"Not so sure it's a radio thing."
  1:18pm
Wisconsin:

First time I've heard LA Woman covered rockabilly style.
Avatar 1:18pm
Joe B:

Yes! The highlight of SXSW! and Tom LaVelle wasn't even there!
Avatar 1:18pm
Joe B:

wasn't this guy a Giants relief pitcher in the 1970s?
  1:19pm
Sissphonic Cheryl:

Been waiting for this one! Justifies the existence of this song! Tom LaVelle!
  1:19pm
Sissphonic Cheryl:

That's what I heard, Joe B!
Avatar 1:19pm
Juke Joint Jonny:

Who's going to put together a Boogie-Woogie Hits of the '70s?
  1:20pm
Sissphonic Cheryl:

Get right on it, Juke Joint Jonny!
  1:27pm
Prague Patrick:

It's not every day that someone name drops Gary Lavelle. I remember him looking kind of like Mothman, but wearing SF Giants orange!

Joe B:

wow great version, did not know this

Patrick, yeah it was those tinted glasses!

You provided the soundtrack of my teen years with your comps in the 90s and you're still opening my ears to the honking screaming rocking sounds! So I just wanted to say thanks Todd. And I still love your single with the coctails.

Gaylord Fields:

...and that's why that man is known as rich!

Happy Birthday Muddy Waters!

great show Todd! love that Jackie & The Starlites track!

Muddy's birthday was yesterday 4/4. He shared it with my brother and Gil Hodges, among others.

Wisconsin:

Led Zeppelin in a com set?
  2:12pm
Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

Yes, short for "vomit." And also the band Vom.
  2:12pm
Wisconsin:

That's vom
Avatar 2:12pm
drewo:

The Hound sometimes had a sidekick in the studio, and their on-air repartee was a sort of a precursor to the Jonesey/Burns schtick.
  2:13pm
Wisconsin:

Is that Ian Stewart on piano?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Gaylord Fields:

I wonder if Gil Hodges ever would have pulled Muddy Waters off the stage for half-assing a version of "Hoochic Coochie Man."
  2:16pm
Joe McG:

I always thought that "vom" came from that Stooges song (I can't remember which one) where Iggy said "C'mon, guys, vom!" Sort of "volume" as a verb. But maybe I'm making that up.
  2:17pm
Wisconsin:

The cool Fleetwood Mac lineup. No Stevie or Lindsay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
mariano:

The Who has a great version of Leaving Here on their first album, I think it is, or is it Odds & Sods?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Guido from Cologne:

Rather Odd & Sods.
The Morlocks made a good version in the 80ies.
I wonder if I ever heard the original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Gaylord Fields:

Thanks for the shout-out, Todd, as well as for this all-Brit Hound-tribute Vom Set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
mariano:

Hey, Guido! Thanks for clearing that up. Just read that it was also Motorhead's debut single, once again I'm astounded by how little I know!
Avatar 2:30pm
Joe non Papa:

The Hound's show was before I became a regular listener, but I thank his blog for turning me on to "The Friends of Eddie Coyle".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
mariano:

Oh man, Eddie Coyle is some prime Robert Mitchum bad-assery! That scene at the beginning where he's in the diner with the younger guy, describing how to break someone's wrists is one of my favorites.
  2:33pm
Peanut:

this is some good music for a windy saturday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
Guido from Cologne:

Hi Mariano!
Everyone has some news for someone, such as that about Motörhead's debut (didn't know). One of the many reasons that make the WFMU-boards nice places to stay.
  2:37pm
Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

No, "Leaving Here" is not on ODDS N SODS. That Who album was so poor I had to chuck it.
Avatar 2:42pm
Joe B:

Leaving Here was on the CD reissue of odds and sods, not on the original LP
Avatar 2:44pm
Joe non Papa:

"She is my Love" sounded like a doped up version of "She's About a Mover."
  2:49pm
Sissphonic Cheryl:

Thanks for the Vom(it) set!
Avatar 2:50pm

lultz, Todd!
