Emotional forecasts...finally some forecasting most of us can use!
  3:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

A wonderful world of percussion it is! We NEED more xylophone leads!

Alison Porchnik:

This is exactly what my sinus headache needs. Thank you.

And donors to help reach this show's support goal.
  3:16pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Irwin, Alison and other incomers!
Hope your sinus headache eases up, Alison.
  3:18pm
Michael:

Hey now Irwin. I can only assume Mr. C. Edison would have voted for the great Mills as Essex County Sheriff.
  3:20pm
Irwin:

No, Courtney preferred the renegade Dodge City Party sheriff, who had a more aggressive approach to law enforcement.
  3:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

I like this cover!

Stop fussing with your ears, Irwin. Hair grows in weird places when you begin to age. Deal with it.

Recommend the documentary on Nilsson: Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt075672
  3:25pm
Denise in DC:

This Nilsson has a touch of Zappa-esque lunacy.

Oh dear, was that doppelcommenter of mine back again?
  3:46pm

That's great for DJ Keilidh! I've never had a 100% music compatibility with anyone. Hang on to Ken, Keiligh.
  3:47pm

DJ Keili!
good to hear her on the airwaves...
  3:47pm

Katya Oddio:

fashion, this show is where I first heard Miley Cyrus. Rules-free freeform forever.
  3:58pm
Denise in DC:

Irwin, does your percentage-raised figure count last week's contributions, or just this week's?
  4:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

"The title of the album is based on a malapropism. Eric Clapton had been thinking of buying a racing bicycle and was discussing it with Ginger Baker, when a roadie named Mick Turner commented, "it's got them Disraeli Gears", meaning to say "derailleur gears," but instead alluding to 19th-century British Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli. The band thought this was hilarious, and decided that it should be the title of their next album."
  4:01pm
Katya Oddio:

WFMU and UCB, two of the best reasons to live in the NYC metro area
  4:06pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Katya: And the Meetups! That's a huge plus to meet with your fave DJs and hosts, and see them at the Record Fair and Hoof & Mouth as well!

Speaking of which @Denise: I'm trying to lay the groundwork for a DC area fans Meetup. Would you be interested? Would a weeknight or weekend be better?
  4:09pm
Denise in DC:

Oh, absolutely! A weekend would be better for me, but a weeknight might be possible if it was early enough. I've got some medical issues that are causing my docs to shake their fingers at me about going to bed early.
  4:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great Denise! There was a smaller group of N. VA fans who were interested, and I may help arrange a Meetup in Falls Church first to see how that goes. If successful, I'd go for a larger, DC-based Meetup (VA and MD also invited, but some were reluctant to head into the District for a Meetup). I'll let you all know how that goes in any case, and use the official website to announce it when the time comes.
  4:13pm
SteveL:

Heard Mr. Soul live in Chicago at the Crazy Horse concert. They still bring it. Great show, (and I hate arena shows.)
  4:13pm
northguineahills:

Sweet, Buffalo Springfield....
  4:13pm
Denise in DC:

Which official website, Matt?
  4:15pm
jan:

Something happening here, Irwin. We (I) would certainly
enjoy more Buffalo Springfield, if you don't mind.
  4:16pm
Matt from Springfield:

meetup.com -- WFMU has a group on there, I would announce it there (I need to register with meetup.com first) and hype it on the comments to raise awareness. It's difficult wrangling fans together since we're not local to the station, but the Inter-tubes makes it easier!

No silent donors this show today? Waaaah!
  4:20pm

I gave at the orifice. So to speak.
  4:22pm

I gave last week.
  4:22pm

Thanks, Matt!

I gave pre-show. Silently. Except for this. I saw the percentage change!

Matt from Springfield:

Hooray, Old Codger!
  4:28pm

I gave last week too. Give now...give often...
  4:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, this is worse than the Christian public access stuff posted on YT!!
In fact it's worse than most "incorrect" Christian records!
  4:37pm
Listening Out There:

Not fair. I'm listening to a meeting. I should be listening to this instead. I miss the good stuff...
  4:38pm

Oh how this hurts. Hard to breathe.

That's gotta count for something, right?

Beautiful. Who knew Irwin was a Dancetude kind of guy?
  5:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

Well, it's special that the Irwin-Ike agreement for this year just happened! Celebrate with a drink later.

The best bit of arcana discovered on your comments page:
The origin of the name 'Disraeli Gears.' So what kind of bike
did Clapton buy, anyway?
  5:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Alison: Dance Étude, mind you :)
Lovely études here indeed.
  5:16pm
Matt from Springfield:

@jan: Here's a long blog post talking about Clapton's interest in bikes:
http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/2008/01/from-bsnyc-culture-desk-clapton-by-eric.html

Although, Eric seems to have bought many bikes over the years, but isn't fond of riding them: "I was hoping that part of Clapton’s obsession with bicycles might involve riding them, but alas, this is not the case: '...I have begun buying vintage road bikes, not to ride but because I have always loved the equipment of cycling, especially bikes and accessories from the sixties.' "

Hi OD, superbity is always in excess here!

Seeing that 54% makes me regret already paying my pledge this time around.
  5:23pm
jan:

Bikes and accessories from the 60's are quite appealing, and there were a number of hand crafted British bikes as well as the Italian bikes one could fetishize. I will check the link. Thanks

Hey Matt, indeed it is!

RRG: This is an incredible song, with great arrangement, vocal, lyrics, rhythm, instrumentation, and je ne sais quoi.
  5:41pm
Katya Oddio:

Guinness World Records says that Michael Jackson’s Mexican fans have won the world record for most people to dance to the song “Thriller” simultaneously in one place. 13,597 people performed the dance routine on Aug. 29, 2009 which would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday. Has it been broken yet?

Thank you for all your contributions to the Found Footage Festival over the years, Irwin! I cheer every time the fellas credit you in the theatre out here.

@Katya: Do they ever issue the featured found films on DVD? Or, at least take it on tour? I'd love to go to a Found Footage Festival!

(Everything Is Terrible! Has released DVDs, that's about the closest I've found. And even those are generally all from commercial videos).
