Aerial View was WFMU’s first regularly-scheduled phone-in talk show. Hosted by Chris T. and on the air since 1989, the show features topical conversation, interviews and many trips down the rabbit hole. Until further notice, Aerial View is only available as a podcast, available every Tuesday morning. Subscribe to the newsletter “See You Next Tuesday!” and find tons of archives at aerialview.me.

This newsletter is going to briefer than most because I'm still in pain from my foot surgery this past Friday. To recap: I'm having my feet rebuilt because the "malformation" I was born with finally caught up to me.
Today's Aerial View Pod(iatry)cast comes to you directly from the hospital, Using my little Sony digital recorder I was able to provide post-surgery reports. On this show you'll hear:
Moaning and groaning.
Incessant beeping.
Rain.
Calls for painkillers.
An incredibly brief UFC title bout.
The weather from Lonnie Quinn.
More moaning and groaning.
For the most part, my surgery went off without a hitch. I was hoping to go home the same day but my doctor decided to keep me overnight for "Pain Management" and observation. The nurses kept asking me where I was at on a scale of 1 to 10. In a tribute to Spinal Tap, I did go to 11 at one point.
The worst part about this surgery is knowing I will have to do it all over again before too much longer. Oh well: one foot in front of the other, as they say.
Pain Management Is OUR Goal!
Last Week: Chris T. Drives To IKEA!
On last week'sAerial View In Exile Pod(iatry)cast I drove to IKEA and went inside. Here are some playlist comments:
Hi, ChrisT and pod people. Good luck with the surgery on Friday. I've never been to an Ikea as of yet. Let's see if the video goes inside or not.
Enjoying the IKEA podcast. Best wishes for your surgery, Chris!
Near the end, too feeble to walk
we carted you to Mass twice a day
to kneel painfully,
clutch a rosary,
mumble Hail Marys.
That Thursday carrying groceries
behind you up the kitchen steps
shit ran down your legs.
You were so embarassed, unable to look at me
until a month later in Brunswick.
"Do you see him?"
Her eyes, deep-set, dart from bed to hall.
"The cat - there. Black, just out the door?"
No, Nana. There are no cats in hospitals.
They're not allowed to just roam the floors.
How can that be?
"I've also seen the flies –
buzzing –
around that light.
Now on the wall.
They always come this time of day."
No, Nana. There are no flies in hospitals.
They’re very diligent about that sort of thing.
It’s considered unsanitary.
Listen, Nana –
I have to go.
Visiting hours are over.
Take care of yourself.
I love you.
She offers her cheek,
her eyes fixed on the hall.
searching for the cat.
I go to my car and sit in it
staring into the woods.
Run Silent, Dig Deep
The Silent October Fundraiser is underway. What's that? You hadn't heard about it? THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S SILENT. You won't hear it spoken about on air but we're getting the word out via social media and however else we can.
Pledge to Aerial View via this handy pledge box and use the "EMBED" function to get some handy cut & paste code so you can put the pledge box wherever you can.

Speaking of cut & paste, here's more Crunch Time info directly from the WFMU Newsletter:
WFMU News: Havin' Hard Times in This Crazy Town
It's Crunch Time here at WFMU, which means that we are running on fumes and need to ask you for money. Because we are out of it. Seriously. Look how raggy our chino shorts are.
Make a pledge to WFMU this October and help us stay alive! Don't let us be a skellington - let us be a frankingstein!
Although things are a bit dire in the financial dept, the fun dept (who hate the financial dept since that softball game where Chuck vomited) has kicked into overdrive to compensate: We've got two slick new t-shirts, a mascot contest, Singles Going Steady Week, a live broadcast from the Ponderosa Stomp festival, and more fundamental surprises on the way this month.
Your Pet Could Be WFMU's Next Mascot
The time has come for another listener's pet to be named WFMU's mascot for an entire year. Will it be your precious poodle Pickle or your snuggly snake Snooky-Ookums?
At the end of October, we'll choose one lucky listener's pet to replace reigning mascot Muuro (left) as WFMU's official symbol of peace, love, and surface noise.
Here's how to enter your pet into WFMU's mascot contest:
1. Make a pledge to WFMU, be sure to include your pet's name in the comments.
This year's mascot contestants can be seen here.
And if you're interested in slipping further through a wormhole to cute, check out last year's mascot contestants right here.
