	6:53pm Billy Jam: Back in the mid-80's I travelled back to my homeland of Ireland where I did a series of music related interviews in Dublin and Belfast that I just recently found for the first time in 25 years. Recorded between 1985 and 1987 I had initially played back edited down versions on the Bay Area radio stations KPFA and KALX. This is the first time I have played back the full version (well some few edits including the curses - Irish people love to curse:) of this interview with these Dublin mods (former members of the disbanded Emerald Society mods collective) who I caught up with at a Dublin pub off Capel Street called the Fox and Pheasant where these young fans of mod culture threw parties that they called the Ric Tic club: so named after the Ric Tic Records label that released the opening song of today's show - Edwin Starr's 1965 7" single "Agent Double-O-Soul." Like the UK mods of this same era these Dublin mods were part of a mod/Northern Soul revival that drew their inspiration from 1960's music and fashion but distanced themselves from the (mostly The Jam inspired) late 70's/early 80's mod revival of a few years earlier. As well as RnB and soul from the 60's these Dublin mods also liked a lot of 60's rock (you will hear the Kinks' version of "Louie Louie" playing in the background at one point in the interview aired today). At the other more popular Dublin 1980's mod revival night club at Bubbles (referenced in today's broadcast) that ran up to 1987, in what is now the basement of the Temple Bar Hotel in Adair Lane), in addition to the predominant soul and rnb there was also such odd tracks as the "Hawaii 5-O" theme played at the end of the night was assumed to be mod but wasn't. Today's interviewees also reference music not always associated with mod culture such as jazz and the music of Elmore James. On today's show I will play a lot of the music these mods would listen/dance to. Note however I may also play some other additional tracks too today.
