Yalda, Shab-e Yalda, "Night of Birth", or Zayeshmehr, or Shab-e Chelleh is the Persian winter solstice celebration which has been popular since ancient times. Yalda is celebrated on the Northern Hemisphere's longest night of the year, that is, on the eve of the Winter Solstice. Depending on the shift of the calendar, Yalda is celebrated on or around December 20 or 21 each year. Yalda has a history as long as the religion of Mithraism. The Mithraists believed that this night is the night of the birth of Mithra, Persian angel of light and truth. At the morning of the longest night of the year the Mithra was born. Following the Persian calendar reform of 1925, which pegged some seasonal events to specific days of the calendar, Yalda came to be celebrated on the night before and including the first day of the tenth month. 	6:10pm northguineahills: My wife is in Mexico for three weeks, so, I'm enjoying not cleaning the apartment continuously (well, I keep things hygienic, just unnecessary things like making the bed, and other OCD things she likes me to do.) It's so relaxing.

	6:22pm steve: you mentioned seasonal depression - for what its worth i had bad it all my life until two years ago when i drastically changed my diet to be super healthy and started going to bed around/before midnight. i swear, it just completely disappeared after being a nuisance for 15+ years.
	6:23pm Mayuko: I like airports walkways too and airports in general, Ken. I used to sometimes sneak into the no trespassing area of Haneda airport in Tokyo to see airplanes and cargos close, trying NOT to draw attention to myself as much as possible.
	6:30pm Mayuko: wow, that's amazing steve. That makes perfect sense, I do feel like it has lots to do with your organs working properly, digestion and stuff, if you look at it as an energy issue. Cos one of the biggest problems is that you get very low on energy and can't move when depression hits you, it's not only an emotional thing.
	6:30pm Dave B: For some (like me) the melancholidays are a result of missing loved ones that have passed away, coincidentally in years past round this time of year. So it's a bit of mourning, compounded by the shorter days. Add to that the commercial creep where Christmas starts before turkey is served and, well, bah humbug
	6:33pm Ken From Hyde Park: About 25 years ago, I had to catch an early flight out of the Newark airport (EWR). My friends dropped me off the night before and I unrolled my sleeping bag behind an abandoned ticket counter. Amazingly, no one hassled me and I woke up the next morning and flew away.
	6:37pm Mayuko: @Dave B I think sadness is natural whereas depression is something you probably want to seek for treatments. Feels lilke they're two different things with similar faces. Sadness you can't really heal, and that's ok (I mean it's not ok but I think you know what I mean...) Feels like sadness is sorta part of beauty of the whole thing.

	6:53pm Ken From Hyde Park: My next airport tale is how I was shipping my bike to my destination. I arrived early and parked my car at a quiet spot at the terminal drop-off. I proceeded to pack the bike into a big box and checked it in and then checked myself in. I hung around the ticket counters until about 20 minutes before departure. Then I realized my car was still sitting outside! I sped out to the parking lot and, miraculously, there was an open spot right at the entrance. I ran back to Terminal A and still managed to make my scheduled flight, but just barely.
	6:56pm Mayuko: @Ken haha! well at least you made it to the flight, whereas I have an experience of missing one. I learned it's pretty shocking when that happens. Maybe I should do an airport show sometime in future! Using your all crazy airport stories too.

	3:21pm fred: I used to know one of the guys from Golden Teacher. Not that well, really, but he had an earlier project called Blue Sabbath Black Fiji that was really great. Noise, but over time it drifted into something like dance noise, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn't, it didn't at the time, which was part of the appeal

	3:21pm fred: I used to know one of the guys from Golden Teacher. Not that well, really, but he had an earlier project called Blue Sabbath Black Fiji that was really great. Noise, but over time it drifted into something like dance noise, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn't, it didn't at the time, which was part of the appeal
