Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm MattBelow:

@Ken: We gotta get to 600k to be 50%
Pledge and give the ape some walking power!
  12:34pm Clay:

Ooh you hit a never. Phil Keaggy was in the great Youngstown, Ohio band, Glass Harp. Rather an underground legend. Great show guys.
  12:34pm Clay:

a nerve*
Avatar 12:35pm Cecile:

phil also made the kind of Christian music that people would go, "Normally I don't like Christian music, but I like this..."
  12:36pm Clay:

And his bassist, Dan Pecchio, went on to join the Michael Stanley Band.
Avatar 12:36pm Joe B:

thanks clay! first cut on Vol. 5!
  12:41pm Miss Georgia Peach:

Sounding great, guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Dave in Vermont:

Wiley, TX; I used to have family there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Uncle Michael:

When Phil Keaggy has played here, Kerry Livgren has shown up to sit in. I went once and "Normally I don't like Christian music, but..."
Avatar 12:48pm Caryn:

I'm still saying that if Joe B ever runs out of celebs with musical pasts, you could fill a whole premium with Brits: Ricky Gervais, Stephen Mangan, prof. Brian Cox, Vic Reeves, Billy Connolly, Noel Fielding, Craig Ferguson & Peter Capaldi... Heck, even young Judi Dench as Sally Bowles in Cabaret would probably count.
Avatar 12:49pm Cecile:

There are some clips of Judi Dench in Cabaret on YouTube that are great.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Artie Haywire:

Six songs in 50 minutes. Impressive levels of time-filling patter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Uncle Michael:

Keeping that gap filling music to a minimum, Artie.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Artie Haywire:

Spackle. It's all spackle.
  12:52pm mary:

it was worth quitting my job just to listen to three chord mondays!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Uncle Michael:

Holy cow, this rocks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm doctorjazz:

True, wasn't expecting that from Dwight Yoakam
Avatar 1:03pm Cecile:

I turned my late dad on to Dwight...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Matt F:

Come on people! You really don't wanna hear us sing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Matt F:

Still a few minutes to get in the running to win the Dwight Yoakam! any pledge of 20 bucks or more is eligible.
Avatar 1:06pm Cecile:

remember - we've heard Nick the Bard sing.
  1:07pm this sux:

love this cut!
Avatar 1:08pm Lewis:

sounds a bit like the Box Masters...
Avatar 1:09pm Nacho:

A small pledge from the south of the globe. Hope it helps... Greetings from Chile!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm chris:

Hi, everyone.

i don't believe yoakam is a man of constant sorrow
Avatar 1:11pm Listener 108581:

That has to be about the best version of MofCS.
Avatar 1:12pm Jeff:

I heard the preceding song on the radio, and was thinking... that sounds kind of like Dwight Yoakam. Wait, that sounds like a twangy electric-Country version of "Man of Constant Sorrow". Who the hell is that?

The playlist answers all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Man of Infrequent Sorrow:

Twang!
Avatar 1:13pm Lewis:

@108581 - give Roscoe Holcomb a listen on that front...
Avatar 1:15pm Jeff:

I have to say I'm still partial to a spare high lonesome treatment for MofCS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Uncle Michael:

Uncle Pen...for sure.
Avatar 1:23pm Caryn:

fxo's premium has several versions of MoCS, and hearing the Yoakam version, I started to wonder if he might slip that version in there.
Avatar 1:24pm glenn:

and of course, dylan did it as maid of costant sorrow.
Avatar 1:26pm Cecile:

blind shake!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm joe:

People who blew me (off) :)
Avatar 1:33pm glenn:

no show joes?
  1:33pm Cliff:

Hi everybody, does anyone have a link to the page with the descriptions of the premiums?

  1:37pm Farner:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Matt F:

Pledge NOW and win one of these two volumes of Spanish nuggets! Come on!
Avatar 1:39pm Listener 108581:

La Droga = the Drug? funny.
  1:40pm Cliff:

Yeah, was that to get past censors, or did they think LSD is the One and Only Drug anyone ever needs....
Avatar 1:40pm Cecile:

probably, "you are the drug, baby"
  1:41pm Cliff:

Because I'd have to disagree if it's the latter, you also need beer at least
Avatar 1:41pm Listener 108581:

AND Corazon Lleno De Mal = Heart Full of Evil. I think they're TAKING SOME LIBERTIES HERE.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm joe:

No Way Jose...
Avatar 1:42pm Caryn:

Maybe for the band it was "the drug of choice"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Gaylord Fields:

A Spanish version of Nino Tempo and April Stevens' genius fuzz-guitar-and-bagpipes take on "I Love How You Love Me" — now I've heard everything!
  1:48pm djelrock:

Asturias is a. Region of Spain. Bagpipes are part of their local flavor. They are called gaitas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Matt F:

You have until the end of this song to get in the running! Don't forget that pledges of 100 bucks or more are eligible to win the Velvets Matrix box at the end of the show!
Avatar 1:48pm Cecile:

People, treasure this moment. I wouldn't think that happens that much to Gaylord!
  1:49pm djelrock:

Los Ronaldos and Loquillo are classic garage rock bands from 80's. Good collection.
  1:50pm will in Paris:

Corazon lleno de mal: OK, this is an incredible track. My kids call it " Coeur rempli d'âme". Love an
d kisse from Paris, France
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cecile: My secret is out: I don't know every song. Shhhhh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm joe:

Stay out of the damn parking lot.
Avatar 1:52pm Cecile:

is that Georgia Peach from the Short Fuses? They were a great band.

Gaylord, you've forgotten more than I will ever know...
  1:52pm andy the painter:

oh yeah.....i put my money where my fingers are..
pledged 100 for my SFL!
  1:57pm Cliff:

Gaylord, that can't be true. I refuse to believe it! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cecile: Surprised you don't know the spectacular Georgia Peach personally. Guess she's not your letter carrier, either.
  1:57pm Pidge:

Good info, El Rock!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Dave in Vermont:

WNTI was the first non-commercial station I listened to growing up. It was the first time I realized how great radio could be. There was this guy who read short stories on the air. It was the station that made me realize it was possible I could be on the radio-eventually i had a show at a college station up here. And my love for NTI led me to discovering FMU. Anyway, Hackettstown, represent. Thanks Joe; thanks WFMU.
Avatar 1:58pm Michael Shelley:

FOLKS - give it up for JOE BELOCK - WFMU's Rockingist DJ.

ALSO - I think it is important that Joe & MATT earn more this week then Joe earned last week with that foul mouthed Todd!
Avatar 2:00pm Cecile:

He was on Babylon 5. Also sadly a couple of celebrity drug rehab series.
Avatar 2:03pm Cecile:

Also, people are probably half asleep from Spring Forward.
Avatar 2:03pm Caryn:

Jeff Conaway, Marilu Henner and John Travolta used to all live together in NYC. Henner and Travolta were dating, Conaway was Danny and Travolta was Putzie in Grease on Broadway back then.
Avatar 2:03pm Listener 108581:

PFF! What an insult! It's Wednesday of course...
  2:06pm Cliff:

What are you talking about?! It's Tuesday.
  2:08pm Cliff:

(I really did think it was Tuesday when I woke up this morning...8)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm DonJuanTijuana:

@Joe B How many tracks on that Celebrities Vol #4?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Brian C.:

We all love Cale but how bout some props for Doug Yule rocking the organ!
  2:12pm andy the painter:

i know. the organ on this track knocks me out
Avatar 2:13pm Cecile:

That version is so great.
  2:13pm andy the painter:

  2:34pm Frank Above:

Folks, I just ate. Please pledge so I don't lose my lunch!
Avatar 2:36pm Caryn:

I'm rooting for the singing, if only because I missed the Yo La Tengo show as I was at my birthday party at the time. Yeah, it's not gonna be as great, but it'll be as entertaining, if not more.
Avatar 2:37pm Cecile:

this is kind of decent!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Artie Haywire:

My houseplants just died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm doctorjazz:

gee thanks tom (wah wah waaaah)
Avatar 2:47pm Cecile:

pledge for Tommy Keene!
  2:48pm Marie:

I love Steve Howe. Saw him live a few years ago. He and his band, which included his son, were great. "The Steve Howe Album" (1979) is wonderful.
Avatar 2:49pm Caryn:

If I was being snarky, I'd comfort Joe B that surely Yo La Tengo will appreciate his live demonstration that the band can never be replaced, because the alternative performers would screw things up.
  2:50pm andy the painter:

i think this band THE IN CROWD turned into TOMORROW, which did some good psychey garage
Avatar 2:50pm Cecile:

yeah, my white bicycle is pretty classic.
  2:52pm andy the painter:

right!
Avatar 2:55pm Listener 108581:

love that tune Cecile.
Avatar 2:58pm Caryn:

I gotta say "pledge or we'll do something entertaining and stupid" is not a good Marathon strategy. "Pledge and we'll do something entertaining and stupid" is much more successful.
Avatar 6:29pm BadGuyZero:

BLERG! I slept too late and missed out on pledging during the show. *sadface* I'm pledging after the fact to help Joe reach his goal. If you're reading this you should pledge some money to his show too. DO IT!
