The Dead! Bird Song that is...cool! The Dead had major Jazz influences...
  4:30pm
Dean:

OED attributes "You're as crazy as a loon" to Faulkner, and explains its significance "in reference to [the bird's] actions in escaping from danger and its wild cry." I always kinda assumed the figure of speech was also a shortened version of "lunatic," but then that would be redundant.

i think its an 'augmented reality' Pokemon game... where you open up an app on your phone which has access to your phone's camera + camera view, and you see on your phone Pokemon characters placed into your surroundings based on where you are.
  4:50pm
Cliff in Prague:

See also: www.cartelpress.com...

steve: A few people in my course were talking about that, there's a lot of graffiti in Prague and apparently some of the tags now are Pokemon-related (oyyyyy)

geezerette - its a relatively new idea for a game, that could use any license, franchise, toy, movie, tv show, etc... they just took the tech and connected it to an existing brand with extremely high name recognition (sorry i do product design for a living)
Avatar 5:04pm

Avatar 5:10pm
geezerette:

Also digging the jams.
  5:11pm
JakeGould:

The deal with "Pokemon Go!" Is you have to go to specific physical locations, open up the app and then augmented reality happens via your cell phone camera so you can "capture" Pokemon in the real world.

It's like geolocation geocaching plus augmented reality plus a major brand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm
Michael 98145:

sort of like Philip K Dick plus Ray Bradbury
Avatar 5:12pm

Pretty soon, I would need an app just to get something out of the refrigerator.

  5:14pm

@Carm, that'll be the app-controlled robot that brings you beer. So that's something to look forward to.
  5:14pm
Cliff in Prague:

Well at least they have peanut butter cups in the other trans-realities, that's somewhat comforting
  5:15pm

And the app will augment your ugly spouse to make them look like a sexy beast.
Avatar 5:15pm
