Listener comments!

  3:01pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

are you in?
  3:03pm
don:

holy scoot in a bowl
  3:05pm
Scott W:

I'm in! You in?? Make me feel good today ppls, we're bux-begging in the bkg. Make a pledge, show some love? Take me to 66% today, willya eh?
  3:06pm
Bryan:

Waaaay too long since I've heard this song. Always wished I could hear Prince cover it.
  3:08pm
don:

hmm.. i am alone in a studio on broadway transcoding a movie called "prince of broadway" ....
  3:22pm
65% dc pat:

well, looks like I'm going to become one of those weird Arsenal fans.
  3:25pm
glenn:

that implies that there are normal arsenal fans.
  3:28pm
65% dc pat:

nah, all Arsenal fans are weird...the kids decided, they both like Arsenal for some reason. I was going to go with Spurs but I don't call the shots around here...
  3:30pm
hubba:

How goes it Scott, comment board folkels..? Mondays are saved from the Thunder Dome of Doom once again... sing it: "We don't need another hero..."
  3:35pm
99pedlar:

Who would believe it Norfolk yokels above Arsenal .Sing it now ,On the ball City
  3:36pm
BSI:

65% Pat: It's true. I've described this phenomenon before, and it's weird. Arsenal fans are BORN this way. Some folks are left handed, some folks have birthmarks shaped like the Virgin Mary, and some of us are Arsenal fans. it's in the DNA somehow. Most often we suffer for it, but sometimes..... sometimes.... it becomes awesome.
  3:36pm
Randy in NC:

This last one sounded kind of like a middle eastern version of Crimson's Epitaph.
  3:37pm
m:

i always play can's "soundtracks" with the sides reversed... that way the album explodes into existence with "mother sky" and gives a proper send-off to mooney at the end with "soul desert" (rather than the sort of sad fade out of "she brings the rain".
  3:37pm
#K:

WOO THE SCOTT WILLIAMS SHOW HEY SCOTT
  3:38pm
#K:

hey I think I heard this song in a movie about a paint chip once
  3:38pm
hubba:

Scott is on fire!!!!!
  3:40pm
Carmichael:

Good day SW and citizens of the air/net waves.
  3:42pm
Scott W:

yo y'all! You are so correct #K, god I miss that chip.
@m - that is a great plan of action, well played sir
  3:43pm
65% dc pat:

BSI: huh, so based on your analysis, it may be impossible for me to be an Arsenal fan. I can see that the kids are already beyond help, but I definitely wasn't born a fan so maybe I can go back to the Spurs? I know one thing, I'm done with fekkin DC United. How do you allow 2 goals in added time??
  3:44pm
still b/p:

Some nice Marty. I decided last month I need to learn all the words to "El Paso." Soon.
  3:45pm
glenn:

out in the bum bum bum, soooomething something......
  3:47pm
chris:

awesome opening set I AM ENJOYING THIS SHOW
  3:50pm
Jim:

Hey, what's the "I can't tell when you're telling me the truth" clip from? GREAT SHOW @#$%^%$
  3:50pm
still b/p:

"..and she was pretty...I 'm dead....and I'm dead."

I heard one of the back-up singers say they made mistakes in the take that was used, but I always forget to listen closely for it.
  3:50pm
BSI:

65%Pat: For those not born with it, there is THE RITUAL. It involves being beaten senseless in a dark room by cackling millionaires brandishing Henry and Fabregas jerseys like floppy bludgeons.

But yeh, as frustrating as being a Gooner can be, it sure as hell beats watching DC United throw it away late in the second half of EVERY.FECKING.MATCH. I come here to drown my sorrows in the headphones.
  3:56pm
Caryn:

OK, planning to pledge today, but want to spread the love to a couple of DJs. If I pledge with the 12 Step Program, is the amount I have available to spread around the monthly amount or the full amount?
  3:59pm
Scott W:

Thansk chris & Jim and everybody! Jim, it's from the FZ / Mothers' album "Uncle Meat". Caryn, thanks for making your pledge! you should pledge the incremental amount
  4:01pm
Carmichael:

Jesus, I thought this was Skip Spence.
  4:02pm
Scott W:

Haha, yeah Carmichael good spot!~
  4:03pm
hubba:

Snagged the album that has "feedback" on it, and it has been a real giver...
  4:05pm
hubba:

Man, this could be like a lost Kiwi track...
  4:05pm
65% dc pat:

thanks for the advice BSI. I'll get the kids their Arsenal jerseys but secretly root for their arch-foes on matchday...
  4:07pm
Scott W:

yeah, what hubba said too
  4:07pm
#K:

yeah, this show rocks today I would rather talk about it than work
  4:09pm
Caryn:

Damn! So if I pledge 15 bucks a month, I can only pledge to one DJ in total? Curses, foiled again!
  4:12pm
Scott W:

Hey Caryn, no no - you can spread the pledges around. Sorry it's a little confusing. I think to make a pledge now, you have to pay now. JOE MCGASKO or LIZ BERG? Can one of you answer Caryn's question?
  4:17pm
hubba:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4:18pm
hubba:

Scott, you are totally ruling today... where is that wallet?
  4:19pm
Scott W:

Go Hubba Hubba!
  4:20pm
r i s k y .:

Hi Scott,

Enjoying the sounds on this enjoyable day!
  4:21pm
Adler:

This song made me explain the mid-eighties to Jason Sigal
  4:24pm
#K:

hahahaha Adler I like your comment yes
  4:25pm
Handsome Johnny:

Boy oh boy Scott your boyos were so unlucky on Saturday.
  4:25pm
Carmichael:

I barely survived the 80s. I sure as hell am not going to re-live them for some young punk. The internet and Nick at Night can do it just as easily.
  4:25pm
BSI:

where's the privy in here?
  4:28pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I agree with Carmichael...as a 14 year old in 1983 I had my best years wasted by the likes of Aha, Wham, and Spandau Ballet. My kids WILL DO BETTER!
  4:29pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

(luckily I had my parent's Dylan albums to get me through all that)
  4:30pm
Carmichael:

My daughter was asking me last night about politics, so I told her to google "Richard Nixon". Judging by the look on her face, I think that cured her.
  4:32pm
BSI:

DCE @4:28 -- heh! No kidding. I'm just one year ahead of you and it's true. What a waste..... I did have one ally with a huge underground music collection, so there was sweet salvation, but egad.
  4:34pm
Handsome Johnny:

Some of us were spoiled with the Sixties. Pop was all you needed.
  4:34pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

that person probably made you into the you we know you as today
  4:35pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

pop and extremely easy access to huge gobs of LSD, right...
  4:36pm
Handsome Johnny:

You canna be Handsome whilst tripping man; only in your universe.
  4:36pm
Carmichael:

They weren't THAT huge, honestly. Just chew the blotter, and take the ride.
  4:36pm
BSI:

Pretty much all domestic terrorism in the USA can probably be traced to those who were teenagers during the most popular phase of Huey Lewis and the News.... Of course this is just a theory.
  4:37pm
asoow:

i was twelve in eighty-three, lucky enough to have tv music video station U68 (were they around yet?) and then discovered wfmu soon after... (gobs of lsd came a bit later)
  4:37pm
BSI:

by the way, cheers on this, Scott. Probably my favorite Lungfish LP (though several haven't been heard yet)
  4:38pm
hubba:

@BSI - I thnk specifically it would be the "Happy to be Stuck with You" video that sent them over the edge...
  4:38pm
Handsome Johnny:

I heard tell that HL was at our primary skool. Unconfirmed.
  4:39pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

ooh I just saw that 80s movie Heavy Metal last night for the first time. It reawakened the 15 year-old in me. Now I'm trying to have him put back to sleep.
  4:40pm
Handsome Johnny:

I wish I hadn't said that.
You did Oscar, you did.
  4:41pm
tim from champaign:

I can die satisfied knowing that I caught Lungfish live 5 times. The last time I saw them they covered Buddy Holly's "Well Alright" Blind Faith style.
  4:42pm

dc pat: If your team concedes two late goals in added on time and you still support them..thats when YOU KNOW its your team! sad but true I know..
  5:15pm
Scott W:

Hey, thanks Tom!
  5:18pm
glenn:

speaking of nixon, i see that the guy who wrote the cheque which paid the watergate burglars expense monies died. www.nytimes.com/2011/10/09/us/kenneth-h-dahlberg-watergate-figure-and-wwii-ace-dies-at-94.html

  5:34pm
Carmichael:

@Glenn: the thought was prompted initially by surviving things like the 80s. My pat answer to any silly political squabble is, "I survived Nixon. I can handle any of these pussies."
  5:36pm
glenn:

nixon just got caught, that's all. i'm sure that reagan's and bush's douchery far exceeded his.
  5:39pm
George of Troy:

It's the third week of Awetober, and Scott is barely a third of the way to his goal. Make a pledge, folks . . . I just did, and you should too!
  5:42pm
Scott W:

Yes, that's right, haalp! and thanks very much George!
  5:44pm
dale:

hello mr. deejay. fine show. is timmy thomas the dude who did 'why can't we live together?'? was he an keyboard guy,or a singer?
  5:46pm
glenn:

he's a goalie.
  5:46pm
Scott W:

Hullo Dale! Organist, he was
  5:46pm
Marmalade Kitty:

what is this Les Yeux Valise reminding me of??
  5:47pm
LC:

This song is dope... but is it a cover of Gainsbourg?
  5:47pm
dale:

this is one of the finest shows on the radiola. half the time i'm rocking out. half the time i'm crying in my beer. half the time i'm cowering under the bed.
  5:48pm
dale:

marmalade - part of the melody nelson soundtrack?
  5:49pm
Scott W:

Whoah, thanks Dale, just like me! The Vannier sounds very sergey b/c of all the collaborations the 2 of em did together. Yr prolly thinking Cargo Cult or something, no?
  5:49pm
BZ:

A-ha...
"“L’enfant assassin des mouches” is a concept album by Vannier that was released by Night & Day in 2003. This instrumental album, which inspired Serge Gainsbourg to write the well known cruel tale, was originally recorded in 1973"
  5:50pm
hubba:

somewhat reserved on this zola Jesus... she sounds ready for the prime time.
  5:52pm
Marmalade Kitty:

HmmmI'm still thinking..!?
  5:52pm
Brass Knuckles:

I get tired of her vocals kind of quick. Don't know why. It's cool, but it gets boring or something.
  5:53pm
Mr. Lowry:

The "Jean-Claude Vannier" piece sounded scarily like a certain David Holmes track. Somebody was stealing from somebody.
  5:55pm
Brass Knuckles:

That Vannier song, the music was a straight lift from a Gainsbourg song, only the vocals made it sound like it was a not yet polished demo version.
  5:55pm
Brass Knuckles:

Awesome show today, btw. Ha.
  5:56pm
Scott W:

Thankee Brass Knuckles and all who stuck with me today!
  5:57pm
dale:

marm... listen to cargo cult.
  5:58pm
hubba:

Thanks Scott, as always, great show!!
  5:58pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Thanks Scott great show!
  5:59pm
Marmalade Kitty:

if i remember I'll post it! It's a buggin me!
