...'Another Green World' was - for whatever reason - a CD my copy of which was always beat up
- do you have albums like that ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am

Well, I've had several copies of Raw Power; after a while, I think they started pressing them on the same stuff that Halloween wax lips are made of.

...oh - CDRs...rejected by various players - got some that just...peeled...
- always think that back in the day - w/ crap little record players - I could just look @ an LP & tell which ones the tone arm would just skate on (too much Bass - too long on one side / mastered badly); still lovin' BlackSabbath digitally for this reason...

There was this thing called a "PVC shortage" around '73 or '74. RCA records were notorious. If you get an original edition of Lou Reed's Rock And Roll Animal, it flops around like a worn out stuffed animal.

@PSS 12:36: I considered that, though I think Mr. A is the type to BOAST on air about leaving that pizza and box, but too high-strung to do it himself. (Being nervous about messing up the board in front of Scott Williams, for example).

I would think the station policy would be to prohibit food from the record library in the first place. Who wants pizza grease or crumbs in the Jandek records?
Avatar 12:42am
Matt from Springfield:

@KP: Perhaps Bryce (Prefontaine) found his way in the library and passed out: "Ohhh mannnnnnn...where am I? And who took away my pizza box? I was gonna make a high-quality snuff box out of that!"...

What probably happened is, the cleaning gnomes got too full.
A personal pan pizza or microwave-size pizza is probably just enough for a few gnomes to snack on. Some Hot Pockets would work, too.

I thought about making a a podcast of English-singing singers, singing in German, but did not follow through. It was a thing, for a while, in the '60s.
Avatar 1:51am
Matt from Springfield:

Plenty of Euro-language covers of English singers in the 60s. Also the other way around, but those are so numerous as to have no real theme linking them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am

In the Sixties, (Little) Peggy March had what essentially a parallel career singing in German for that market.

Peter Gabriel recorded German-language versions of a couple of his solo records. David Lee Roth recorded a Spanish-language version of "Eat 'Em & Smile." Johnny Cash also recorded Spanish versions of some of his songs.

Hi Therese! ...and all the Sunday night (ir)regulars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13am
Gaylord Fields:

Actually, with Peggy March, it was diffeent from the days when she recorded "I Will Follow Him" (itself an anglicized version of Petula Clark's French hit "Chariot") in German, Italian, Japanese, etc. Rather, she recorded original German-language songs with German producers as if she was a native pop star.

What BGZ said!

Therese's voice is a comfort to all our ears! And her presence on mic a comfort in general!
  2:23am
P-90:

I know that "Queen/Rainbow" sounds SO good because ace Roy Thomas Baker engineered the original recordings, I'm not sure but I assume he probably also did the new mix; so it's a marriage of state-of-the-art '70s analog magic on one end, and up-to the-minute-digital control on the other, all done by the same guy. Kind of a Rock n Roll time warp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am
