Irwin, I think WFMU is missing an opportunity. Think of the benefit to humanity without the recombinant algorithm. Maybe you all could finally find a cure for Ken.... I know its a long shot anything is possible with free form radio.

Irwin -I fear I may be mistaking it for a different piece. I remember that Charlie used another sort of vibrating piece (with periodic squeals of "Oh yeah!"), and I thought this was the same piece. I'm only devoting half a mind to the program today, so excuse my mistake.

Hypothetically, communism could lead to a fair society; and yes, the care of the individual is neglected for the care of the community (ideally, what's good for the community must be good for the individual)... However, I don't think we can point to any communist society in history ever having succeeded in providing a fair society. People will be people and any power given to any one individual will corrupt them. Therefore, I am correcting the young lady's sign to say, I want full democracy (a socialist state, where each citizen has a say in how the government functions). It would lead to an extremely inefficient, but fair, society. Closest examples are a few of the European countries...

I'd prefer an anarcho-syndicalist commune. Where we take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting.

PERSON at least in/under law IS a corporation.
We living breathing souls are either MEN or WOMEN, NOT persons.
Unless of course you want to contract with other "persons" and receive bills from them, than you must assume the role of "person".

Irwin:

She feels vibrations. She has never heard audience applause. Also reads lips.
Avatar 5:17pm
Carmichael:

That's some heavy-ass shit, Irwin. I'll have to sit in the carpet and think.
  5:18pm
Laura L:

That's astonishing! Exactly what I was going to ask--is it a vibratory sense. Have been in a room with deaf folks--they raise their hands and wave them for applause--it's amazing to see.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm

rental cost for Evelyn Glennie's percussion is $475 plus tax for the day....bring your own stones, though. Add $200 roundtrip if you need it delivered.

Glennie contends that deafness is largely misunderstood by the public. She claims to have taught herself to hear with parts of her body other than her ears. -- Wikipedia

I know holding the instrument is very different from standing inches away from it and listening. I think we underestimate how large a part of sound is touch.
  5:25pm
P-90:

@ Mike East: I think you've mentioned that before, you work for an SIR-type musical supply house?

@ Droll: Yeah! if you've spent time around "deaf" people, you learn fast that they "hear" a lot
  5:25pm
Alison Porchnik:

I really like this tune
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm

yeah, small version of SIR. We have more percussion though...lotta orchestras and broadway pits come here. SIR gets all the "cool" clients.

After using the WFMU teleportation chamber (i.e. the archives) to listen to this program, I can confirm that I have never used that talkover music. (Sorry, Parq.)
Avatar 3:51am
Droll:

Howdy Irwin! I took the new teleporter here, to the past. It's great. The opening set was great. Everything's great. Hope you're great.

The Three Little Bops was cool. That's jazz-speak for great, as you well know. The line "I wish my brother George was here" is the title of a Del Tha Funky Homosapien album. Any connection?

I have a 15" platter from an old disk pack. Random access to all the music on that side of the album, indeed!

DEAD! I did my trippy crowd-swimming dance.

Damn fine show, as usual. Have a fun week.
