Hello again, Thunkers.

Two hours of Thunk Tank! Yay!

Oh, and... Second comment! Woo hoo!
  6:06pm

Really!? Two hours?? Let me second that 'woo!'

Matt from Springfield:

Actually I was expected you two, that's how I first heard y'all last summer. And I haven't listened live for a long time because I'm normally commuting home and/or running around.
  6:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

Jay: You lasted at least two hours at the Hoof 'N Mouth, but it's true that was MCing and not continuous talking.
  6:14pm

Someone should flagellate Glenn Beck.

Often.

Taft would be a harder one, if posthumous Mormon baptism requires water; at 300 pounds he once got stuck in the White House bathtub.

The only organ I would donate would be my balls or rather my sperm.

Of course a judge would have to rule on it, you can't just create children on a whim without some custody arrangement, who's going to raise them.

Matt from Springfield:

I have a Northern Mariana Islands quarter--a beach scene and a [sailboat, i think], palm trees and seagulls. That's a territory in free-association with the US.

Btw is there a web link to this 9/11 Medal?

Rats! I came in late. Forgot it was the special extended Thunk Tank.

Funemployment. Though funderemployment remains a problem.

Can I exchange some Bitcoins at your band?
  6:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

That's what I was thinking--anyone can make a coupon system, but for it to be currency something needs to be convertible (such as US dollars to Torches, which can be held in reserve or traded for other currencies/goods).

i once got a canon copier twenty back as change from a cabbie. hate to admit i kept it in circulation by paying for my lunch at a chinese restaurant. does that make me some kind of arttist cuz i made a statement or does that make me a thief?
  6:59pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

Forgive me for taking you seriously on this topic! I recently decided to convert my meager $US to the Canadian ones. Because they have responsible banks there and would let me live there if I have to give up working here.
As of now, the Canadian $ is worth 1.0388 US$.
When you work as hard as I must to save something, it is hard to trust Wells Fargo in 2011.

@dPcd:

Pity, our conservative wanna-be government would dearly love to deregulate the Canadian banks. Let's go free market failure!
  7:16pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

@@me-
Do you know if the very popular TD Bank and others are compromised in exchange for their being allowed to operate here? I want to think they are a good competitor for my very sloppy former big bank.
  7:22pm
@@@me - @dPcd:

It's rather interesting how the Canadian banks were able to scoop some of the US market. I was told that's primarily because the 'big 5' Canadian banks are national banks rather than regional. A lot of the take-over activity happened during the last savings and loan fiasco.
I don't know if they operate differently within the US versus how they do in Canada.
  7:24pm
@@@me - @dPcd:

I'd be able to go to a TD on the West Coast, the same as I could in Newfoundland. I don't know if I'd be able to walk into a US branch and get at my money. I should ask at the branch downstairs...
  7:31pm
Fred:

Yeah, what's going on? Are the Brits coming back?
  7:33pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

@@ etc.
Well okay. The banks in Canada let me have separate US and Canadian $ accounts. I can access either up there but only my US money down here. It is very strange.
If only I could have a credit union account in Canada...
my friend there is making 5.25% on a money market in one local CU. They had no housing crisis and are writing loans like usual all the time, but this is not open to "yanks" -that is what they call us including me due to my being a citizen of the US.
  7:34pm
Loyalist:

Can I come, too?
  7:39pm
fred:

it's pronounced Sade
  7:40pm
@@@me - @dPcd:

I suspect that's what the answer would be. I might need to have a TD US$ account in order to access money at a branch; however I did see that if you're a client in the US, you can use the ATMs down there and up here in Canada for no charge. So, they're tied together somehow, but not seamlessly.
Aren't we Canucks called 'cheeseheads' down there? At least that's what I was told because we always jump across the border to buy dairy products.

@ the @ again-
My son just started a college student account at TD because they gave him $25 to do it. I hope for the best, since it was me who told him to stay away from the beebs and other Berkshire currencies.
I will try to show respect for relevant postings in future. Please understand that there would be no electricity in the WFMU studio tonight (or the Bershires or the Poconos or the places Mr Andy and Ken go vacation) if not for Hydro Quebec. The gas situation would be much more bad for my cab business if not for the Alberta oil sands. I have heard the biggest energy supplier to the US is Canada, so please be our friend!
