Listener comments!

  3:03pm
Sean Daily:

YES, IRWIN, YOU'RE LATE. PREPARE FOR YOUR PUNISHMENT.
  3:03pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Vote for Irwin!
  3:04pm
Sean Daily:

Huh, a rare picture of Irwin sober...
  3:05pm
G:

The late Irwin? He's dead????????????

The Old Codger, though -- I scan the obits every day for his.
  3:07pm
Mike East:

I'm in the middle of reading an Irwin Chusid article about the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. Very interesting piece.
  3:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

BYO Button. Get down, at The Irwin's Party!
  3:13pm
Sean Daily:

"The wall is on the writing"? What a very odd choice of imagery.
  3:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

Of all haunted graffiti artists, Ariel Pink is definitely the best.
  3:18pm
Sean Daily:

JESUS GOD I HATE ARIEL PINK I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM I HATE 'EM oh wait I like them.
  3:20pm
das:

Irwin's voice crashed my flash player
  3:22pm
Droll:

Irwin, Don't sell yourself short. You're not just the 7SD fluffer, you vacuum the studio.
  3:22pm
Sean Daily:

Daddy, what's a CD?
  3:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

Archaic *physical* media like CDs! Playing them in your car! Post it to FACEBOOK why don't cha!!
  3:23pm
G:

"Irwin Corey lives in an apartment in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. In 2011 it was reported that for the last 17 years he has panhandled, with the help of a walker, for change from motorists exiting the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, which is near his apartment. He has said that the money is used to purchase medical supplies for children in Cuba."
  3:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

@G: He was buying medical supplies (rum), and when he found he couldn't ship it to Cuba from NY, naturally he moved it to his apartment for safekeeping. Do you know how quickly rum evaporates indoors...
  3:31pm
Michael:

Afternoon old pal and fellow travelers.
  3:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

Jaggery is unique and strangely beautiful, keep playing her/them.
And a catalogue track from Procol Harum!
  3:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

Afternoon Michael!
  3:33pm
Sean Daily:

"The weakest man is stronger than Samson when blah blah blah blah blah blah blah." Dammit, how can I be stronger than Samson! ENUNCIATE, MAN!
  3:34pm
Michael:

When I worked on the Upper West Side I’d see the Professor occasionally. Tiny Tim all the time in the stationary store downstairs.
I don't think he ran for president though.
  3:39pm
Katya Oddio:

Was excited by the earlier playlist title, "I know all about classical music. I watched cartoons as a kid." Thanks for the grin.
  3:43pm
Ike:

At the beginning of the show, I liked how Irwin took personal responsibility for being late, unlike those godless commie hippie liberal fascist welfare-addicted pinkos who infest our society and never take responsibility for anything! DAMN COMMIES!
  3:44pm
Irwin:

Hi, Katya. Long time, etc.
  3:45pm
G:

@Mike 3:34: The wikipedia entry on Corey says this, and footnotes it to a NY Times article: "During the 1960 election, Corey campaigned for president on Hugh Hefner's Playboy ticket."
  3:46pm
Katya Oddio:

Hi there! Usually here, only quietly.
  3:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

That frrentic pause wouldn't have happened if Irwin was here ON TIME!!
  3:47pm
Michael:

I meant Tiny. (smiley). Anyone remember Pat Paulson running in '68?
  3:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Katya!
  3:48pm
Woo:

How does Verlaine make a living these days?
  3:49pm
das:

TV repairman?
  3:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

So, when are we going to get a Top 10,000 chart countdown? If you played them all at once you could fit them all in a 3 hour episode.
  3:52pm
Caryn:

Maybe just 1,000 songs at a time. That would still technically be just a 10-track set.
  3:54pm
Listening Out There:

..but aren't you going to release your income taxes?
  3:54pm
Brooklyn Calypso Phonograph Emporium:

Your net wealth is NEGATIVE! You owe 21 MILLION dollars to us!
  3:55pm
Dan B From Upstate:

Don't care for Starbucks. Can't say I care for Dunkin, either. Timmy Ho's is where it's at. Again... personal preference.
  3:56pm
Matt from Springfield:

And that helps to stretch out the show; unless one of the songs is three hours straight, that show will eventually run out of steam before the end :)

Hiya Caryn!
  3:56pm
Woo:

In my humble opinion this is Jonathan Richman's best song.
  3:58pm
das:

If I can't get coffee from starbucks I just give a few dollars to the first corporate employee of any kind I can find
  3:58pm
Caryn:

Hi Matt!
  3:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Dan B: That's so Canuck though, most of us don't even have that option!
So is they have pretty good coffee, doughnuts etc?
  4:00pm
Cory:

I know this is uncool, but I make my own coffee.
  4:01pm
Woo:

In place of coffee I'm going to try Honey Boo Boo Child's Go-Go Juice (Mountain Dew and Red Bull)
  4:04pm
das:

Woo, That's a manly drink to order from you local biker bar too
  4:04pm
G:

Not manly enough? Just order it in a dirty glass.
  4:05pm
northguineahills:

Hmmmm, I'm digging this Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble. I think this is at least the 3rd week in a row Irwin has played Trader Horne, which is a good thing.
  4:06pm
das:

I'm scared of bikers these days, most of them seem to be dentists and lawyers
  4:08pm
Caryn:

Woo, will a dollar make you holler like Honey Boo Boo?
  4:10pm
Droll:

. o O ( 7/4 time signature and Mellotron?! Is Marco one of those closet prog rockers? )
  4:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

Go MB!! Can't wait for his live appearance!
  4:13pm
Dan B From Upstate:

@Matt, I've never had a bad meal from Tim's. Breakfast or lunch. Breakfast sandwiches are good, and the donuts don't leave that greasy film on the roof of your mouth like Dunkin does. If you've never noticed it, you will from now on.
  4:17pm
Caryn:

Somehow I suspect WFMU listeners are more partial to Russ Tamblyn's turn in "Twin Peaks" than his old musical roles. Of course, what do I know? I'm partial to both.
  4:18pm
Andrew Waterloo:

i usually go to Tim's cause there is basically one on every corner here.
  4:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Karaban caravan coming in from the West Coast! Another performance that should be great.

@Dan B: Thanks, and I'll be sure to measure the grease residue of DD next time I go there.
  4:19pm
northguineahills:

Caryn is correct in my case.
  4:21pm
Sticky Wicket:

Hit me up if you want something to remove the greasy film from the roof of your mouth
  4:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Andrew: In Waterloo Ontario? I'll bet! ;)
  4:25pm
Mike East:

I finally found a copy of this Who album for 40 bucks at my local record store... a little broke right now, so I'll have to go back for it.
  4:26pm
Woo:

I am enjoying your programming Irwin. A pinch of classic rock is never unwelcome.
  4:26pm
Sticky Wicket:

Wow, $40?
  4:27pm
SteveL:

$40? Wow. Used to see that album on every visit to the record store, (same as "Budgie" and the like.) Of course, I never picked it up.
  4:28pm
a cautionary tale:

One day someone accidentally switched the decaf with the regular. It was a warm summer afternoon in the math building and Chuck dozed off in the middle of his abstract algebra class. One by one the students started to fall asleep. Disgusted but unswayed, the teacher sat down and kept writing on the blackboard. I walked by the door in the hallway and heard a 'scriiitch'. I backed up to see what was going on and the entire class along with the teacher had fallen asleep, his chalk lying at his
feet on the floor.
  4:28pm
Mike East:

its the original, not reissue...in mono i believe.
  4:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thomas! Classic indeed!
  4:31pm
Ringo:

What a performer!
  4:31pm
chris:

holy hell
  4:32pm
Das:

Thomas never gets old.
  4:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, the cautionary tale sounds like a Matt Twilight Zone episode!
  4:33pm
Karaoke:

Thanks to me, you can be treated to stuff like this at your local bar every weekend!
  4:33pm
Woo:

Hmmm, what if someone recorded someone singing along to Thomas singing along to the Beatles? Where's my tape recorder?
  4:34pm
Das:

I've never noticed the passion behind these lyrics
  4:34pm
Shower Stall:

I've heard worse singers
  4:35pm
mick:

fucking make it stop
  4:36pm
Mike East:

I'd buy the original Thomas recordings for 40 bucks.
  4:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Woo: There's no time! Record directly into your computer and send it to FMU, stat!
  4:36pm
Mike East:

so good.
  4:36pm
Laura L:

Music for the eighth day of the week.
  4:37pm
Woo:

Thomas blew his mind out in a car.
  4:38pm
AnAnonymousParty:

I assume 'Sings' is Thomas' last name?
  4:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

Can't you liiiistennnnn, people?
  4:38pm
Thomas:

I should be singin' like a log
  4:38pm
Lloyd:

Where does one find Thomas Rewrites the Beatles?
  4:38pm
andymorphic:

i didnt think anything could be a worse listening experience than amanda but you did it
  4:39pm
Irwin:

@Lloyd: right here!
  4:39pm
Nerd King:

Contraraoke - The art of performing karaoke without regard to the actual lyrics.
  4:39pm
Sean Daily:

Well, any mashup with "Devil Town" in it is... unexpected.
  4:39pm
Caryn:

@andymorphic: that's why Irwin makes the big star bucks!
  4:40pm
Lloyd:

haha, google lists your playlists as the only place.
  4:41pm
Woo:

Oh God what have I done?
  4:42pm
104.3:

@Woo: You got Irwin to steal our playlist.
  4:43pm
Ajax:

AMANDA is my favorite part of Irwin's show.
  4:43pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Lloyd: That's why it's right here! Not available in stores!
@Nerd King: I could have a good time doing Contraraoke!
  4:43pm
Classic Rock Mama:

I used to hate this show ya'll
  4:43pm
sherri:

CONCRETE NIPPLES!!!!!
  4:44pm
?:

is this ZZ Top from vinyl, or did they get around to remastering this album on CD? The 1990's discs had crappy sounding re-recorded drum parts . . .
  4:44pm
Droll:

104.3, Irwin stole the ZZ Top from Therese, she played it a few days ago. I almost blew a speaker 'cuz of it.
  4:44pm
Irwin:

@Caryn: Alex Chilton also used to make the Big Star bucks.
  4:44pm
Mike East:

sorry, 104.3, I think this is too much of a deep cut for you.
  4:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

It's a real bitch trying to search for US locations of Tim Hortons, but I've found the closest one to me is in Norfolk, VA. And increasing numbers in NYC, so if I remember I should hit one up next time I'm in either city.
  4:46pm
sherri:

there's a band called zz pot
  4:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Easy ZZ.
  4:51pm
Carmichael:

I am later than Irwin. Hello everyone.
  4:52pm
Andrew Waterloo:

Billy Bob Thornton toured the country in a ZZ Top cover band
  4:54pm
Katya Oddio:

Thinks back with a smile on a rural cemetery on a sunny afternoon long ago and far away
  4:56pm
John Cage:

I'm later than all y'awl!
  4:56pm
Irwin:

@K: Those were the days. Or a day, anyway. A memorable one.
  5:01pm
Katya Oddio:

Thank you for that day.
  5:02pm
Irwin:

There's pix!
  5:04pm
Katya Oddio:

Some you took on my back, you nut
  5:04pm
Irwin:

{demonic laughter}
  5:06pm
Listening Out There:

...hey, who's moderating these comments, anywho? Isn't this getting a little personal? I'm telling...
  5:08pm
Katya Oddio:

Listening Out There, there was a goat involved, too. Now there's something to tell.
  5:10pm
Listening Out There:

...well, as long as it was a consenting goat, I guess that's all that matters...
  5:11pm
Irwin:

The goat was not harmed. It was already dead. So THERE!
  5:12pm
Wiseass:

Get a room! :P
  5:12pm
Listening Out There:

*Ring*Ring* "Hello...FCC?" :)
  5:12pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Katya: By any chance do you have these strange rural cemetery pics posted?

  5:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

Pretty location indeed, thank you.
  5:17pm
Caryn:

Nice pic, but where's the dead goat?
  5:18pm
G:

In an unmarked grave
  5:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Irwin: Did it ever occur to you that by playing Angil & the Hiddentracks frequently the last few weeks, their tracks are no longer HIDDEN!?!
  5:22pm
Irwin:

Since I'm the only one playing them, and my show isn't the BEST on WFMU, no one will notice.
  5:23pm
northguineahills:

...and I was just about to say how much I enjoy Angil & the Hiddentracks.....
  5:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: Angil & the Somewhatpublicizedbutstillmostlyobscuretracks.
  5:27pm
The Hiddentracks:

Thanks, dick.
  5:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Hiddentracks: Have you considered camouflaging your album covers? That would keep your tracks hidden in some way...
  5:35pm
Caryn:

Well, considering the SE discussion today on Ken's show, I think it's safe to say that there's at least one body in the world who will insist to the ends of the earth that they've never even heard of Angil & The Hiddentracks, no matter how often they're played on the radio... So, partial success!
  5:38pm
The Hiddentracks:

@Matt: No, but we did sell our first album in Norah Jones cd cases.
  5:43pm
Matt from Springfield:

@HTracks: Sneak attack! I like that idea!

And Spirit! Love this band, here's a new one to me!
  5:48pm
Jason from UK:

Great show
  5:49pm
northguineahills:

Talibam! used to take Vice Recs samplers (found in rec stores dumpsters) and use them for their cdrs, although they add a little paint..., so, not quite the same... and they were given to me in person.
  5:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nice choice of Moody track!
Have you been hanging out with DJ Julie, Irwin? ;)
  5:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

Well I guess this cliffhanger will just have to wait until next week.
  5:57pm
northguineahills:

so, I wouldn't confuse which cd it would be.
  5:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great tunes today Irwin!
Have a good evening everyone!
