Hi Risky, Yair, Chris, common, and doca! Good to see everyone here. Hope the folks in the U.S. are experiencing the healing powers of the end of daylight savings time.

Nice to have the sun up earlier, for sure, but it's less fun to see it getting dark around 5PM. The trees are sure pretty these days.

Did everyone have a good halloween? I celebrated early... my Glenn Danzig costume was indeed scary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am
KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello all. Yup, going to work in daylight makes sunglare & early darkness almost worth it. But that's nothing that migrating to the southern hemisphere couldn't cure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am
tim from champaign:

Yep, I had a good time on Halloween. Too good of a time in fact. My wife wore a dusted grey afro wig and dressed as Art Professor Emeritus. Then as the good times rolled, she turned into King Buzzo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am
Ken From Hyde Park:

My kids & I had a great Halloween. She dressed as a human taco and he was the Grim Reaper: "I've come to harvest your souls...and candy." We left a bowl of fruit gushers on the porch while we were out, but no one took any.

No Silver Jews connection with Old Mate that I know of... There is very little info on the Old Mate single, though.

thanks Liz! I am just jumping around today I suppose...

Does anyone hear some distortion on the FM broadcast? Sounds like over-modulation or poor compression
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am
Liz Berg:

Good ear, Whosondephone! We're having issues at 91.1 FM, and we're on our backup transmitter this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am

Thanks for the heads up. This station has been sounding so great lately I was getting worried.

Mike East:

morning, folks!
Any ideas how to get a drop of melted wax off of a vinyl record without scratching it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am
Liz Berg:

That's a good riddle, Mike East. Sorry I can't be of help, but there's gotta be a way. To get melted wax off of fabric, you put a paper towel one top and iron it... but as you can see, there is a fatal flaw with using that approach on vinyl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am
Mike East:

Yes, quite a conundrum. Its right on top of my favorite track on "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", too. Don't even know how it happened...not sure if I should blame the wife or kids.
Avatar 11:33am
northguineahills:

The melting point of wax is slightly lower then vinyl, so, it's a delicate operation.
Avatar 11:33am
Malcolm:

I'm finding it quite hard not to dance to this music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am
tim from champaign:

Mike - I'm friends with the folks in media preservation. I'll email them and get back to you.
Avatar 11:39am
doca:

Liz, I was half asleep so I missed it, but what's the name of that french song you played in the last set or the set before it?
Avatar 11:40am
doca:

You're program now begins at noon for me, so I'll be mixing it with my post-lunch nap (yay!) during the summer
Avatar 11:40am
Chris from DC:

Melt Banana in DC tonight. Been waiting for that one a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
tim from champaign:

@ Mike East - here's one response: "My initial thought is hot enough water to melt the wax, but not enough to affect the vinyl and give a bit of pressure with a lint-free cloth to remove the softened wax ; avoid getting the label area wet"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
Liz Berg:

doca, the French song was La Femme "It's Time to Wake Up." That whole album is fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am
Mike East:

Thanks, tim!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am

Avatar 11:58am

thanks, Liz, I'll search it later. And thanks for the wonderful show!
Avatar 11:59am

Hope the main 91.1 transmitter gets fixed soon. Signal strength in Brooklyn is extremely low. Listening on the web instead.
