Good morning Bill and all.

@Andy it has been the talk of the Drones Club all week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am

Bill - if you are not back in June I will personally hire Peter Hammill to sing under the station manager's bedroom window every night for a year! Seriously a bad and sad choice - let us know how we can continue to snack 'n' Mac for 8 months Bill!

Will do Bill - I think I'll still OK the Pete Hammill thing - a CD of covers - Styx, REO, Angel,Foreigner etc and maybe also a Kenny G plays Brotzmann if I have any funds left? I've checked and it is barely in line with the Geneva Convention
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am

hmmm addle minded and groggy most of the time. Apologies for lateness but should I infer from the previous comments. Bill, that you are coming off air? Oh dear. Our Saturday morns will be listless without you. This is crap news

@Brian - make her read the Drones Club story "Good Bye To All Cats". That should straighten her out.
Avatar 4:09am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - you're just nailing it today. Are you trying to make us feel extra bad about all this? I have to say this show IS Saturday morning. You really have to get the time slot back, you have the best gang around the comments board.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11am

Brian - are you getting to see Steve Gunn then? I'm catching him in a pub venue in York tomorrow.

You guys hear what Andy said? I heartily concur!

Andy, I think Wodehouse and Under Milk Wood had an influence on Vivian Stanshalls writing.

Avatar 4:20am
Looms:

Thanks Andy, will check it out. The piece was gorgeous.
Avatar 4:20am
Bill Mac:

@Looms - Forgot we had this CD. Here's the Wiki on it:
Za Bakdaz : The Unfinished Opera is a collection of songs German countertenor Klaus Nomi was working on up until his death in 1983 from AIDS, a disease poorly understood at that time.[3] The album was released posthumously in 2007. The large majority of the tracks have never before been heard on an official studio release. Some of those involved with the project hint that the album was nowhere near completed at the time of Klaus' passing
Avatar 4:21am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Jay - music-wise, sure. But I have to say it would be lacking all of us, which for me is a big part of the experience. THIS is social media, man! :)

There's a whole lot of lot of concurring going on. Add me to the list.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23am

@Sem I read that as Absinthe. Phew

Andy they used his original 1954 recording with a comtemporary cast. 'To begin at the begining' Cannot get enough of Milk Wood. It is so rich and juicy. A play for voices.

Andy I saw the play at a local rep when I was at skool. Only ever want to HEAR it by the very nature of the description. Peter Blake of Sgt

@ Brian - I actually saw that in the movies. At the Fillmore East! And they gave out Yellow Submarine buttons to everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am
Sem Chumbo:

Well, I gotta say being late to the Zzzzzero Hour coven/cult/clan/tribe, Bill's imminent departure means I will still get up at this ungodly hour and listen to the ZH archives, drink strong French roast and peruse the obits. You know, the usual, until Bill goes live again.
Avatar 4:35am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Brian - I remember the first time I heard the Beatles' You Know My Name, I just assumed it was the Bonzos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am

Andy ofcourse. HDN just been reissued I believe.

@Andy I'll bet that was the idear....
Avatar 4:37am

@ Bill - well obviously they were Bonzo fans. They were also big Goon Show fans. Interestingly enough there was a weekly broadcast of the Goons on WBUR when I was going to school in Boston. They used The Intro And The Outro as the theme music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40am

@ Bill - there is a live NOMI cd that I made up from the movie, and I gave Su Braun a copy when I was on her show years ago. With luck she put it in the library. Take a look.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am
Brian in UK:

Still no Monica show.
Avatar 4:49am
Bill Mac:

I hope I didn't come off as too uppity to like Twisted Sister. I DO think it's an interesting topic and a great jumping off point to provide some insight into the underground metal scene that was pervasive on the East Coast circa the 80s. I never participated but those clubs were all over the place back then.

@ Bill - I was also too uppity to like them back then. An issue that's dealt with in the movie, by the way. I showed the movie to Andy Schwartz who used to be the editor of the NY Rocker who sort of used to look at me cross-eyed when I would talk to him about the movie and then he said it was "An absorbing, even fascinating film that takes as its subject a band I never gave a hoot about. Illuminates a previously unexamined corner of R&R history, the hugely popular NY/NJ suburban cover-band scene of the Seventies." Whodathunkit?!

Andy: forget it, I'll get myself a copy of the Nomi Song. :)

Disculpe, por favor, pero ¿puede alguien decirme donde el nuevo horario WFMU está ocultando?
Avatar 4:54am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Sem - I forgot to mention that the name of the movie is "We Are Twisted Fucking Sister!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56am
Fran:

If I was raging about the timetable I might question if WFMU stood for Which Fool Messed Up! But I am calm......
Avatar 4:56am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Fran - I think that fool's name is Ken. :)
Avatar 4:57am
Bill Mac:

@Sem It should be in the 2nd paragraph on the main page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58am
Fran:

Great name Andy! I can't imagine a Supertramp film being similarly titled...well there might be f words in the reviews

I love the Tubes - even now they churn out a good show and Prairie Prince is Todd Rundgren's drummer of choice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am
Brian in UK:

I love the idea of someone naming themselves after a docket. Fee Waybill.
Roll on. Roll off!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17am

Their Wild West Show DVD and CD of a few years back is great - saw them in Liverpool on that tour - Mondo Bondage with the Bonham Rock and Roll intro - yeh!
