the doctor:

Sorry you're under the weather Sam. Do you have any post tussive events planned?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm
Doug Schulkind:

Sam, I'm uploading you some eucalyptus-ginger tea. Pour it in your ears and ululate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm
Sam Segal:

Many thanks, @Doug. Ahh tea in the ears, that was my grandmother's old cold remedy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm
Sam Segal:

@Doctor, I was planning some post-tussive emesis, but if the weather doesn't improve, I might have to take a rain check.

Main attrakionz kode9, stricknice lootpack.

Looks like a new language. Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, @Melinder. It is a new language - Ifyouloseyourhorsealese!

Mayuko:

Is this Tama or something?
Avatar 9:51pm
Mayuko:

ah, I see it was some other Japanese person - never heard of him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
Sam Segal:

Just came across this record in the record store recently. Hope to put it up on the If You Lose Your Horse blog when I get a chance. @Mayuko, got a translation of the album or song title?
Avatar 10:01pm
Mayuko:

The track title is Riro Riro Ningyo - "ningyo" is "doll". It seems like the album title "Aba Haiji" is about "Aber Heidschi", seems like some German thing. Not a Japanese name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
Sam Segal:

Hmmmmm, a little googling seems to suggest that "Aber Heidschi" might be some sort of German folk song.
Avatar 10:07pm
Mayuko:

This set has been sounding like a little folktale from an unknown place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
Sam Segal:

Why thank you, @Mayuko. This Anna Homler tune is definitely the part in the story where things start to turn delightfully insidious.
Avatar 10:12pm
Mayuko:

Makes sense. There's always something uneasy and/or scary in any folktales somehow.

OHHH
Avatar 10:27pm
Mayuko:

You did pretty good on ningyo in the end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Uncle Michael:

I remember you commenting on this 7" when I played it during singles going steady.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Sam Segal:

@UM It's down and dirty Neil. My favorite. Not so down-and-dirty was this lame joke whoever runs his Facebook page made on his birthday: www.facebook.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Sam Segal:

@Mayuko: Thank you! I really gotta start practicing some of these things before I open up the mic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Uncle Michael:

As long as Neil make the green in three...
Avatar 10:36pm
Mayuko:

Feels the same, and even when I DO practice it's not always successful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Uncle Michael:

I can't even pronounce Synecdoche.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Sam Segal:

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it, @UM. Like everything Charlie Kaufman does, it's intentionally inscrutable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
Uncle Michael:

I hear Howard Da Silva.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Uncle Michael:

Tell DJ Screw that at any speed, this isn't Curtis Mayfield...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Sam Segal:

I know its William DeVaughn, but I kind of wanted to preserve Screw's designation on the tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
Uncle Michael:

I know you know. I'm giving discredit where discredit it due. I think it's funny...especially considering the album title.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
Sam Segal:

I'm also a big fan of his crediting of One Way's "Pop What You Got" to Artist Unknown. Screw's knowledge of every nook and cranny of hip-hop history was unparalleled...not true of '70s funk.

Tyler Croat:

I would love to do anything as intensely as Criss plays alto saxophone. Specifically I'd like to play alto saxophone as intensely as Criss plays alto saxophone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, @Tyler! You sure as heck can play with words as intensely as Sonny Criss plays alto saxophone, I'll tell you that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm
Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the music, Sam. I'm calling it an evening...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
Sam Segal:

Happy sleep, @UM.
