I think I get it--if you put multiple cats into the cat litter, they will clump together...like peanut butter and chocolate chips clump together in a food bar.

along the lines of Irwin's main RAP today.....i quote beat poet Bob Kaufman

WAITING
(c) Bob Kaufman, 1967 all poems are from GOLDEN SARDINE,
City Lights Books, 1969

SOMEWHERE THERE WAITS, WAITING
A BOOK IS WAITING, WAITING,
TO BE WRITTEN.
COLD COLD PAGES, WAITING,
TO BE WRITTEN,
MAN SEEKS GOD,
IN A BOOK.

SOMEWHERE THERE WAITS, WAITING
A PICTURE WAITS, WAITING,
WAITING TO BE PAINTED.
COLD COLD CANVAS, CANVAS.
WAITING TO BE PAINTED.
MAN SEEKS GOD IN A PICTURE.

SOMEWHERE THERE WAITS. WAITING,
A WOMAN WAITING, WAITING,
COLD COLD WOMAN,
WAITING TO BE LOVED,
MAN SEEKS GOD IN A WOMAN.

SOMEWHERE THERE WAITS, WAITING
A MAN IS WAITING, WAITING,
COLD COLD MAN, WAITING,
TO BE WANTED, WAITING.
MAN SEEKS GOD
IN MAN

SOMEWHERE THERE WAITS, WAITING
A BABY IS WAITING, WAITING.
WAITING, WAITING TO BE BORN,
COLD COLD BABY, WAITING,
TO BE BORN, BLOOD OF EARTH,
WAITING TO BE.
MAN SEEKS GOD,
IN A BABY.

WIND, SEA,
SKY, STARS,
SURROND

Irwin, you consistently delight me with perhaps the most interesting, eclectic show, week in and week out, on WFMU. A station with a lot of great shows. The way you put a set of music together is masterful. Thank you.

Thank you, Mark. There's a lot of competition on this station for Imam of Eclecticism, or Vicar of Variety.

Ern:

wittle bwues man is sad about it
  5:12pm
Mark:

Yes there is, you consistently play the most music I like, though. That Miles album was one I was very late in discovering--it's become one of my favorites. There's youtube footage of him recording it, too--literally in a darkened room with the film playing, with some French guys he never met before. One day. Done.

Avatar 5:19pm

RRN63: Yes, what I've heard of it; still catching up. Clark's singing voice was special. I got to meet him once at a Byrds "Tribute".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm
Irwin:

Clark and Hillman were the soul of the Byrds. McGuinn and Crosby were the rock stars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm

The Byrds w/o Clark were like XTC without Barry Andrews. Good, but a different band.

I almost agree with Irwin. Though I think McGuinn and Crosby had soul too, sort of.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm

hello Irwin
hello all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- wull - GeneClark was the primary writer - it's not just his voice. & there's the thing Ray Davies said about Pete Quaife the bassist leaving The Kinks: if not the original people - it's different...Crosby has long said he'd like to do The Byrds some more - but McGuinn's had his fill...

Avatar 5:50pm

RRN63: I didn't know Clark was the primary writer. I feel they still did some great work later, after Clark left. But I understand your point about original groups. Too bad the Byrd survivors won't play!
