I am sold on Sony's MDR-7056 and MDR-V6. I wear headphones nearly five or more hours a day. Really good sound, to my ears, too.

Thanks for the tip, Rich!

hi there, gary - wonderful topic. since it's quite late here in good ole europe, i might listen a bit, but then have to go to bed! i'm curious if you play some of my favorite female post punk bands - and hey, here they are, liliput!!! great.

the former model is somewhat spendier than its cheaper counterpart but both sound nearly identical to my ears. I prowl B&H's used section regularly for discounted gear.

Yeah... Rich is on point.

I've been using the same pair of Sony MDR-V6 headphones for years. I'm not really picky about stuff like this, but these things sound great and didn't cost a fortune (from B&H).

...a perennial topic...1st off - ears are not round - so round not comfy unless big enuff to go truly over...I got some Bose that are great - but the cushion part is wearing quickly! - so little black stuff on you as wears off - & leaves hard plastic on yer ear...

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63: RIght on! It's important to distinguish between headphones for enjoying listening to music and those for mixing, etc., where you don't want anything boosted.

...to be fair to the Bose - they're pretty much over-the-ear, but I started wearing them sort-of 1/2-way in a work situation so I could still hear around me - not what they're made for...I got the Bose for nothing, too - which isn't generally gonna happen...I'm wondering if these trendy expensive Beats are pure hype or what (suspect so)...

ah no, this is Dudeh Diwangsih, says madrotter - and it's kliningan not jaipongan. my bad. cheers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Gary:

Kliningan, yes ... and not typical, her voice, from what I've heard
  7:44pm
Lucky (of L. Locus):

james - kliningan and jaipongan are modern pop music forms with folk elements. modern means starting from the 1970's. madrotter.blogspot.com has a lot of tape rips to die for...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm

James, after the show, look up Tonggeret to hear Idjah's most famous song ... on YouTube
  7:50pm

I like Bing Crosby, too, sadly, I guess. Music maybe sometimes could go beyond ideology.
  7:51pm
Lucky (of L. Locus):

gary - you make it impossible to switch off, damn... ;)
,
wow, that thai tune sure rocks. nice global stuff
  7:51pm
Jamestsherry:

Also for Johnson a bit of Stocklolm syndrome.
  7:52pm
Lucky (of L. Locus):

tonggeret was issued as compilation in the us by nonesuch - it's her 1970's stuff with gugum gumbira, the inventor of jaipongan. madrotter posted that album on his blog, too.

@Jill B - This is a dog at end of life, what he choses to eat changes on a dime, and I'm not worried about his health 5 years out (more like 5 days) :-(
so:
- ground turkey
- ground lamb
- rice cooked in homemade chix stock & whey, finished with LOTS of italian parsley (confession - parsley on hand only because I thought I was buying organic cilantro at an amazing price for myself, grabbed wrong thing, heh)
- roasted carrots rubbed in coconut oil
- scrambled eggs from hens down the street
- roast chicken from hens NOT down the street!
- roasted sweet potato
- steamed broccoli
- homemade yogurt
- and 2 strips of, er, bacon to crumble and entice if s*it gets real.
-and peanut butter, ditto.

Lucky (of L. Locus):

now look out for that burma music - on bodega!!! :)))

Tucker is a 15 year old good, good, GOOD much loved/adored hound dog. I am honored beyond all reason that his human parents trust me enough to care for him while they attend to an unavoidable commitment out of country. In fact, I have dog equivalent of health care power of attorney, which I am desperately trying not to use. But the minute he seems more unhappy than not...his humans absolutely on same page.

And right now he just put his head on my knee, grinned, wagged his tail, and emitted a burst of WORST DOG BREATH EVER ;-)
