How do, Tony and all! Put me down for wonton soup and a brace of eggrolls.

Hey there, Tony!

Tony Coulter:

Someone should gather every mention of food in the listener comments, going years back. Then (FMU's) Kenny G should collect them in a book, and read the book out loud at the White House.

Great, now I'm hungry. Hi Tony and pork bao lovers everywhere.

Tony Coulter:

FMU's Clay Caplice (of The Pounding System fame) has a release on the same label this Paul Healy is on. It's a duo with the great Rik Rue.

Tony Coulter:

Greets, Carmichael!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
listener james from westwood:

Funny you mention Clay, I was listening to an archive of his early-early this a.m. (1/27/04!). Love that show.
Avatar 12:09pm
Tony Coulter:

This Paul Healy cassette isn't on Discogs -- which means it doesn't exist.
Avatar 12:14pm
Carmichael:

But I did find plenty on Rik Rue, who I think is a compatriot.
Avatar 12:17pm
Tony Coulter:

He is. Rik Rue founded the Pedestrian Tapes label, btw.
Avatar 12:19pm
Tony Coulter:

Rik Rue is in the excellent Mind/Body/Split -- who I think I played on my very first FMU show, if memory serves.

Back from a much needed holiday. My brother took me to his wedding in Mexico and then let me chill at his pad in Orlando for three weeks. I feel much, much better.

I will be really impressed if anyone can recognize the LP underneath today's cassettes. Thing is, it's upside down.
Avatar 12:24pm
northguineahills:

Yeah, I feel like I can focus again, and not be overwhelmed.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
listener james from westwood:

That feeling of the weight being off the chest and finally filling one's lungs completely. Good on ya.
  12:25pm
Dean:

That's a 12x12 LP gatefold cover, opened, upside down? Those cassettes are huge!
Avatar 12:26pm
Tony Coulter:

Ha! OK, OK -- it's just the top of the LP.

(Heya, Dean!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Doug Schulkind:

Liking liking liking!
  12:28pm
Dean:

Can we play 20 Questions? Okay, I'll start. Is the LP from a US band/musician?
Avatar 12:28pm
Tony Coulter:

The upside-down partial LP is this: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 12:29pm
Tony Coulter:

Paul Healy is best known as one-half of Somatic Responses, who I have not heard. Anyone know 'em? www.discogs.com...
Avatar 12:31pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Gave the answer away before I knew we were playing. Of course, you can not look at the link and try to figure it out anyway. Yes, a US band.
  12:32pm
Dean:

Well, well. It's a Posh Boy record! When I was working a record store in LA County, Robbie Fields brought his fledgling F-Word to the store. Here's Rik L Rik at the store: http://poshboy.com/Graphics/01rik.jpg Flanking him, X-8 or Flipside and Jayme, a high school friend and band mate of mine.
  12:32pm

Slip me a fiver, and I'll fix the typo right in your preceding comment.

Dean:

Got the five, folded up. Putting it in the DVD-RW drive. Should arrive shortly.
Avatar 12:46pm
Tony Coulter:

Despite the fact that the cover reads "Film Musik," the title of this Nubla cassette is "Filmusik" (one 'm') -- I swear it!
Avatar 12:54pm
Tony Coulter:

As I mentioned, Nubla is in Macromassa (www.discogs.com... ) and Naif (www.discogs.com... ), two of the very best Spanish experimental / whatever groups.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Mike East:

If you play the main stream and GTDS at the same time right now, it sounds pretty great
  12:56pm
Dean:

The Nubla cover has a not-so-hidden tribute to FMU.

So, I'm sort of implicated in the existence of this Costes/Yximalloo cassette. Yximalloo was a house guest of mine for a few days around 1993 or 1994, and I played him Costes, whom he had never heard of, while he was staying with me. The rest is history.

Avatar 2:21pm

Have Costes and Yximalloo driven everyone away?

i'm here, Tony!
  2:26pm
Mark Williams:

did you order the latest Bene Gesserit from EE Tapes, Tony? Can't believe what a bottomless well of "unreleased tracks" they have.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
JtotheK:

is wondering why /his/ house guests never collaborate with musicians on records he plays for them...
Avatar 2:29pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya Mark! I did indeed order that Record Store Day BG EP! Alain Neffe is truly a bottomless well, on par with R. Stevie Moore or Sun Ra.
Avatar 2:33pm
Tony Coulter:

... when you add up the output of all his different projects, I mean.
Avatar 2:36pm

OK, all of comments keep on getting eaten. I believe Yximalloo is on a Free103point9 comp.

Oh, I should announce (and will): Jesse is on the streamwaves from 4:00 to 7:00 today, broadcasting live from the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Doug's show will air from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Special, not-to-miss goings-on indeed!!

But where did you get it?
  8:02pm
yximalloo:

Thank you!!!

BTW where did you get it?

I put the only one left copy on Ebay UK.
