Bonjour Scott !
  3:03pm
MD:

I LOVE THIS!!!! IT IS THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!
  3:03pm
Carmichael:

Hiya Scott. Got here for the opening bars, finally.
  3:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, artist calls himself "Kermit" too! This piece is kind of like "Turn-On", the really trippy, controversial "Laugh In" type show that lasted one episode.

Hi Scott! Bonjour pierre!
  3:05pm
big chimp:

i'm waiting for the "bad mind reading" to go along with the lips.

Hola mein freundes! Welcome. Ok, I'll get this outta the way now -- I'm only at 13% on my little pledge ticker there & I've only got 2 shows left! Put me over the 50% mark today wouldja?
  3:08pm
pierre:

I dont have a lot these days, but I'm going to pledge to your show Scott. Because everybody need a dose of this.
  3:09pm
pierre:

The slowed down baby cry give me the goose bumps.
  3:11pm
DCE:

I've slowed down my daughter's laugh so that she sounds like an insane mental patient, but I've never tried the crying.
  3:12pm
Thomas:

Great start
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm

Hey DCE, yeah me too! That demon voice under that mini-set was her gone collicky at a few days old, slowed. the original speed is far too horrifying to air! Also once recorded her having a convo with ants & tweaked it til she sounded like she was 20. that one's really weird
  3:14pm
ian wilmoth:

who knew this was an entire genre? reminds me of some of the more abstract interludes in firesign theater back in the day.
  3:17pm
DCE:

kids are fun!
  3:20pm

Hi Scott! What Popol VUhoition!!!
  3:22pm

  3:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Scott: Like the idea of the ants conversation!

"Lysergic University, circa 1969"
  3:23pm
dale:

emotional letdown!
  3:27pm
dcp:

WHOA, whoa, whoa! Turn it down Scott...JEEEzus..

BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Good afternoon, everyone! Just got in from a supermarket visit. Was listening on my phone. Now listening via my laptop. Cheers!
  3:53pm
Matt from Springfield:

I think this is...Ricky Nelson.
I'm not sure, but I'll get that guess in.
  3:54pm
dale:

osmonds?
  3:55pm
common:

the osmonds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Scott W:

good guesses both, but nope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Scott W:

you're on the right track tho - in one important clue of a way
  3:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Everlys seemed too obvious, and was confirmed not to be.
"One important clue of a way"... someone who was on the Andy Griffith Show, maybe??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
Scott W:

this'll rip the lid off, but.... family band
  4:00pm
dale:

i'd have to hear it again. assuming it's one of those not what you'd expect answers. is it the mormon connection? the romney kids?
  4:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

Incidentally, that Early Upchurch and Doris Kidd was GREAT! I like folk and gospel, so I'm glad I found out about them! Factoria is amazing too, in a diff psychedelicate way.
  4:01pm
DCE:

the lid is still firmly in place, and the contents have not spilled out.
  4:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Brothers Gibb??
  4:02pm
DCE:

I missed almost the entire track as I was doing the interoffice mail when it was playing and only heard the last 20 seconds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm
Scott W:

winner! go Matt.
  4:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Whoaly guacaholy!! I used your hint, but I gotta admit that's some good trivia!
Thanks for the challenge!
  4:04pm
dale:

rats. i never win anything.
  4:04pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Somewhere I have a recording of a very young Kurt Cobain singing the theme to The Monkees TV show.
  4:05pm
MD:

wAY TO GO mATT!!!
  4:05pm
DCE:

now you gotta come up with the prize
  4:06pm
Matt from Springfield:

I'm at work now, but I'm dropping "tips" across many FMU shows this silent Marathon. So I think I'll send *you* something as well! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Scott W:

sweet sweet man! thanks Matt
  4:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

I gotta think of a "good" prize--tangible, like a WFMU t-shirt I don't have? Or intangible, like a list of Scott's fav albums that he hasn't told us..
  4:10pm
chris:

@dale, you're listening to Scott on FMU, you're a winner!
  4:13pm
dale:

yay! and a damn fine prize it is, too!
  4:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

They're the "prizes" given away 24/7, over the station's airwaves and streams!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
Stanley Barcelona Jolene:

Oh my god I'm actually here! It feels so right and natural
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm
Stanley Barcelona Jolene:

The new Yo La Tengo took my socks off completely
  4:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hello Stanley!
But, (Mr.) Jolene, please don't take him, just because you can.
  4:21pm
DCE:

haha, MfS
  4:22pm
Aaron in Jcity:

Awesome afternoon Scott
  4:23pm
DCE:

I was working on a project, but since "the system" is moving slowly today, I have an excuse to stop.
  4:23pm
Carmichael:

Awful song reference, Matt. Speaking of which, I did the same this weekend, which made me think of you (Beach Boys fan). A friend told me she went to her Harvard class reunion, and I didn't know she was from there originally. I told her that East coast girls are hip, and I really dig the styles they wear. She didn't get it ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm
Stanley Barcelona Jolene:

The only thing I take is fresh squeezed orange juice if you have it Mr. Springfield.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
Stanley Barcelona Jolene:

Is there a song about orange juice?
  4:28pm
DCE:

Jolene is an awful song? no way, Carm!
  4:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Stanley: I have lemons and limes at my fridge in Springfield, have to pick up an orange on the way home, juice it and mail you a container. I don't know of a song about orange juice, but I bet there is one somewhere...
  4:31pm
common:

you misunderstood my tone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
Scott W:

I KNEW it!
  4:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: Is she fairly young? Sad that people are no longer getting even that reference, from a "hit" Beach Boys song. Well the tremendous history of the BBs survives with us, make sure you "evangelize" others like myself. Spread the word, of their hits AND lesser knowns!
  4:31pm
DCE:

like in Close Encounters?
  4:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Though, I believe Carm meant it as an awful ("clunky") song *reference*. Which, I have been known to do. And still enjoy doing, nonetheless.
  4:33pm
Carmichael:

DCE, that cowboy bass line turns me off every time. It's a gut reaction, something I can't control.
  4:34pm
MD:

WILLIE,WAYLON,AND THEE!!!
  4:34pm
Carmichael:

And I menat "awful" in a complimentary way, like "impressive".
  4:34pm
DCE:

clunk on then, MfS! and Carm, put yer cowboy hat on and ride that bronc to completion!
  4:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: In your honor, I will imagine a David Essex bassline the next time I "clunk on"!
  4:38pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

There was a group called Orange Juice.
  4:41pm
Carmichael:

Ironically DCE, 8 seconds is about my limit.
  4:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, BMW - "Baader Meinhof Wagon"!
  4:45pm
DCE:

touche!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm
Scott W:

haha, yeah - i resisted the urge to go to Amon Duul
  4:49pm
common:

good eve scott and all!
  4:52pm
sleepy:

good song to nap to
  4:52pm
Carmichael:

Yes, Howard Jones' old band.
  4:52pm
Faye (upstairs):

we are literally crying with laughter up here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm
Scott W:

haha, faye - was it the Schimpfluch-Gruppe? i thought that was hilarious. carm, uhh... you mean Between 2 Fires? some obscure nj band
  5:00pm
Faye (upstairs):

yes Schimpfluch-Gruppe it was!
Also I was pleasantly surprised by your slowed down baby cry usage earlier on this program
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm
Stanley Barcelona Jolene:

Good call sleepy I fell asleep during Schrimp-flux too. They're too quiet. They remind me of Belle and Sebastian.
  5:17pm
Carmichael:

Orange Juice was Howard Jones' band, right? Am I hallucinating? Maybe I drank from BSI's glass accidentally?
  5:17pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I sensed a "Time Is Passing By"-era Bee Gees influence in that Schimpfluch-Gruppe track.
  5:18pm
northguineahills:

Darn. really dig this Swans track.
  5:20pm
Carmichael:

No, way off. I was thinking of Edwyn Collins. I'm so stupid sometimes.
  5:50pm
Joe D:

oh my god Scott. Fantastic. Perfect for my recent discovery of The Equals.
  5:50pm
Ike:

I like this version of "Electric Avenue." Although, to be honest, "Electric Avenue" was the first pop song that I loved as a child, so I'd probably like almost any version of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Scott W:

Yo Joe! Cool. Heyyyy, anyone here wanna pull out some magic in the last minutes and get my pledge ticker up to 50% ish? kisses to all
