Happy Star Wars Day to those of you with me where it's still May 4. And happy Revenge of the Fifth to those of you who live in the future.

@ BGZ: May the Fourth be with you

Hellow Therese , Hellow Kiddles ! ,,, cinco de mayo !
Avatar 12:11am
Holly in NC:

@BGZ - I was going to cleverly respond "May the 4th be with you" - & then realized WHY yesterday is designated as Star Wars day. Oof. Color me slow on the uptake!
Avatar 12:19am
Holly in NC:

Wedding Present = another classic song.
Avatar 12:24am

This Sally Crewe track reminds me of Juliana Hatfield a little bit.

BGZ- Yes, I can hear that too.

Jolly good evening to you, Therese

I was part of the army of women livetweeting Flowers In The Attic on Lifetime
Avatar 12:38am
Therese:

No, Billy Jam! These are ACTUAL SKUNKS!
Avatar 12:40am
Therese:

Snortley- based on a cursory image search, they may be linden trees
Avatar 12:40am
Therese:

Callieflower- the film version of Flowers in the Attic was made for Lifetime before Lifetime existed.
Avatar 12:44am
Callieflower:

True, but it didn't feature Sally Draper!
Avatar 12:44am
BadGuyZero:

Did you see the Lifetime-made "Flowers in the Attic" that aired a few months ago?
Avatar 12:46am
Billy Jam:

love every selection Therese - perfect!
Avatar 12:46am
BadGuyZero:

I missed it because it was on at the same time as some awards show I was live-tweeting; I think it was the Grammy Awards.
Avatar 12:47am
Therese:

Wait, whuuttttttt?!?! How did I miss this? Sally Draper played Cathy, I presume?
Avatar 12:48am
Callieflower:

Yep! Ellen Burstyn and Heather Graham were also in it
Avatar 12:51am
BadGuyZero:

There was also a Lizzie Borden made-for-Lifetime movie that aired around the same time that featured Christina Ricci as Lizzie.
Avatar 12:51am
Therese:

Wow. My tween self is demanding that I seek this out immediately.
Avatar 12:53am
Callieflower:

It was not good, but it was fun to watch with other women

Christina Ricci must have been a great Lizzie Borden. She was a great small-town explosives- obsessive kid in some minor movie I once saw

Sometimes when deciding which hotel I'm going to stay at it comes down to which one has Lifetime Movie Network. LMN is the best for having on as background noise while working. Several years ago I saw a movie on there that starred Alia Shawkat as a teenager who was kicked out of school for supposedly being a witch. Illeana Douglas played her mom.
  1:01am
P-90:

BGZ: That one sounds like fun.
Avatar 1:05am
Holly in NC:

Christina Ricci's onscreen growth from adorable little Mermaid girl to preternaturally developed and very messed up pubescent in Ice Storm & Buffalo '66 freaked me out.
Mermaids is one of my few "chick flicks" :)
  1:07am
P-90:

@ BGZ: Actually, I'd like to see Shawkat and Douglas play real mother-and-daughter witches

@ Holly in NC: Have you seen Christina Ricci in The Opposite of Sex?

Sandra Dee, James Urbaniak and Brian Keith are from Bayonne.

Wow, also Ira Robbins (Trouser Press) on efd's show Wednesday & my twitter biddy Hallock Hill on Dan's show tomorrow night.

Morgan Delt is great, Therese :-)
  1:21am
P-90:

@ BGZ: Ohhhh.... Its one of those true stories, they play a Native American mother and daughter...apparently the school freaked because it was shortly after Columbine, and the girl wrote "Goth stories." And even with the ACLU on their side, they got shafted in court. That IS a horror story. Tanks for the link, I''ll see if Netflix has it.

@ Holly: It's a somewhat forgettable '90s "Indie Classic" that's nevertheless worth seeing, and a must for "preternaturally pubescent" Christina Ricci completists

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am
Ken From Hyde Park:

How does it compare with "Flowers for Algernon"?
  1:37am
P-90:

@ Holly: I completely forgot that Trouser Press maintains an active website, thanks for the reminder. The mag was the COOLest thing going in the late 70's - early 80's, THE bible of the New Wave days. They did lots of cool things, I remember they were absolutely the first to suggest that The Monkees were worth a serious reappraisal.
Avatar 1:37am
Matt from Springfield:

@Ken HP: Those all are great stories, but they're planets apart in terms of subject matter, no real comparison between them.
Avatar 1:39am

@Ken I almost started weeping just thinking about Flowers for Algernon. Oh man.. I need a Kleenex.

"Shrimp, crabmeat and oysters can be substituted for crawfish." I suppose then it would be shrimp/crab/oyster Monica; a culinary noun, much like __ Oscar, __ Florentine, or any other style with a choice of protein.
