Ahoy-hoy to you

Hi all!

G'day, Amanda and all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
listener james from westwood:

Sad that I just read the next to the next to the last Mad Style post.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Hoboken Jack:

I see that Traffic's Mr. Fantasy has been promoted to Captain. Congrats, sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Amanda:

Soooo sad about Mad Mood too! @Jack I just hope the family success affects their cousin Crazy Fantasy on 6th Avenue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I heard they renewed The Simpsons for two more years. It still leaves them ten episodes short of Gunsmoke, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Amanda:

I'm still waiting for the episode where Marge becomes a robot, promised to us in that song...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
listener james from westwood:

Has Moe gotten that cellphone yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
efd:

you are correct! (about the owner of the Ween CD and the benefits of being Record Fair neighbors!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Hoboken Jack:

Pretty solid Little Richard contribution to the "Down & Out" soundtrack.
Avatar 12:38pm
ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@ndbob - Look out for today's oil train fire in Heimdal, near Devils Lake.
Avatar 12:41pm
ndbob:

@ken will check
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Amanda:

@efd Funnest recfair yet!

@Jack, thanks for mentioning that! Yes, Little Richard also starred in the movie and played piano in the climactic scene (entire cocktail party jumping into pool).

I think my mom got the Down
Avatar 12:46pm
glenn:

this is pretty good, but red brained woman is jaw droppingly awesome.
  12:48pm
MONEYBAG$:

was I just edited for mentioning Columbia house?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Amanda:

@MONEYBAG$ I didn't edit you! Maybe a small system glitch. It's best not to mention CH anyway so you dodged a bullet.

@glenn I know. Thought people might like to hear the other side though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@MONEYBAG$ - Did you use the "&" symbol? I think that messes things up for commenters who aren't logged in.
  12:53pm
MONEYBAG$:

Ken, I think you are correct. I just use the app to comment, but oddly enough the whole thing was there at first, then 2/3 disappeared.

Brian in UK:

Hello Amanda, I took Spencer out today, it is so windy I think he is going to take off with his ears flapping like Dumbo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Amanda:

So sorry Spencer, but at least the image is adorable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Stevel:

Sunny and warm outside. Still, no excuse for missing the first hour. Such penance I will pay!
  1:06pm
sugarwolf:

Moneybags, I've had comments made on the app get cut off, and the others are right, it is the naughty ampersand!

At work today, so only furtive listening today...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Brian in UK:

Mike Nesmith always sang Thee for The. Which ofcourse is correct.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
listener james from westwood:

It is this sort of needle experimentation that marks the truly great DJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Stevel:

"Lips like strawberry pie." That sounds a bit disturbing, but I DO like strawberries.

great work selecter amanda
the monkee related content
makes me happy that i already
have my tix to the boyce+hart doc
upcoming at monty hall
also, does anybody else
remember the palomino club
in north hollywood?
  1:10pm
Dean:

Missed "Animal Woman," but I assume it is not the same tune that Yesterday & Today performed. Pretty sure the Y&T tune was their own, recorded several years later than 1969.
  1:10pm
MONEYBAG$:

dig the grungy sound, it's like I'm listening on an iphone instead of an ipad
  1:11pm
Dean:

I remember the Palomino Club, but not from ever having gone there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Hoboken Jack:

Congrats on your skip-free jam! I was on pins and (replacement) needles.
  1:13pm
SB:

Sometimes I find that playing through a skip on a 45 and holding the tone arm [many times] while doing such sometimes will correct the problem....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
Brian in UK:

@Hoboken Jack wonder what Len Tibbets would say about your 12:11 comment.

nice set here Amanda!

@SB I do that often. Often. (shameful head hanging)

Hackensack Slim:

OY! That brisket ain't sitting right...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
listener james from westwood:

@Slim, I still use that line.
That and "Mmm, classy!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
listener james from westwood:

I think the writers like this song. They use it again for Artie Ziff's modem-squeal-to-music converter. "Hey, com-puter geek, you will have your file in-no-time!"

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm

(...since BBC is state-funded - seems it's an annoying cat & mouse game finding a working stream address Stateside ; loves me some bbc6music, & 4Extra for funny stuff & occasional SciFi...Oh! - is the Now Show - www.bbc.co.uk... - off season currently?...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm

You don't see many of these nowadays, do you?

You too, Kev. Amanda sold me this two-disc set of teen pop for a buck. Made me feel like a kid for a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
Brian in UK:

@rrNov63 I did not realise it was so difficult to pick up the BBC aurally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
KevinfromBayRidge:

Bought a bunch o' stuff at the 50 cent FMU table. Some was a little juvenile ( or maybe senile, in my case!) too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
Amanda:

Yes, I should say thanks for stopping by, Parq and everyone else who did! Was great to hang out at the rf and catch up with various people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@BrianUK: ...may also be my antique Mac doesn't do the BBC iPlayer...but I like everything thru iTunes where I can see it all & use EQ; everybody wants you to use their own Player - so sleuthing the stream address is a thing w/ moi...

another swell show for the record books, happy wednesday!
  1:54pm

The BBC isn't state funded. It's paid for through a 'television licence'. And it may not be for much longer. There was a time I'd have fought for the BBC, now it's become a joke.

excellent show Amanda!

YW RR N63. I spent a looong time trying to save BBC 6M along with a lot of other very good people. We were treated like dirt by many of the management once their jobs were saved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
Brian in UK:

The British Broadcasting Corporation is wonderful in principle unfortunately there are many arseholes working the mealticket. Cannot fault Lord Reith's dictum.
Bit like FMU funded by the people, not if Sky and their ilk have their way.

Great show Amanda.
  1:59pm
that guy:

Another great show Amanda. Thanks.

Thanks, Amanda! Sorry I didn't make it to the Record Fair, will do next year for sure. And when's the Summer Simpsons' Time Meet-Up? Huh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Thx AmNazz !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
Amanda:

Simpsons Club is off for the summer, but I'll be doing another event there in September. You heard it here first! You can cry until then, as Carole King suggested.

Thanks so much for listening today, my friends!!!
