"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

pierre:

very nice show/sets to get trought my grey/cold/rainy parisian morning
  7:16am
JA:

pierre, if i wanted to convey to all of paris that this is it's soundtrack, who should i get in touch with there?
  7:23am
pierre:

I do not really know, to be honest. The mayor i guess, or some political region chiefs… I'm spreading the show through some social network site, but i doubt my situation is helping.
  7:31am
JA:

pierre, i think you are helping fine. maybe I could come and do a daylong dj set by that tower, do you think i would need to apply for a permit? if someone can arrange the equipment setup and a couple round trip tickets I would be happy to fit this into my schedule. J
  7:44am
annie:

good morning!! stopping in to say "Happy (select holiday of your choosing) and many happy returns!
  7:47am
pierre:

well, i will meet some people that work in radio, and ask them. But i'm already sure a permit is mandatory, and the place is crowded, i'm not sure it'll fit the mood, but it's up to you. I know other, more laid back places in Paris and France, that would make great broadcasting places. give me shout if you ever come to Paris
  7:50am
JA:

ok, maybe I should scale back my dream. but let's keep this dialogue going!
  8:03am
BDR:

Happy Zappadan!
  8:07am
pierre:

well don't scale back your dream John, somewhat, i'm sure, it'll help you manage to realise it.
  8:13am
JA:

ok pierre, thank you. we will make this happen one day!

bdr, this is a NO Zappa Zone. But I hope you enjoyed whatever festivities you celebrated these last few weeks.
  8:22am
Nathan:

I like this track
  8:23am
Cheri Pi:

This Belfegore is dyn-o-mite.
  8:25am
Nathan:

Slipped under my radar!... but I guess that's why I listen to WFMU..
  8:27am
Nathan:

this as well... I've got a weak spot for a vocoder.
  8:29am
BDR:

He is black licorice.
  8:30am
Nathan:

I've gotta put together an 'animal' inspired dj set for NYE... perhaps I could slip that Belfegore track in there... Seabird counts right?
  8:31am
Cheri Pi:

I'm not sure how I feel about Zappa. I do own zero albums-maybe that's how I feel.
  8:35am
glenn:

i give him big props for his musicianship.
  8:37am
Cheri Pi:

He is the master of changes, I definitely give him that.
  8:38am
pierre:

i'm slowly discoveringhis music, the first time i heard some FZ, was while trying to convince a girl to have a drink w/ me, and she said no. So FZ always sound a bit melancholic to me, due to this. And it warmth some part of my heart.
  8:39am
glenn:

but ultimately, he's kinda boring.
  8:40am
Cheri Pi:

Oh Pierre! what a story.
  8:42am
pierre:

(it was on "valley girl" - ironically -, in Edinburgh)
  8:42am
pierre:

Merci pour le show John !
Joyeux Noël et joyeuses fêtes
  8:47am
BDR:

See, I was listening to you and opened an email that opened a link to a Zappa tumbler blog and an obscure Zappa song started playing and like a dope I thought you were double-spinning songs rather than the Zappa blog playing music. Apologies - didn't mean to hijack thread or interject Zappa into a No Zappa Zone. I'd rather Beefheart anyway.
  8:48am
pierre:

(btw wfmu friends, i happened to scream on this compilation
http://sdzrecords.bandcamp.com/album/v-a-mar-cages-restauration
w/ two friends under the name SEX - i'm so sorry.)
  8:49am
JA:

no worries, threads are here to hijack. i know polarities vary but beefheart is the positive/zappa the negative here on JA in the AM. Sorry for that shameless plug for my show to the left.
  8:52am
George of Troy:

Hello everyone, checking in late today. Happy Solstice and holidays to all!
  2:20pm
Looms:

Thanks for the music, John. Happy year end!
