Yair Yona:

no shit! Wow, thought it's like an obscure 1967 cover!
Avatar 5:17am
ausmanx:

one thing australia is good at is sounding like it's 1967! good evening all, from sydney
Avatar 5:25am
pierre:

Hi ausmanx, i must say your part of the earth
has awesome bands. The New Weird Australia compilations on the free music archivefor example, is a great sample of what it seems we can find (never been there)
Avatar 5:28am
Yair Yona:

Pierre - you're right. The New Weird Australia is indeed a brilliant compilation, and Australia is the home of The Church, that means Australia has good waters in their faucets.
Avatar 5:33am
pierre:

Yair — to someone that doesn't know The Church very well, which album would you reccomend (out of the blue) ? I'm really really digging Australian and New Zealand music recently. And the Church seems to have some Jangle pop element in it, so it looks like i'm going to dig it even more !
Avatar 5:40am
Yair Yona:

Pierre - that's a tough one, as they almost don't have a bad record. They are indeed less of a 'psych' band, but more a pop-sixties-rock. I'd start with Starfish as the mainstream album you start listening to The Church, and right after that I'd listen to Heyday and Blurred Crusade
But really, don't miss ANYTHING they did since 1980 to at least a decade later.
Avatar 5:52am
pierre:

thanks Yair, i'll dive into it as soon as I can.
