	11:20am Sem Chumbo: Wisconsin was dubbed the "Badger State" because of the lead miners who first settled there in the 1820s and 1830s. Without shelter in the winter, they had to "live like badgers" in tunnels burrowed into hillsides." Well, dip me in honey and call me mellified. Thx!
	11:22am Dean: Saw Mogwai at the Troubadour in Hollywood in late '99. Not loud at all. Maybe they toned it down because the venue is so small.
	11:24am just dc pat: I use to pride myself on my groups playing really loud. But now I have respect for bands that can get a good sound at a controlled level. Did I just turn into an old guy?
	11:25am Dean: Eh, dc pat? Speak up! Can't hear ya!
	11:26am Marcel M: @Pat: I think you did! Certain bands just seem strange when the volume is too low. Some bands it doesn't matter as much.
	11:26am Chris from DC: I'm ok with loud when it fits. I don't get loud for its own sake.
	11:26am Marcel M: There is something amazing about seeing a band play way too loud in a small club. But it does drown out the drums sometimes, which makes it kind of pointless.
	11:27am Dean: J&MC was strange with volume too low. Axel Dorner, John Butcher, and Xavier Charles, not so much.
	11:27am Chris M.: the last time i saw Mogwai they just set off several hundred air horns simultaneously through the PA while abrasive dust was blown into the audience's eyes. eight people fainted and an elderly man went into labor.
	11:27am Marcel M: @Dean: J&MC during this tour? Where did you see them?
	11:28am Cecile: I love John Butcher's solo works. That's the kind of thing you can play for someone who doesn't get free improv and they'll appreciate it.
	11:28am Chris from DC: I'd have paid to see that.
	11:29am Dean: You could hear the spittle forming on their lips the volume was so quiet. Dorner, Butcher, and Charles, I mean. No, Marcel. A long time ago at Hollywood Palladium. Oddly low volume.
	11:29am Cecile: Konono #1 was upset they couldn't get any volume. They were playing this largely folk venue, and the sound people wouldn't turn it up.

	11:30am Marcel M: @Dean: Ah! Ok. I saw them this time around at term 5 and it was pretty loud. I was way in the back and my ears were ringing after.
	11:30am Cecile: High Rise are a great band who needs lots and lot of volume - it's like another instrument.

	11:32am just dc pat: I went with d boon style shrill loud. Turned the bass almost all the way down and the treble all the way up, using a Telecaster..

	11:22am Dean: Saw Mogwai at the Troubadour in Hollywood in late '99. Not loud at all. Maybe they toned it down because the venue is so small.

	11:26am Marcel M: There is something amazing about seeing a band play way too loud in a small club. But it does drown out the drums sometimes, which makes it kind of pointless.

	11:27am Chris M.: the last time i saw Mogwai they just set off several hundred air horns simultaneously through the PA while abrasive dust was blown into the audience's eyes. eight people fainted and an elderly man went into labor.
