how's this visual premise: a guy dressed as a "DJ" miming that he is "spinning" and "scratching" on a rig that is visibly not even plugged in to anything. while kenzo mixes the program from behind a curtain.

A large red button that says "DO NOT PRESS" but is so big and bright that the audience could not resist pressing it. The button is wired to randomly toggle something on Kenzo's rig (turns a device off, causes something to loop, cause something to go backwards, etc).

Is anyone at all surprised that the only consistent commenters of the female sex are the two or so who have to be confined at a desk IAE during a stretch of time coinciding with programming? Seems less like program loyalty and more like, "well, it sure beats working during these hours."

More women might spend even their precious leisure time commenting / listening with an honest loyalty if the community did a better job with a supportive atmosphere. Just offering an observation.

I'm sorry you feel it's sexist in any way - don't understand it - hope it isn't true, but don't negate your perceptions either! Late replies! -->
@kat330: Thanks for the volume-adjusting suggestion. Today there were some levels challenges since I didn't have the special volume button with me. I have subsequently eliminated the need to have such button ever again!

@Mike Noble: I don't use any live-audio software (like Traktor/etc.). Just basic players akin to a sea of turntables and tape decks, and it's on me to do something interesting with that. I do write a lot of software to make it work better, and to make the live playlist w/accurate timestamps possible straight from my live sampling (to say nothing of the live playlist software I wrote earlier for the website...). Today I wrote software to fix this week's levels problem for the future!

@Bliss: I like the trap-door-at-show idea, except instead of sliding out to the sidewalk, you wind up in a random world far away.

@Mike Noble: DC not so far away...good idea to play there! Welcome to the show.

@kat330: If I used your piece this week, it was in a sample from one of the earlier shows sampled. Thanks for otherworldly astronomy photos.

@listener james from westwood: Long live Grandpa Al Lewis! And, happy to hypnotize.

@kat330: You're describing a vast capitalist phenomenon about desk wage slavery in general. No gender escapes it outside of the upper classes!

@Mike Noble: 7SD might have been our "gateway" program to all the rest here, but after donating over $400 specifically to Ken & Andy and never receiving a single "thank you" from either, Philo and I eschew the show now.

@northguineahills: FMU Main page? I'm quite familiar with "main page" shows and, no, there are not "many prolific female commentators" day to day except a couple during the 40-hr. U.S. work week when at their jobs. There are a few others loyal to a specific DJ, but not like yourself or Rabbit all over the grid.

@James: At least you're splitting work and chatting. :) [Besides, I believe you work for yourself as do I -- completely different from being paid by another to do this thing here.]

@Kenzo: re: "describing a vast capitalist phenomenon" -- I don't think you're getting my drift, which is about females on lists and in what circumstance they're more likely to appear. There's certainly no lack of male "desk jockeys" also on the lists, but that wasn't my specific point. Email if still confused. :)

What show would I produce if I had an air slot on Friday? I would air a progressive rock show! No matter the date, time, or station, I would do a prog show. When I did radio, I did prog. When I don't do radio, I request prog. Prog is treated worse than disco, which I never understood. I'm not a prog bigot, I make fun of it, I get it... but I still love it!

The archives are more interesting, or at least more surprising, when the DJ is talking to me, even though I won't hear it for days. Still, I don't expect anyone else to come back to read or reply to my comments because only you get a notification.

There is lots of post-show chatter on this playlist, and it looks like a bunch of MUD @commands, but they're really just faux-Twitter @'s. FMU MUD!
Avatar 9:49pm

Before I leave this earth, I will implement a MUD in the playlist comments.

They'll reply to your comments because your comments will happen next Wednesday.
