Dean:

I'm a sucker for "traditional" Christmas music. It's what redeems the frigging holiday. I'm talking medieval and Renaissance shit, none of this Bing Crosby bologna. Try Sequentia's "Plebs domini" from their Acquitania album. Turn out the lights, sip your Bourbon, and take it in. It made a believer (in something or another) of me.

Don't worry, the xmas content can drop at any time... Scott: there is no solace in the unknown, you have instilling fear of the holy spirit in those of us with allergic reactions to such things.

A believer, but not a good speller: Aquitania.
  4:01pm
βrian:

Haven't heard Sequentia in years, but I loved their work. Also, nearly anything by the Tallis Scholars. I've seen them three times now.
  4:05pm
Dean:

I've heard Tallis Scholars live only once. It's cliche to say, but their tone is ethereal. I've heard Sequentia maybe half a dozen times, including their early performance of Ordo Virtutum in Southern California. Better, I've read much of the work of Peter Dronke, whose studies of medieval poetry inspire so much of Sequentia's work.
