was so baked," he said to rescuers on the scene. His is currently listed in 'tasty' condition.
  3:21pm
seang:

yeah, I think they are sorta Scratch friendly-should be good-don't what to expect
  3:22pm

  3:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

  3:25pm
don:

i am jobs put on a carpel tunneled amanda cassette
  3:26pm
Michael Kushmans:

Oh no not Amanda again!!!! Tommy says this gives him a headache.
  3:27pm
blacktooth:

Where's that hip new Amanda/Mark Turns mash-up?
  3:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

A fashion "from limbo" would mean something that manages to hang on in trends, despite not having had any originality for a long time.

Go Amanda!! Keep screwing around with the tape speed!
  3:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

Kick a duck while trying to eat a sandwich!!!
(thanks to Brian T.)
  3:29pm
Michael Kushmans:

Is the insanity over yet???
  3:30pm
kevin from BayRidge:

I'll keep my overpaid ( as per Larry Kudlow) Fed job & let everyone else grovel for The Great Black Mock turtleneck. but thanks for the info irwin... and I guess we pay for the advice with Amanda!
  3:36pm
Steve Wozniak:

Actually no, I don't begrudge Jobs. He has his thing now, I have mine, and I'm happy with it. (It also helps that Jobs uses "God" as his password for everything.)
  3:37pm
Acme Explosives Company:

Nice!
  3:39pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Isn't this the background music to every reality show on TV now/
  3:43pm
Matt from Springfield:

Julian Lynch -- always so very nice.
  3:45pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

yeah, I really like everything I've heard from J Lynch. This SMB remix, however, is sickening.
  3:47pm
steve:

sickeningly awesum
  3:48pm
Ike:

Agreed DCE -- for once I don't like a Go Home Prod. mash-up -- poisoning the Passions w/Steve Miller is criminal.
  3:50pm
Club Girl:

Steve Miller is AWESOME!! I was like "who the hell is that" but I love dancing to that last one!
  3:50pm
Club Girl:

Oh my God I LOVE this one! "I'm a joker, I'm a smoker" -- <spills drink>
  3:52pm
north guinea hills:

I enjoy anything steve miller related! although the original one rocks more. yeah, that's right, i used the verb, "rocks".

Stalling was a genius!
  3:56pm
Robert:

I liked the mash-up. When people strongly dislike one, do they think it insults the originals?
  4:00pm
teknoel:

Or, conversely, that it doesn't insult them enough
  4:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

Cool Crowded House song -- never heard of this one before.
  4:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

And Beth Orton now! My afternoon just got a lot better!
  4:03pm
nestor:

ooh. sweet transition.
  4:13pm
Michael Kushmans:

Tommy get that out of my mouth!
  4:14pm
?:

Irwin !
I´d like my pledge back if you gonna treat my eras like this !
  4:16pm
Crutchtar:

I like it when my eras are treated harshly.
  4:19pm
Julie:

I haven't hear Sheila is so long! Thanks Irwin
  4:22pm
Michael Kushmans:

Tommy i cant talk with that in my mouth!!!
  4:29pm
Engaged-Ear Distracted Salaryman:

Yeah, yeah Irwin, Amanda, always great---Fountains of Wayne rocks, hang on a sec, Blossom Dearie, always a treasure, you know I haven't heard Julian Lynch on your show for a while, you mind giving it a spin? What, who's on line 2?
  4:30pm
trs:

The fine how do you do? Hi
  4:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

And STER-E-O-PHREN-IC sound!
@don: here's your hepster groove!
  4:39pm
Mike East:

speaking of stereophonic sound - anybody have any recommendations for headphones? Looking for portability and decent sound
  4:40pm
Tommy Gunns:

Songs about more fruit for your mouth Michael Kushmans! YEAH!!!!!
  4:41pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh GOD no!
  4:41pm
Michael Kushmans:

I love apples and oranges but you know what I love most in my mouth Tommy!! *Wink *Wink
  4:41pm
don:

  4:43pm
guz:

  4:43pm
don:

  4:43pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

amanda, where's the falsetto?
  4:44pm
Carmichael:

I love you, Amanda.
  4:44pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh...
  4:45pm
guz:

hahaha, the other stuff is awesome keep up the good work.
  4:45pm
John McCabe in LA:

why do I put myself through this?
  4:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

NOOO! I just missed Amanda -- and don't tell me that was a Beatles cover! Well, that's why the Archives are so great!

I already know what I missed with Richard Dawson, who seems to have traumatized the listeners.
  4:51pm
Carmichael:

William Shatner's version of Proud Mary traumatizes me every time.
  4:52pm
don:

i'm looking that up right now! can't wait carmichael!
  4:53pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Mike: I don't have the model number, but Sony MDR series earbuds are what I've used at work to listen in for over a year now. It gives a clear, direct sound, really portable, and you can adjust output volume with a dial on the cord. Or were you thinking of BIG headphones?
  4:55pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Carmichael! I haven't heard "Proud Mary" but I can only imagine that experience!

If ol' Bill Shatner hasn't done a "re-imagining" of "Crimson and Clover" yet, I say it's about time.
  4:56pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh wait, that was RICHARD DAWSON--Family Feud, Newkirk, Running Man guy...wow...
  4:56pm
don:

that shatner track seems a bit burried. further investigation to resume soon..
  4:57pm
Mike East:

I was looking for on ear or over ear. I'm not a fan of sticking things in my ears. I was looking at AKG or Sennheiser, but I really don't know
  5:00pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Mike: they have those $300 noise cancelling headphones if you want the cream of the crop. But if you're not looking for that, does anyone know the best sound for the best value?
  5:01pm
Bad Ronald:

Someone put this on Ken's list today:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU2ftCitvyQ

@Mike - Not very portable but I like the Sony-MDR-7506 model
  5:03pm
Dominick:

Mike, I've always liked AKG K240 & K141. Un-hyped, accurate sound. Not the most compact things, though
  5:03pm
?:

I like my ugly-ass, language lab-looking Koss PortaPro's. They sound great, though, for 30 bucks.
  5:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

No kidding!! So Stu Spasm is the Lubricated Goat guy! One of the first great bands I learned from Brian Turner. I also noticed it in Andy Breckman's April Fools playlist in 2009, where he taunted that WFMU listeners won't get their Lubricated Goat there!
  5:05pm
trs:

My question is what to do with crappy broken or just terrible speakers, headphones, etc.?
Toss it in with the other tech garbage?
  5:06pm
Mike East:

I was looking at the AKG K450's which seem to be compact. Those portapro's were definitely on my list too. Thanks for all the tips. My hope is to make a decision by the end of the week.
  5:14pm
Seattle:

Haven't heard this Jeff Beck in an appalling number of years.
  5:15pm
David:

That Beatles cover by Amanda was unfuckingreal!!!
  5:15pm
Irwin:

@Seattle: this is where Eddie Van Halen went to school.
  5:16pm
Seattle:

Coming up: Irwin calls it...."guitar wanking." I betcha nickel.
  5:16pm
David:

Eddie Van Halen should assist Amanda in a cover of Beat It.
  5:17pm
Irwin:

@Seattle: I'll cover your action & raise you a buck
  5:19pm
Seattle:

[-- Checking pockets... --]
  5:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

With MJ gone, Quincy Jones should also produce a Bad tribute album, "Mad" with Amanda.
  5:29pm
Michael Kushmans:

This music is stinky
  5:29pm
Noh Mercy:

Need no African-Hebraic Guilt!
Need no African-Hebraic Guilt!
Need no African-Hebraic Guilt!
  5:30pm
Noh Mercy:

It's about the way you EVOLVE--
not the arrangement of your face.
  5:36pm
trs:

Evolve my ass.
Develop? Change? Progress?
Evolution requires generations. Lots of 'em.
blah blah blahblah
  5:37pm
Kushmans for the Pushkins:

Long live stinky music!
  5:38pm
nestor:

tres bien
  5:39pm
Carmichael:

I love you, Francoise.
  5:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

Is this from back in the 70s? It's quite a prog/studio-oriented rock side to R. Stevie.
  5:48pm
Carmichael:

Ol' Jake has a Jethro Tull vibe. Waiting for the Aqualung guitar ....
  5:51pm
don:

BANG!
  5:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

Is this Jake Holmes really from '67? It couldn't be, that would mean <gasp> that Led Zeppelin RIPPED OFF a song! They aren't the kind to plagiarize without giving proper credit.
  5:53pm
Willie Dixon:

Yeah man, that's what I done heard.
  5:56pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Nigerians here can really jam out -- I'm now a Kenimaniac!

@Willie Dixon: it sucks being cheated out of all your royalties, but music nerds know you're the genius behind it all, and isn't that what really matters?
  5:56pm
David:

LMAO! I had braces. They didn't pick up radio though.
  5:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

It's worth pointing out that this and many other fine videos of Amanda, Jody, Brandi, Martin etc. are available on YT -- user Jerserf is Joseph, and he has a great video as well as audio trove of Amanda!

Till next Wednesday, everyone!
  4:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hello, anyone who comes across this in the Archives! I just checked out Amanda's version of "She's Leaving Home" -- I definitely recommend everyone give it a listen!

I'm imagining great and joyous things, like "Amanda Sings Sgt. Pepper's", and maybe even Ziggy Stardust. To sleep, to dream...
  5:46pm
Sharon Van Etten:

That Sheila Chandra song blew my mind! Thank you!
  10:44pm
Rick:

Jessica's play was good and sweet and challenging. I hope it comes to radio soon.
  7:52pm
PMD:

Someday I'll get to hear you live again. At least there's archives.
  7:53pm
PMD:

Or rather, there are archives.
