Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from September 18, 2015 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Wiki re. Halfnelson:"Todd Rundgren producer of Bearsville Records signed the band with a contract and became the producer of their Halfnelson debut in 1971, which was one of Todd Rundgren's first outside production jobs since his own group, The Nazz. In retrospect the band was not all that happy with his production and one year later Ron Mael stated that "Todd Rundgren is extremely nice, but if you had to work with him, you wouldn't have much space for your own ideas. We did not feel his way of producing was suitable for our music. However, he could not be convinced otherwise. We started to behave a bit nasty and aggressive towards him and finally he didn't turn up anymore."

Hey Dean - to followup on last week - I went to a record expo last saturday (that's been 10 minutes from where I grew up on the 2nd saturday of the month for the past 25 years and I had no idea) - asked a dealer if he had any solo Harrison. He pulled out a few from the 80's, and I said I was looking for his first two when he was still with the Beatles. He pulled out a Japanese import of Electronic Sound - price tag = $200
Eek.
