Hey Rich and Kay!

DCE: Hope your daughter doesn't turn out to be a serial killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
DCE:

naw, she's probably going to be a serial dresser though...likes to change clothes every hour.

The Holy Modal Rounders meet the Residents, maybe?

we're having an office potluck today and nobody even tried my chickpea curry. Guess I'll be eating it all week then bwaahaahaa!

Definitely heard some of this before; either from this cassette or the other issue(s) you mentioned. Great to hear all this.

@ Turnip: About half the tracks on this tape are also on their vinyl releases.
Avatar 🥁 12:27pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Aye, Tony -- Likely from the vinyl. I jettisoned most of my record collection in 1992, which I still regret like selling my kidneys for three magic beans...... or worse.
Avatar 🥁 12:27pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

...but it's recovering nicely, no small thanks to FMU.

@DCE: no. We're just DSL. I'll have to take 'em one chickpea at a time...

a public service announcement: back up your hard drives or other storage regularly. this is the 2nd time a backup has saved my ass this month alone (the first was when smoke began rising from my work computer on 11/1 and i had to rescue my labors from the external hd). back up frequently and redundantly, including any mp3s!

I wasn't twiddling with the controls just then -- those odd dropouts are just as god intended.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:16pm

if it weren't for odd dropouts, we'd have no "on the road" or apple computer!
Avatar 1:17pm

Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Rich in Washington:

That's what I always tell people: I'm a college dropout, just like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Hitler.
Avatar 1:23pm
Tony Coulter:

Oops: "breast," not "beast."
Avatar 1:25pm
Tony Coulter:

Was Hitler a college dropout, as well as an art school reject? No wonder he had such a chip on his shoulder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Uncle Michael:

I think that guy had a bit of an attitude problem.
Avatar 1:31pm
Tony Coulter:

Too bad Doctor Phil couldn't have staged an intervention.
Avatar 1:36pm
Carmichael:

As an English major, I always appreciate the William Congreve quotation.

And I think Bugs Bunny used "beast" instead of "breast" when referring to the Tasmanian Devil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Uncle Michael:

I live to soothe breasts.
Avatar 1:39pm
Tony Coulter:

You savage!
Avatar 1:44pm
Tony Coulter:

I guess maybe what makes Les Objets Insolites a "group" is that they are all using the same set of instruments (the "Objets").
Avatar 1:47pm
Chris from DC:

Oh, a Moondog cover, nice.
Avatar 1:51pm
Tony Coulter:

Aha! Right you are! Didn't realize, actually.
Avatar 1:54pm
Chris from DC:

Been on kind of a Moondog kick lately.
Avatar 1:56pm

I've always liked the Big Brother cover of "All Is Loneliness" (on the first LP).

finally caught tape hiss! awesome tony
Avatar 2:02pm
Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Question Mark!
Avatar 2:07pm
northguineahills:

Le Tombeau is new to me, awesome!
Avatar 2:10pm
Tony Coulter:

They had three albums, but all were cassette-only -- which pretty much meant instant obscurity, unfortunately.
Avatar 2:10pm
Chris from DC:

Someone should really reissue this, but you probably get that a lot.
Avatar 2:12pm
Tony Coulter:

Maybe Vinyl-on-Demand will one of these days -- would fit with his other reissues.
Avatar 2:24pm
Tony Coulter:

As I said, all of side B (on now) is live.
  2:25pm
?:

Le Tombeau is great! Where to begin with Vinyl On Demand?? Has he released anything along these lines?
Avatar 2:30pm
Tony Coulter:

The new Los Paranos is really good. And the Insane Music Box is great. Also, the M Squared box is fab. His box sets are expensive, though.
Avatar 2:31pm
Tony Coulter:

None of those are that much like Le Tombeau -- but they are really good.
  2:35pm
?:

Oh wow, I am familiar with some Neffe material, mainly through your show! I love that material and also MAL (I realize now this is a VOD re-issue!). Thanks for the tips Tony!
-devoted listener Questionmark
Avatar 2:37pm
Tony Coulter:

Oh yeah, the MAL is great too! Neffe released this Le Tombeau, by the way.
Avatar 2:42pm
Tony Coulter:

Don't actually have the MAL VOD box -- I've got the EE Tapes CD reissues, but I believe there's a lot of overlap.
Avatar 2:44pm
Tony Coulter:

Moondogging again!
  2:47pm
?:

There is some overlap in the MAL material - which is great - a few of the more interesting tracks you played on the MAL show are not on the vinyl re-issue
Avatar 2:53pm
northguineahills:

Man, awesome digs, Tony, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Uncle Michael:

Thanks Tony.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:54pm

thanks for the mighty tape hiss, tony!
Avatar 2:55pm

Finishing a bit early today, because I don't have any two-minute cassette albums.
Avatar 3:15pm

Thanks for tuning in, everybody! See you next week.
