Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from January 3, 2014 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar 12:22pm
still b/p:

Alice proudly recounts (boasts) that his eye make-up was a reference for Alex's eye style in A Clockwork Orange. Well, fair enough, but there's a difference, maybe, between someone with the film coming up with it as an off the cuff example of what they want to go for, and being a vital influence in a movie's aesthetic and therefore being tres important in wider culture. Alice wants it to be the latter. Guess I'm Scroogey for wanting to say, "Dial it down a little, bro."

I don't like reading author bios too much. It often influences my reading of their literary output too much. I remember reading Kafka's bio (I don't remember which one) and it gave me an entirely different viewpoint of his work, which I wasn't ready for at the time.
