Peter:

"Tallahassee Lassie" - great tune. The Del Lords used to do it as an encore (which is how I learned it).

Happy Record Store Day, everyone!

David:

THAT is a demo!

How about 6 hours of bonus features for a 90 minute movie?
  11:45am
mrmucho:

this Kiss song sounds like Wilco

drr:

I was thinking Teenage Fanclub!

glenn:

deke dickerson has a great website, especially the sections on one armed musicians, and album covers that are so bad they're good.

Country Gentleman! One of the best -- gets me every time. Dale Watson does a fine version of this in live shows.

randy in NC:

re. RSD, Schoolkids in Raleigh has Dex Romweber Duo now and the Raveonettes at 4.
  12:15pm
Peter:

Michael,
You should follow this up with that Michigan high school vocal band's "Fox On The Run"
  12:21pm
Bob:

Michael,
Ask Roy about his recent return show in Detroit. He blew the roof off the rockstar filled joint. Even the band seemed shocked by the response. It was pretty memorable.
  12:25pm
Parq:

So I'm sitting here reading the comics on line and by a remarkable coincidence, just as you were finishing your story about the dance contest, this popped up.

Bad Ronald:

Sweet Randy Newman tune. I still prefer Ringo's version with Marc Bolan on guitar!
  12:41pm
Tedco:

Is it true that the Groovies had a female singer for a while in the 80s named Autumn? Was she just a backup singer or did she sing lead as well?
  12:55pm
Bob:

Nice interview Michael. Thanks for asking my question. It really was something, the ultra-jaded Detroit scenesters don't crack that easily very often. Those guys are crazy if they don't put a real groovies band back on the road. There is a definite demand for the Flamin Groovies out there.
