Listener comments!

  9:01am Cheri Pi:

Heaven help us, he's starting with Flipper.
  9:02am AnAnonymousParty:

I don't understand.
  9:02am postmanpaul:

Mad hatters Tea Party time!
  9:04am Wendy del Formaggio:

Me, I'd like to Take Back Tea Parties! I'm always embarrassed to ask someone over for tea, lest they think I want to stomp on their head, or make them hold up a sign rife with misspelled words.
  9:09am Wendy del Formaggio:

GET A BRAIN MORANS!
9:09am where can I download this?:

can somebody tell me where can I download this one. loved it.
  9:10am The Man:

My stocks just went through the roof. Heh heh heh.
  9:11am Steve L:

To start with Flipper is to signal the end. Saints preserve us.
  9:12am G Washedton:

What's wrong with a nice clean brain?
  9:13am nice music:

Enjoying a lot.
  9:13am Dan B From Upstate:

Morning Ken and all.
  9:13am Steve L:

Praise the lizard brain! Praise it damn you!
  9:14am postmanpaul:

America is so so mid-term this morn...Bring on the Mad Hatters and lets all sit back and enjoy watching some wholesome Mary Tyler Moore with a cuppa and a mandrax or two.
  9:15am Cheri Pi:

Where's your Flying Spaghetti monster now?
  9:16am Cecile:

I have my issues with Minnesota, but I must say I am proud of my state today. Apart from Bachmann. That's not so hot.

Mary Tyler Moore wasn't really wholesome if you read between the lines.
  9:19am postmanpaul:

WHAT ARE YOU TELLING ME, Cecile?!
  9:19am Dale from North Dakota:

Shatner and Joe! Boy, do I ever love this song. Got my daughter jacked up on it too, and she converted a few other teenagers :-)
  9:20am Aaron:

there are good people in the world (just not in the House of Rep) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xVNFEvC5ns&feature=player_embedded
  9:20am Skirkie:

This really is a good album, this Shatner one.
  9:21am Dale from North Dakota:

Bachmann is a loon. I'll never understand what's wrong with the northern suburbs that keep reelecting her...
  9:21am Ken:

Hello all! It's a William Shatner Morning in America!
  9:21am Cecile:

There was loads of drinking, plenty of implied sex, lonlieness, the tug of war between career and love. And that was just Mary!
  9:22am Lizardner Dave:

So this angry show will be followed this afternoon by Irwin's victory parade, I imagine.
  9:23am Dan B From Upstate:

That whole Shatner album is pretty damn good. It was a day one buy for me. Glad I didn't regret it.
  9:23am tim from champaign:

Don't blame me. I voted for Roosevelt....Teddy Roosevelt that is.
  9:23am Parq:

http://www.the-isb.com/?p=308
  9:23am Cecile:

The northern suburbs are just weird. People who have never lived in a city living in the suburbs to escape the city problems. Which they know nothing about.
  9:24am still b/p:

College friends gave very special notice to the one episode that they believed was unambiguous about Mary's intention to...do it.
  9:25am Dale from North Dakota:

Hey, it's Bachmann's theme song! lol

I grew up in the southern suburbs (Bloomington) and my wife the western (Medina) and we're both reasonably normal. Must be something in the water in Anoka
  9:25am BSI:

More socialist whatnot!
  9:26am Label:

Sulkfest!!!!!
  9:26am great one:

lovedit.c
  9:26am Cecile:

Anoka County is a special snowflake.
  9:27am Cecile:

Ken, can you play some of Was/Not Was's dancing in the rubble funk?
  9:27am Louisville Dan:

Flipper is helping me cope this morning in Stupidville, Kentucky.
  9:27am Garrison:

In Anoka. all the voters are above average.
  9:28am Aaron:

the rent is gonna get higher
  9:28am Unclear on the concept:

Yeah, Dark Side! I saw the Pink Floyd movie 874 times.
  9:29am Cecile:

Louiville Dan, I have no words. Unbelievable.
  9:29am still b/p:

Suitable song, both in title and in its soundtrack association with a terrific capsize.
  9:29am adrian from mpls:

what about a morning after pill?
  9:30am Lizardner Dave:

So wait, I lost track - which group of people that don't realize that their lives will be exactly the same regardless of who is in power is leaving the country this time?
  9:32am Dan B From Upstate:

Lizardner Dave gets it. It just plain old doesn't matter.
  9:32am dc pat:

I don't know about you guys but I'm changing my party affiliation to the Tea Party today. How do I do that??
  9:33am Cecile:

Register as a Republican. ;)
  9:34am bennett4senate:

ken's show: theme music for my unspecified feelings of dread and anger
  9:34am adrian from mpls:

i'm with lizardner dave!
  9:34am annie:

so, i think the height of sarcasm or irony or what ev would be to give us the obama theme thong
  9:34am randy in NC:

All the tea people say they want less in Washington. If that's what they want then that means that we are probably in for a lot of do-nothing. Like the do-nothing Richard Burr from NC who got re-elected with 55% of the vote by essentially doing nothing for the last 6 years.
  9:34am jaw:

When a show starts out this great it makes me almost want to forget my resentment about the Jones, X Ray suspension
  9:36am Nancy Pelosi:

I'm a congresswoman, I'm talented, and darn it people like me!

{sniff}
  9:36am BSI:

Everybody's right. It'll be the same ol' gridlock, just with an oily patina of arrogance that wasn't there before.
  9:36am dc pat:

Thank you for elucidating my point Cecile..
  9:37am BW:

"I'm You!" a loser...
  9:37am Nancy Pelosi:

Yes, Harry, Obama, and I could be accused of many things, but arrogance is *not* one of them.

{sniff}
  9:37am Ken:

It DOES matter. In ther epic battle between EVIL and PATHETIC, you MUST take a stand.
  9:38am Lizardner Dave:

More arrogance, less patronzing. Whatever.
Don't blame me, I voted for Jimmy McMillan. (Really, I did!)
  9:38am Cecile:

@jaw, what happened?
  9:39am Dale from North Dakota:

Yeah, just wait until these nitwits elect Sarah Palin. Good thing I live near Canada, I can hide in someone's trunk going back to Manitoba when they declare war on anyone with an IQ over 80, lol
  9:40am Dan B From Upstate:

As did I Dave. This is the most apathetic I've ever been with the process.
  9:40am Aaron:

Can you play Its My Party and I'll cry if I want to? For old times sake
  9:40am Chicken Little:

THE SKY IS....!!!!!

Well, you know.
  9:41am annie:

well, if congress tries to revive the flailing food "safety" act, then the republicans had always been agin' it, so we do win there..
  9:41am OM:

Same ol' gridlock? That gridlock can be attributed to a minority party. What happens now that they're in the majority?

And yeah, play It's My Party.
  9:43am Aaron:

How about just some old HA HA HA
  9:45am Dan B From Upstate:

Never used marijuana in my life and even I am said at the failure of Prop 19.
  9:48am postmanpaul:

Crazy Alex Harveys Tea Party played sdrawkcab please Ken.
  9:48am Ron Johnson:

It pays to outspend your opponent by 3 to 1, kids. God bless the USA, the Supreme Court, and rednecks.
  9:48am dc pat:

I really love how all the conservative friends I use to have ALL smoked weed.
  9:48am Skirkie:

I love dystopian masterpieces.
  9:50am still b/p:

We could remake the Marx Brothers flick as "Fucked Soup," and sing "Hail, Hail Dystopia!"
9:53am ALF of Hip Hop Slam:

Nobody to date hasn't answered my question on why Americans keep switching back and forth between Dems and Reps thinking that things will be better? I bet a good percentage of Americans don't even research the people they vote for. I rese...arched every candidate on the ballot this term and some of them I didn't vote for because of the simple matter that their website lacked information about their beliefs on certain "issues." I mean some of the websites looked REAL nasty. Someone please answer this question? What does "We're taking our country back!" mean? I guess I'm the enemy now.
  9:54am Christine O'Donnell:

Hey, what sort of music is this to play after my victory last night?
  9:55am lucifer:

dommage pour le monde
  9:55am dc pat:

because amerkins have no memory.
  9:57am Skirkie:

Really, we all want someone who isn't really either party exclusively. But that person is never loud enough and never has a big enough stick.
  10:00am Wendy del Formaggio:

Fromage pour le monde!
  10:01am jan:

loved A Glorious Dawn
  10:02am dc pat:

ah Wendy, I'm going to be eating a LOT of cheese today..

the keep calling these idiots "tea party candidates" on NPR!
  10:02am lucifer:

roquefort ou camembert
  10:04am Wendy del Formaggio:

DC Pat: Stop listening to NPR today, or you won't be able to stomach cheese or anything else for that matter. And see my earlier comment on tea parties...

Lucifer: Both, but for best results, have the camembert first.
  10:06am BSI:

"For the greater good of this nation, we need to elect dead people."
http://www.theothercritic.com/undead-democracy/
  10:06am adrian from mpls:

how about some plant talking?
  10:07am Aaron:

Alf - have you seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAyHIOg5aHk
  10:08am Wendy del Formaggio:

Ken, I would say that poop gif I sent you is apropos today.
  10:09am postmanpaul:

How about some Dead Kennedys.
  10:12am Cecile:

Dude, Mel Farr, Superstar is singing on those vocal parts from What's Going On
10:13am ALF of Hip Hop Slam:

Aaron, I can't look at youtube at the moment. I'll check it out later.
  10:13am Skirkie:

Everything one needs to know about American politics can be found in "Ballot Box Bunny"

http://mesto.com.mk/video/79d1ab1d5f8a5d7/
  10:16am adrian from mpls:

mel farr, superstar?! so many car commercials, so many capes. i think that reference just made my day. Thanks!
  10:16am Doug:

Why aren't they called "confedericans" instead of republicans?
  10:16am Tiphany:

Three of my friends got bedbugs from Lady Gaga costumes this year. Pretty scary.
  10:17am annie:

npr has no real news, just commentary... they sold out long ago.no longer a bastion of the left.
  10:18am Aaron:

coporate robots = republicans + nazis + walmart = teaparty
  10:23am maddy:

please, Ken, tell me where I can find that American Family Association psa!
  10:23am Michelle in Green Bay:

I tried, but I could not single-handedly save Russ Feingold. *sigh*
  10:23am seang:

Did you ever see a politician dance?
  10:24am Ken:

Maddy - I put it on the blog many years ago - go to blog,wfmu.org and use the search box for grandpa
  10:27am Vicki:

morning Ken :)
  10:29am Foreign Listener K:

When is this Yukon Orange piece from? - very hard to place, but mid-80s is still the best guess - and unsatisfying, somehow.
  10:31am Ken:

Hi Vicki! K, Yukon Orange is a current Berlin band, fronted by listener Chrizzi.
  10:34am BSI:

That Fieselschweif track leaves me with a serious hankerin' for Kipper Kids...
  10:36am Parq:

I stopped listenting to NPR during the 2008 campaign, when I got tired of listenting to Dems grilled while GOPs got softballs. And for Alf, , a little before 10:00 EDT, you are asking us to explain the inexplicable. This is as close to an answer as I can give you.

http://tinyurl.com/sezitawl
  10:40am Sonic Teutonic:

"I am a coffee pot! I am a coffee pot!" What does that have to do with rock'n roll indeed...
  10:42am marq:

anyone hear about the shipment of marijuana from Mexico that contains bed bugs? these are actually mexican jumping bed bugs. Not the same kind we have, but still.
  10:43am Foreign Listener K:

Thanks - I had wondered, because some elements were just too modern.

Very enjoyable. Thank you listener Chrizzi.
  10:46am The Mob:

Thanks, California, for letting us keep our business for ourselves.
  10:47am Lizardner Dave:

Wow marq, I had better get on Twitter and Facebook and Blogger and Wordpress and spread the word. As should everyone else on this chat right now.
  10:49am genericPlacebo:

anybody still got those CARBOMB stickers that came with that Negativeland gem?
  10:49am Mark:

wow of all the shit Bush did and all the criticism he got, it was Kayne West who hurt Bush's widdle feelings the most:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20101103/pl_yblog_upshot/bush-calls-kanye-wests-criticism-over-hurricane-katrina-the-lowest-moment-of-his-presidency
  10:52am Lizardner Dave:

"We love our country but we can't trust our government anymore". Until that guy went on to criticize Bush I had no idea if he was a liberal or a tea-partier. You can't tell the players without a scorecard. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
  10:54am dc pat:

DAMMIT! Missed Christianity is Stupid...play it again?
  10:54am popo:

there is sure to be a spike in dog related tea-bagging accidents this year
  10:57am dc pat:

my friends were in a group called MK-Ultra. They were massive...
  10:58am annie:

thank you ken, for this... i love you.
  11:04am annie:

i never really appreciated rap or hiphop till my son started listening to it. i think there are those who hate it because the images of big black men being angry is very intimidating.. there a few whities who can be as angry and be convincing. remo conscious is good. each rapper speaks to his/her own feelings.. hiphop/rap is such a strange creature. some of it really repulses me and some of it i love to hear..(such is my limited opinion)
  11:09am john:

ha, this ECC track was ridiculously popular on my college station for a little while. I think this is the first I've heard it since.
  11:12am paul:

did anyone else read on the fmu blog a year or so ago about how bingo gazingo was hit by a taxi outside of the bowery poetry club? extremely sad news
  11:13am revaaron:

Bingo Gazingo samples on ""You're Out of the Computer" by My Robot Friend from Hot Action!"?
  11:15am revaaron:

I just googled and that is in fact bingo gazingo
http://www.almostcool.org/mr/859/
I remember him passing out BG tapes at CMJ 1998.
  11:24am Bruce:

Great stuff, Japanese folk, ever hear 'Garage Chanson Show' fantastic Japanese weird cabaret.
  11:25am hamburger:

can not imagine andy breckman kareoking to this
  11:25am Bill W:

Ken, this morning atones for your declaration that "The Republican Beast is dead" two years ago. Go in peace.
  11:28am Luke:

Hey Ken. I like your gifs.
  11:31am Ken:

Anybody know the real story behind this album Silverapples? Where is Gaylord Fields when you need him?
  11:31am Denise in DC:

I am a longtime Government Drone, and I am sorry to report that who's in charge really does make a difference.
  11:33am postmanpaul:

Enjoying your demeanour today Ken. Great show, great gifs, life just gets betterer 'n betterer.
  11:37am Don Rickles:

Andy's a hockey puck.
  11:37am Hamster 58:

The Silverapples album is by Klaatu, of course.
  11:40am Ken:

Am I gonna have to email Gaylord Fields about this matter?! Sheesh....
  11:44am Hamster 58:

Ken, did you check out

http://www.myspace.com/jimapplejuice
  11:45am Ken:

Oh stop it, Hamsterboy, you are wagging me.
  11:49am Dan B From Upstate:

This sounds like something Trent would love to play on his show. A) He loves mash-ups. B) His favorite band is The Mac Attack. Not too sure how he feel about Talking Heads, though.
  11:49am trss:

huh huh huh haha
  11:50am Kat:

all mashups should be this good
  11:52am Luke:

that Rocket Freudental track was amazing.
  11:53am rob c:

Ken - you're stopping me from going out into the grim rain in Bristol UK - Thanks!
  11:54am bartolo:

you're the best! Mp3 resurrect the radio!
  11:54am Hamster 58:

Ken, Does "Bird No Prisoner" here match your MP3?

http://www.last.fm/music/Jim+and+the+Applejuice/+tracks
  11:54am hamburger:

yay love this song :D
  11:55am Denise in DC:

Damn. I love this version of "Dancin' With Myself."
  11:55am -max-:

Humppa! My day is complete. Thank you, Ken!
  11:56am Lizardner Dave:

I love elakelaiset
  11:56am Ken:

Hamsterboy, you're a disgrace to my legion of Winged Monkeys..
  11:56am Steve L:

Humpan towards tomorrow!
  11:58am Skirkie:

That drawing weirds me out just a little.
  11:59am Dan B From Upstate:

Great ending to this cover... It... um... fits.
  11:59am douglas:
