You are totally playing my tunes, today, Tony.

"Give Booze A Chance" is a separate track from "Sofa Head" on the Anthropology CD. I guess the Peel Sessions version runs 'em together?
Avatar 12:30pm
Tony Coulter:

I've got you tune -- and I'm not givin' it back.

And yep, "Peel Sessions" joins those tracks together in holy matrimony.

Up the Dead ante, Uncle Michael -- play a China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Brian in UK:

Just before going out to watch Speedway racing at Wembley Stadium. Riding my BSA 650.
Avatar 1:09pm
Tony Coulter:

I've heard "Uncle John's Band" 10 million times -- mostly because my upstairs neighbor in Brooklyn used to play it over and over and over, in rotation with Pachelbel's Canon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Brian in UK:

That Canon must have been noisy. Did he have a license?
Avatar 1:11pm
Tony Coulter:

Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm

I have a China>Rider in the to-do folder. I'm not gonna wear out the Dead though.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm

Not enough Jefferson Airplane on the airwaves these days. Did Starship ruin it for them?
Avatar 2:00pm
Tony Coulter:

Those Starship albums are pretty dire, based on the few I've picked up in dollar bins. I've tried to find redeemable qualities, so far with no success.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Rich in Washington:

I've been listening the whole time, trying in vain to assemble a piece of Ikea furniture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
Uncle Michael:

Don't overlook "Paul Kantner's Jefferson Starship."

It's *not* a Jefferson Starship album.
Avatar 2:03pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey Rich! Dug the '68 special!
Avatar 2:03pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Uncle Michael!: Ah yes, I do know and like that one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Tony! I merely sat and watched Alejandro and Dr. Zomb/Toby work their magic. I did play a few records, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
pacific standard simon:

Michael, you should try playing American Prayer with an overdubbed laugh track. Or simultaneously with Jack Kerouac.
Avatar 2:06pm
Carmichael:

After the 1st few albums, the Airplane kinda fizzled out, IMHO. Too much infighting for control eventually gave us Jefferson Starship, Starship, Kantner's Starship, et al ...

Having said that, Surrealistic Pillow is one of the greatest albums of its era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
pacific standard simon:

The Hot Tuna contingent of the band continued to sound pretty good for some time after the rest of the band didn't.
Avatar 2:12pm
Tony Coulter:

HEY! It's been over two hours with no pledges. This will not stand (or sit down). Won't someone pledge for stream and station? Pretty please with the substance of your choice on top.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
pacific standard simon:

I'm afraid the discretionary portions of my first October paycheck scooted into other rabbit holes on the FMU landscape. We'll see about the second one when that arrives.

That said, Hell yes, guys. Please kick Tony some bucks if you haven't done anything yet -- he's worth it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm

Don't use your desktop tape dispenser as a hammer when assembling Ikea furniture. It's likely filled with sand to add weight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Uncle Michael:

Not anymore.
Avatar 2:20pm

Thanks, Simon!

Wise words, Rich. And be careful with the tweezers, too -- they'll crush the dwarf.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm

Can any keyheads tell me what kind of organ that was played in that Caravan song? It wasn't a Mellotron/Chamberlain, was it? It reminds me of some of the keyboard sounds in Soft Machine.
