Trying to figure what's shared with Doug's show. Pajamas? Sleeping in the nude?

I was busy during Peter's set, but I look forward to someone who can play that variations of electronica. On WFMU, maybe only Jesse and Lamin touch that genre.

RIP Kyoko & Moebius.

Hi Rev Turnip and everyone I missed! I'm a little underinflated over here if I forgot to say anything for a bit.

Where are you in the US? I'm in upstate NY next month.

Jesse K:

I'm in Boston but the show can travel, let's talk!
Avatar 8:19pm
Ike:

RTD, your avatar reminds me of a Doctor Who monster from 2005, the empty child... great low-budget effect, just put a WWII gas mask on a kid and have him say creepy shit. They even had a bit of a real budget by then, but I like that they kept up the creativity to stretch it.
Avatar 8:19pm
Peter Nelson:

OK. Email later. This could be beautiful!
Avatar 8:20pm
Jesse K:

YES!
Avatar 8:21pm
Ike:

Where in upstate NY? I miss going hiking up there. I haven't gotten out of the city in a while, except for Jersey City and that's almost a 6th borough of NYC.
Avatar 8:21pm
Peter Nelson:

@Ike. What's with the Doctor Who thing? Actually, I remember the one you're talking about. Creepy shit indeed.

Visiting a friend in Cairo.

Just south of Woodstock.
Avatar 8:25pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ike: hell, they didn't need no dang budget… I still see the chinese ventriloquist-dummy (the talons of weng-chiang, tom baker era) everywhere. Perhaps I'm hallucinating AT THIS MOMENT...
Avatar 8:29pm
Ike:

I never really loved that one as much as other Whovians did, RTD, although it's unforgettable for Leela in a wet white shirt after getting attacked by a giant rat in a sewer. Too bad they wrote her out so quickly. Early Tom Baker was fantastic though.
Avatar 8:29pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

ike: for what it's worth, the gas mask dude was a stock image but the embryos/background/lens flare were additives. result: www.flickr.com...

@Peter: My friends at the Wave Farm live in Cairo.
Avatar 8:34pm
Ike:

Hey @Peter, IDK, I've been a fan of that silliness on & off since 1989ish. Bizarre to see its resurrection roar into popularity (despite remaining kind of weird) after being only a thing for weirdos and pariahs (at least here) in the 80s/90s. Nerds are mainstream now. Unthinkable.
Avatar 8:34pm
Peter Nelson:

@northguineahills What's the Wave Farm?
Avatar 8:36pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Digging the crash-course. Huge yay.
Avatar 8:36pm
Peter Nelson:

@Ike Have you seen the latest episodes with Capaldi as the Doctor? Best since Tom Baker, I'd say. ....Pretty weird having a Who discussion here. It's such an iconically British thing.
Avatar 8:39pm
northguineahills:

It's a place w/ recording studios to either record music, sound/art installations, and they broadcast terrestrial radio (small wattage). They used to have experimental music festivals (for maybe 40 people), but even that amount of traffic annoyed the neighbors.

Oh, I agree, Capaldi is definitely the best nu Doctor.
Avatar 8:42pm
Ike:

Oh yeah, I really enjoyed most of Capaldi's episodes so far. The writing really improved -- I wonder if Capaldi himself was involved in that a bit -- not sure why else the showrunner suddenly perked up. I liked Smith too, but the writing was really a mess towards the end of his reign, and everything seemed rushed. Glad to hear the new season will have more 2-parters.
Avatar 8:43pm
northguineahills:

When many of us were kids, Dr. Who would run in syndication on PBS.
Avatar 8:43pm
Peter Nelson:

Did you read that Jesse?...There's a recording studio/radio station rigth where I'll be.....hmmm. Re. Capaldi, here we also know him as Malcolm Tucker from The Thick Of It/In The Loop. Adds a nuance to the Who role. Fucking king of swearing.
Avatar 8:44pm
Peter Nelson:

Catastrofuck!
Avatar 8:44pm
Jesse K:

Dr. Who was maybe the second tv show I ever watched. I was such a huge fan I made my parents drive 4 hours so I could meet Jon Pertwee when he came to Little Rock
Avatar 8:48pm
Peter Nelson:

Dude...awesome tunes back to back.
Avatar 8:48pm
Ike:

Yeah, w/basically no budget (because that would be SOCIALIST & PINKO if we had a real state TV net), PBS was pretty anemic most of the time -- Sesame Street, nature shows, painting instruction shows, British costume dramas, British detective shows... and this mind-blowing weird sci-fi thing with crazy paper-mache monsters. So almost every American kid in the 80s without cable TV stumbled across it at some point (depending on the area), though most didn't like it.
Avatar 8:49pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

DIG.
Avatar 8:50pm
Peter Nelson:

We had Seame Street too. Now that was weird!
Avatar 8:53pm
Peter Nelson:

So you don't know Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker? Oh man....
www.youtube.com...
Avatar 8:55pm
Ike:

I've only seen one episode of Thick of It. It's not very well-known here. Definitely want to see more. As for Sesame Street weirdness: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 9:01pm
Peter Nelson:

That's nuts! Goes well with Jesse's tunes though. Ahhh TV of our youth. Drenched in lsd.
