Heya, V Priceless, Glenn, and Listener James!

My camera and wife will come back to me soon enough. Probably acting like I don't know what they were up to.

Seen on the streets of NYC. Woman, 30ish, dragging a camera along the sidewalk as she walks. She made sure not to miss any puddle or snow-clump along the way. At the end of the block, she stopped in front of a luxury apt buidling, stomped on the camera a couple of times, and strode inside -- the concierge didn't even look up, so obviously she's well known there. Not hard to guess who owned the camera or what pictures were on it.

Funny thing about coffee, for me at least: I'm a fairly heavy coffee drinker, usually about 4 cups a day. As soon as I get sick at all, however, even a mild cold, I simply cannot drink the stuff. Just seems totally unpleasant. I've had a cold since last Wednesday, so immediately went on the coffee bandwagon. Today I had my first cup in almost a week -- so, obviously, I must be almost all better.

Funny, I guess, because caffeine is definitely addictive -- but also very easy to kick.
Avatar 12:19pm
Cecile:

hopefully both your wife and the camera will be back soon.
Avatar 12:20pm
Cecile:

if you kick caffeine as a result of being sick or something, it's easy to kick. But if you make a point of it, it's pretty hard, IME
Avatar 12:20pm
northguineahills:

I can't drink coffee any more. The only time I do is when I'm really tired, and need a caffeine boost. But, all it does is barely keep me awake, and doesn't help me focus. Then I feel like shit the rest of the day and the coffee tries to race through my intestines as fast as possible. I probably killed my ability to drink coffee in grad school, when I was drinking close to two pots of coffee a day.

glenn:

4 cups? hell, i have that by 7 ack emma.

listener james from westwood:

I was a 3 Diet Coke/day caffeinator but had to cut out owing to neuro/cardiac symptoms. Tapering made quitting easier. Now I only dose if I need to survive a long ride home or on very rare work all-nighters. Potent little molecule.
Avatar 12:25pm
Cecile:

I have cut down a lot, but I drink 3-4 cups or espresso shots a day
  12:25pm
Dean:

Caffeine is not addictive. Hell, I've been drinking it for over 30 years, and I'm still not addicted to it!

French foundations have no need of our silly Anglo-Saxon 'u.'
Avatar 1:10pm
Tony Coulter:

French organizations are fonded, not founded.
Avatar 1:11pm
glenn:

fonds.
In archival science, a fonds is the aggregation of documents that originate from the same source.[1] More specifically, a fonds distinguishes itself from a collection through its organic nature, as archival documents that have been naturally accumulated (made or received) by an individual, company, institution, etc. as a byproduct of business or day-to-day activities
